UE4 is only limited by imagination and hardware.

bishup251651d ago (Edited 1651d ago )

video looks amazing.

"The demo was also running with 35-60fps at 1080p on a GTX970 on Epic/High settings. Moreover, the artist did not optimize this scene, meaning that it could run even better." https://www.dsogaming.com/v...

speechless. UE4 really is a great engine if that's what you can get from a gtx 970. gtx 970 is equivalent to a ps4 pro.

Bishop

Yep looks amazing, and even running at 1080p. Goes to show regardless of what these Microsoft fans on this site say, there is far more to looks than just resolution.

I want that as my PS4 theme 😍

This'll run real time on a base PS4, right?

It's a still photo on the base XB1, right?

RememberThe3571652d ago

Lol right? This looks amazing. I can only imagine what a level would be like with this kind of chaos, fidelity, and detail. We need these new consoles yesterday!

Vegamyster1652d ago

Maybe for in-engine cut scenes but i wouldn't expect general gameplay to look like this, not at 4k anyway, the guy who uploaded the video said he got 35-60fps 1080p on a GTX 970, not optimized.

iplay1up21651d ago

Gears 5 has plenty going on in it, and it is easily in the top 5 best looking games this Gen. It runs at 4K 60FPS on 1X. So yeah with "4 times more powere" over X1X PS5 and Nextbox should be able to pull this off, especially in 1080p. 4K 60FPS will be mostly standard next gen. I don't recall either next gen system stating the amount of memory they will have.

rainslacker1651d ago

I'd take better looking graphics over higher resolution myself. Upscaling is good enough today that the overall picture quality is fine using that technique. If its higher res, and better graphics that's even better

Vegamyster1651d ago

I've played GoW 5 on PC with the settings maxed and the weather effects are not as complex this video, this is also in a controlled small environment let alone a playable game scenario.

I love how much of an improvement UE4 is over UE3. I absolutely hated UE3 last gen(except for fighting games) because it looked so bad in gameplay. It made beautiful pre rendered cutscenes tho.

fr0sty1652d ago

I hated how developers were all "we can use shaders now! let's make everything look like plastic coated in baby oil!" during the UE3 generation.

jeremyj29131652d ago

EXACTLY! 🤣🤣🤣 And the texture pops. Ugh!

Tech51652d ago (Edited 1652d ago )

UE4 has definitely made great strides with graphics to performance. UE3 also had a few good games that looked different from each game - Guilty Gear XRD, Mirror's edge, Gears3, Arkam Knight, MK10. to list a few.

rainslacker1651d ago

UE3 was capable of so much more though. What annoyed me more about last gen was the overabundance of grays and browns, which seemed almost like a staple of UE3 games.

iplay1up21651d ago

Mortal Kombat 11 uses URE 3, and it is a great looking game. Imagine next gen!

jeremyj29131651d ago

That explains a lot actually. I thought it used 4 and was surprised it didn't look better.

Bnet3431646d ago

MK11 looks PHENOMINAL I agree with you on that.

Fans??? This is done by one person

WoodsRatesGames1088d ago

Someone else was commissioned to do the music and another person modelled the batmobile. Links to all involved are included in the article.

They should have been made a batman game for the best batman movie. This looks amazing and now I must watch the movie.

Am I crazy or is there an Unreal Engine 5 now? Why promote old tech?

waverider1108d ago

I really dont understand either? isnt the Unreal Engine 5 already available for studios? arent they already working with it?

masterfox1108d ago

UE5 Is for PS5 only, deal with it! :D

***runs away from this thread with pride!**

Tacoboto1108d ago

UE5 is not released yet and developers for years will still make UE4 games because that's where their tools and customizations are.

Mortal Kombat still uses UE3. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is also still UE3.

Magog1108d ago

That more of an embarrassing indictment of those devs than a reason to promote old software.

Tacoboto1108d ago

Embarrassing indictment? You know nothing of software development then.

Spenok1108d ago (Edited 1108d ago )

Because a ridiculous amount of the industry still uses 4, and because no, 5 is not out yet. They said it would launch later this year.

AuraAbjure1108d ago

Companies still use Unreal Engine 3.

Really impressive tech but I don’t even notice all of these benefits in real life, never mind being chased by zombies in a video game. Rather devote resources to resolution and frame rate.

Magog1108d ago

If you suddenly stopped casting reflections in a mirror I think you would notice.

Yes after seeing the Unreal 5 ps5 reveal, I thought that's where we were heading. But saying that I have read various articles that suggest its easy for developers to still work on Unreal 4 and carry everything over to Unreal 5 when needed, we shall see.
