Persona 5 Royal's new content is disappointing those with early copies

When Atlus revealed that Persona 5 Royal would be a stand alone game, many wondered about what exactly would be added to the game. Now that the game is out in Japan however, some fans are finding that it's not exactly what they expected. It seems that Persona 5 Royal has a lot less content than fans thought it would.

i never cared for these "second versions" of games, they almost always add next to nothing and let you believe the changes are so big it could not be a dlc expansion on the game we already paid full price for, i wish people were more vocal about these kind of games to send a message this isnt alright, will it change something? probably not, but thats no reason to say nothing. this reminds me of how little the "3rd versions" of pokemon games change and they still expect full prices from you, though they are doing it less frequently now (talking about this one in particular since its the one i keep buying despite knowing the differences are so small).

These versions are meant for either super fans or people that haven't played the OG version yet. I welcome these "complete editions" personally. Look how good DQ11 Definitive Edition turned out.

taking advantage of "super fans" making them pay 60 bucks for a what should be 10 bucks DLC isnt right.
on your other point i talked about it too, there are exceptions, i didnt play that game to make sure how much better it got, but i'll take your word for it. the new people who didnt bought it before and do so now its great for them sure, but most of these games do mislead people who already bought the game to think these games are almost all new content when the new content doesnt even cover 10% of the base game.

I have to agree, although I openly admit I will buy as many versions of this game and any other mainline Persona game as Atlus makes. In the age of DLC I really don't see any reason why this needs to continue being a thing, but fans (myself included) will buy it anyways, so I also see no reason from the business side of things why this needs to stop either.

I loved Persona 3 and P3P top to bottom and enjoyed nearly every hour.

But I did not enjoy The Answer. The charm of the extra content quickly died off after three hours of those tepid dungeons.

Hmmm....well that aint good. P4G did a great job of expanding the experience. This is what has been keeping me in fear of. But then again japanese gamers are quite critical. I wish they would just charge $20-30 as dlc instead of an entire new game. Times are changing in the games industry.

Well let’s be real here there’s been Persona 3 FES, the PSP Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 4 Golden on the Vita... so y’know, I mean sure I got the portable games and Golden more so because there’s trophies and I’m a completionist and I like having a platinum to one of my favorite games.

Now we’re onto 5... looks like I learned my lesson now. 🥴

This should at least be sold as an expansion pack as a good will to your early adopters.

If you understand how these "expansions" work. That's not possible. It's engraved into the game. Like new things and scenes happen etc. Altering the game from the get go. That's not ideal to have a dlc you can just add for these styles of games. Kinda breaks the mold

This game was way too long for me personally and overstayed it's welcome at the end. It was a great game but Story just started dragging along so there's no way I'll play it again for another 100 hours. I enjoyed my time with it and I'm happy new owners can too but the amount their adding in does not justify a re-release. It's just shoehorned elements added in there.
