Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order is a galaxy trotting third-person action adventure set between the events of Episode 3 and Episode 4, as our hero bids to rebuild the Jedi Order. It’s been corrected to 16gb now.

There was no way this game needed 32 gb ram it’s not pushing the envelope in physics or graphics.

It would have only been poor optimisation or a typo. And we now know it’s the latter.

Neonridr1686d ago

yeah, I smelled something fishy at first. 32 is waay too high.

I am pretty sure that 32GB RAM is a mistake. No game ever used that much and hell, even 16 gig ram is very rare to see in game's requirment. And looking at this game, it doesn't look that mindblowing to require such obscene amount.

neutralgamer19921686d ago

How much ram will next Ps5 and Xbox have? Any chance we get to 24? Since Xbox x has 12GB ram

GDDR6?

Thunder_G0d_Bane1686d ago

Next gen consoles gonna have 16gb ram which has been part of the devkits

Orionsangel1686d ago (Edited 1686d ago )

Have you played PC games lately? 16 ram is almost becoming the norm these days. Don't believe what anyone tells you. 8 ram is no longer enough for modern PC gaming if you wanna run full specs.

I have 32 gig ram myself and i play the latest and most demanding games and very rarely i see games use 16. Maybe that will change in Next gen but for now. 16 is sufficient enought]

Sophisticated_Chap1686d ago

32GB is recommended, not the minimum requirement. I've finally started playing through Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and while monitoring everything with MSI Afterburner, I've been using just a hair under 12GB of DDR3 memory, so as we go into the future with newer games, I'm sure we'll see 16GB become a minimum spec in many new games, and possibly even higher, in a relatively short period of time.

SegaGamer1687d ago (Edited 1687d ago )

32gb? that is surely a mistake. If it isn't, then I expect this game to have some seriously poor optimisation.

EDIT: It was a mistake, it's been changed to 16gb.

RizBiz1686d ago (Edited 1686d ago )

Even 16 is ridiculous considering it looks worse than Uncharted 2 on the PS3.

Kados1686d ago

Another detail to take note of, 8GB Vram on a 55GB install. Game is either tiny as sh!t, or is reusing so many assets even Bethesda would Spock eye it.

Giblet_Head1686d ago (Edited 1686d ago )

There is all sorts of red flags with this. Buyers beware.

porkChop1686d ago

I don't think you understand how RAM or VRAM work.

InKnight7s1686d ago

Vram is simply GPU, RAM is random access memory for the whole system to handle the OS and app things right?

porkChop1686d ago

Yes, VRAM is random access for your GPU. But there's no correlation between the VRAM requirement and the game's total install size. Files are only loaded into your VRAM as they're needed. And when they're no longer needed they're purged/removed. So certain files will only be loaded during certain levels and areas, where they'll actually be on screen.

You could have a 100GB game with no reused assets, and the game could still only require 4-8GB of VRAM at a time. For example, most current games will continuously stream textures into your VRAM as you move around a level/area.

Kados1686d ago

That is exactly my point. Think about it. Requiring 8GB of Vram means the game is loading up to 8GB worth of files into Vram at once. Given that Vram is primarily used for textures, how much of that 55GB do you think is taken up by just textures, assuming the game is not recycling assetts and pre-loading all the games textures into Vram. A 100GB install with 4GB Vram would be far less likely to be recycling as they would have far more space for reserve textures, without digging into install space that could be used for other game files.

If they are not recycling and pre-loading, then expect the texture files alone to take up 30-40GB of that 55GB.

porkChop1686d ago

VRAM is used for a lot more than just textures. All graphics settings use up VRAM.

They're not looking to acquire, but are they looking to be acquired? That's the big question now with companies like EA, T2, etc.

badboyz09293d ago

EA relies way to much on their licensed ip's which isn't a good thing for a Buyer.

-Foxtrot294d ago

I really want them to finish up Cal's story so LucasFilm are free to use him in a TV show or Film if he survives in the end anyway

Cal or Ezra should be rebuilding the Jedi Temple Order...not Rey.

CrimsonWing69293d ago

Please do. These Jedi games have been exceptionally top tier.

StarkR3ality292d ago

Other than their performance but yeah

CrimsonWing69292d ago

I didn’t really run into performance issues, but I played it on PS5.

neomahi293d ago

We don't want it, let someone else develop Star Wars

Tacoboto293d ago

1. Yes we do want it
2. One of the biggest recent announcements has been Star Wars Outlaws, developed by someone else.
