UK Charts: Switch dominates as The Witcher 3 leads slew of new releases

But Mario Kart is the best-selling Switch game of the week, now past 1m units. Oh, and FIFA is still No.1

I looked at the article, but the problem I have is that numbers aren't actually given for Witcher. Not only are we in the calm before the storm of seasonal and big exclusive releases, so a big week for a game may literally just be 30k copies, but they only talk about the Witcher 3 sales experiencing a big resurgence, which considering how old the game is now with it not being GTA V or Mario Kart, week over week sales were likely terribly low. To put it into context, a 1000% increase over 500 sales is still only 50,000, which is passable but likely fails to cover the cost of porting and distributing the game. Considering 500 after several years of slowing sales is really optimistic too. Honestly I expect their weekly sales average to be low across the three other versions by now.

Skyrim is at like 30 million-plus units sold. I don't think TW3 is even close to that. Last I heard the Witcher series as a whole is at 30 million. So no.

I didn't see Concrete Genie on the list, but it did have a limited physical release. However, the game is beautiful and endearing and I encourage anyone to try it.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will never die it seems, it is the GTA V of Switch releases

So glad third party games are doing well on a Nintendo platform. It makes other company's excuses about not putting their games on the Switch look pathetic in comparison. There are nearly zero reasons not to include the Switch as a regular platform for releases at this point, they're just losing out on tons of sales/$$$.

Gonna be blunt: this article is basically lip service to say what you're saying. I find it best to put sales in context. For example say Witcher 3 was only averaging around 100 sales a week at this point. A 999% increase suddenly isn't actually very impressive still. I want third party games to thrive on Switch, but clearly third parties with hard numbers aren't as convinced.

Really cool because during the N64 years third party titles started slipping and only got worse with the GameCube.

Looking forward to Link's Awakening myself! I have Wild Hunt on PS4 and love it so it great to see Switch owners get a go at it.
