Nintendo Always Delivers on Commitment to Fans

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is finally out next week and that’s kind of incredible. It’s been about six years since Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon was released, so it’s natural to think that the time is right for another outing with the Poltergust 3000.

You saying people wanted a real Animal Crossing on Wii U and Nintendo gave those people Amiibo Festival instead? Nah Nintendo never would give fans something they don't want like Blastball instead of a real Metroid!

-Foxtrot1660d ago

If you are using Luigi's Mansion then why is it they put a sequel to a much beloved classic on a handheld device after fans waited bloody years for a new game rather then support the Wii U which actually needed the support. Dark Moon was just not that good compared to the first and even without playing Luigis Mansion 3 looks miles better, a fantastic looking game, that's the true sequel we wanted back then..

It's taken them ages to do Metroid Prime 4, They've never given us a new F-Zero. Still no word on Pikman 4. Mother/Earthbound? Nope. How about a new Super Mario RPG? A new Kirby, Yoshi, Donkey Kong 3D game? Pokemon Snap? Hell maybe just a brand new Nintendo IP altogether, last one was Splatoon.

ARMS is a new IP. Astral Chain is a new IP and yes they own it. 1-2 Switch is a new IP. Ring Fit Adventure is a new IP. Labo is a new IP. There has been 2 new Kirby game since last year on Switch. A new Yoshi game this year back in March with Crafted World. Since Splatoon they put a bunch of smaller new IPs on 3DS. Rusty's Baseball. Tank Troopers. Codename Steam and more. Metroid Prime 4 development had to be restarted with Retro Studios. It will be a miracle we get it at all at this point.

Okay fair enough but even still ARMS is not the big game franchise as Mario, Zelda, Pikman even, just seems like a game which showed what the Joy cons could do.

"There has been 2 new Kirby game since last year on Switch. A new Yoshi game this year back in March with Crafted World"

If you read what I actually wrote I said 3D games

" A new Kirby, Yoshi, Donkey Kong 3D game? "

" 3D GAME"

You know, something like Super Mario Odssey but with Kirby, Donkey Kong and Yoshi rather than the same old side scrolling games.

"Metroid Prime 4 development had to be restarted with Retro Studios"

Yeah but if they worked on it even earlier when we wanted it we could have had it by now, even if they restarted it.

ARMS was the last new Nintendo IP; preceded by Splatoon (2015) and Pikmin (2001). Yes, that list does include the DS and 3DS which only had Steel Divers as a new first-party IP (and I don't think anyone puts it on an actual creative level as ARMS, Splatoon, and Pikmin).

@Segata

You beat me to it while I was typing. Well done. Although, I don't think that second-party games are what people are thinking of when they say they want Nintendo to make new IPs. People want Nintendo EAD - which gave us Mario, Zelda, and Pikmin - to come up with the next great game with memorable characters.

jeremyj29131660d ago (Edited 1660d ago )

Wouldn't all of their games be considered second party since they don't own any of the studios that make them?

Segata1660d ago

They are 3D. They use polygons.

BadElf1660d ago

I prefered Dark Moon over the first. Mainly because of the different areas to see

Meanwhile the US gets no collectors edition yet Japan UK and Australia does :/ https://www.nintendolife.co...

BadElf1660d ago

Hopefully it isnt an easy, 7 hour game

I enjoyed LM3 well enough but honestly, I was expecting more. I want to see Nintendo get a little more ambitious with IP's like Luigi's Mansion. Expand the dev budget for a game like this and increase production value. I want to see LM expand into a true free-roaming "open world" type of game. Break away from the fixed plane level design and give Luigi the same kind of freedom Mario has in say, Odyssey.
