DOOM Eternal delayed till March 2020. Invasion Mode coming post-launch

Neil writes: "We've said it before and we'll say it again, delays are a big part of the gaming industry. But as much as each setback in game development is a bit of a disappointment, we'd much rather see the best launch experience possible; most certainly over a product that the developers aren't content with. And from there, whilst it's disappointing to hear that DOOM Eternal is being hit by a release delay, it's more than understandable."

Thank God

Seriously, I'm getting the collectors edition and I'd rather have more time to save up

Neonridr1687d ago

lol, I ended up cancelling the collector's edition because I had the Call of Duty and Death Stranding ones and I didn't want to strain my wallet too much.

oops. RIP me.

Neonridr1686d ago

Note: this was before I learned of the delay people. I am kicking myself now because I would have had a few months spread between the others to soften the blow. I guess nobody understood just what the heck I was saying there. I wasn't trying to put down Doom or anything, lol.

thatguyhayat1687d ago

Same here. Im already saving up for death stranding collectors edition

CorndogBurglar1687d ago

I know this game getting delayed is a good thing, but should we be worried? I mean, its Bethesda and they've had an abysmal track record lately. Even their latest Wolfenstein game was clown shoes.

Gaming1011687d ago

Bethesda is just a publisher. The devs are the same ones from Doom 2016 and they're amazingly talented. The fact that the game is being delayed tells you the publisher actually wants this to be good and is willing to throw money at development to make sure it's actually finished. Bethesda is learning its lesson from the mess that was Fallout 76.

AnubisG1687d ago

I don't mind this delay. There are so many games as is rhis fall.

franwex1687d ago

Wow. Bethesda actually decided NOT to release a buggy and unfinished game. I am without words.

thesoftware7301687d ago

I get the joke, But did you play Doom 2016?
Wonderful game , polished to the letter..I dont think i encountered one bug or glitch.

franwex1687d ago

Oh yeah. Great game. Originally I was going to post that the developers themselves maybe even pressured Bethesda into delaying.

Lightbullz1687d ago

I hear ID's secret is in having made the game engine in the same building where the game itself was built. That way the game engine guys and game designers could communicate and work together better. Absolute masterpiece was made this way, both technically and gameplay-wise

CorndogBurglar1687d ago

It was great. But remember how great Wolfenstein 1 and 2 were? And remember how bad the newest Wolfenstein was?

I'm nervous. I don't want to be as I've been a Doom player since the OG came out. But I can't help being a little scared of Bethesda ruining this too, considering their last two releases have been absolute unplayable garbage.

Hikoran1687d ago

Bethesda publishes DOOM, the developers are ID studios. The buggy unfinished games are Bethesda Game Studios, ID are fantastic! Watch the Noclip Documentary about the making of the 2016 reboot :)

CorndogBurglar1687d ago

Who makes the Wolfenstein games?

Obelisk921687d ago

They delayed it, no one can tell if it won't be buggy when it releases...

(Just kidding, I loved Doom 2016)

Hikoran1684d ago

MachineGames develops Wolfenstein games

AnotherGamer1687d ago

Wow, that's pretty big delay, wonder what happen.

1-pwnsause-11687d ago

most likely the fall lineup and the fact that they probably need more time to debug. Im cool with this... 3rd party companies with big games need to take risks and release their games in other days of the season, it doesnt have to be holidays.....GOW proves that, U4 proves that, hell TLOU part 2 is gonna prove that as well.

Doom absolution and 4 would've been nice

Midway did an excellent job porting DOOM 1 and 2 , just called DOOM, for Playstation in 1995 .

banger8865d ago

This is my favourite version of Doom. It also had the best soundtrack imo. Very ambient and creepy as f***. I never liked the rock music in the PC version, then again I grew up on the PS1 version so maybe I'm biased towards it.

DefenderOfDoom265d ago

Aubrey Hodges did a awesome job with the music for Playstation DOOM. I really liked the reverb type sound effects when you picked up health and armor in PS DOOM . Did not play PC DOOM until 2006 when it came with the collectors edition of DOOM 3 . I had a lot jump scares from Demons when I played PS DOOM back in 90S and was in my late 20s back then. And remember having nightmares of me being in DOOM , I remember in my nightmares Demons were chasing me and was climbing up ladders running scared from DOOMs Demons. Crazy scary but very fun times!!!
