Bought it on day one. Played it for 2 hours an realized I needed this on PC. About time indeed.

Btw. November on the epic game store. December on Steam

fiveby91674d ago

I can wait for Steam availability.

mikeslemonade1674d ago

Haha I only played like 15 minutes and then realized I rather just play it on PC. Buy TakeTwo Stock!

battlegrog1674d ago

lol epic is redick, Paying money to have it 1 month early.I mean it is fair game its just funny.I guess i have to wait until December cus i only cloud stream games from steam onto Geforce now !

carcarias1674d ago (Edited 1674d ago )

Yeah, similar thing with me, though I did play for around 10 hours.

I want 60fps and, more importantly, mods, for a lot of quality of life improvements. For example, more fast travel options and not needing to select weapons every time you get off your horse.

I'm sure modding will make the game flow better and possibly even improve combat in some small way.

Now they need to give us RDR as well...
RDR2 was great, but RDR was legendary...
That, and my PC might not play RDR2 :P
Gimme RDR at 4k@60fps...

Gravesinger_1674d ago

It could possibly happen, RDR 2 is a sequal to RDR so to release it after RDR 2 on pc would only bring in even more money their way, it would need to be a remaster though as from what I read the coding in that game was all over the place.

neutralgamer19921673d ago (Edited 1673d ago )

Pc gamers will get to enjoy this game with improvements rockstar refuse to make like fast travel system and cheats that will allow you to save your progress(unlike on console where you can't save the game while cheats are enabled. Trophies are disabled so why not let us save and enjoy the game we want the way we want. Rockstar have gone for realism at the cost of fun

Unspoken1674d ago

PC gaming is at an all time high!

FlyingFoxy1674d ago

Pfft.. people still use 60hz monitors? But nah, they're ok, I wouldn't go back to one after having a 120hz 1080p and now 1440p 165hz screen. around 90-100 or so fps is the sweet spot IMO, gets less noticeable as you go up from there.

traumadisaster1674d ago

He mentioned 60 in comparison to the console 30, and that is where you and everybody else notices THE MOST improvement.

Yes it’s obviously better the higher you go but not as big an improvement the higher you go.

Doge1674d ago

I got the ASUS PG27UQ. I'm limiting my expectations to 60fps for now with my i9 9900K and RTX 2080 TI setup since I got a feeling that it's gonna be super demanding for 4K, unless it was ridiculously optimized to the point where I can go beyond that.

Furesis1674d ago

i have 144hz monitor but no way in hell can my pc run this game much above 60 fps. i get like 100 in apex.
just having a 144hz monitor isn't enough, you also need the power to run it

PlayableGamez-1674d ago

PC elitist gamers are going to start shaming people who still game at 60 frames. Wow so toxic.

bluefox7551674d ago

There's almost no discernable difference beyond 60, certainly not for a slow paced game like this. If you're playing CS:GO, sure, but anything beyond 60 seems like overkill for this. 30 to 60 is a night and day difference, beyond that, not so much.

carcarias1674d ago

Yeah, it's a tough one but in the end I went with 4k @60fps on a 43inch. I'm a sucker for the visuals and don't do multiplayer. My son is similar to you though, he hates anything less than 120. In fact, he still gives me playful grief about my preference.

If the choice eventually becomes 8k at 60fps or 4k at 120fps (maintaining high settings) then I'll plump for the latter.

Teflon021674d ago (Edited 1674d ago )

Meh, while 90 etc is better etc. That's now extreme enthusiast talk at that level lol. Got a GTX 1080 and I could do that for the most part in most games. But the problems how much it varies, I'd hater a locked 60 at 1440 or 4k depending on game over 100 etc frames, dropping to 75 and going to 120 and possibly dropping certain settings. I went from Console main to PC, I'm great with 60 and maximizing graphics. Hell. I only play shooters on my monitor. Everything else I play on my 4K TV. Fantastic

Also, I personally hate seeing people drops settings to crap to get extremely high frames. I'm the opposite. I'd rather play say, BFV in 1440p maxed running locked 60 than medium running maybe 90? Maybe more maybe less I don't know honestly. But think you get it lol

CurbStompin1674d ago

Nah, my 4K 60hz HDR monitor is boss compared to my 1440p 100hz ultrawide before it. Hands down.

XxINFERNUSxX1674d ago

I totally agree, 90 to 100+ is the way, except MMOs where the fps drops below 30 then it's all on the cpu not the gpu

1673d ago
AsunaYuukiTheFlash1673d ago

You still game at 1080p? My eyes can't take anything less than 4k.

rainslacker1674d ago

This isn't exactly a fast moving game. 30fps was fine on consoles.

1674d ago
rainslacker1674d ago

To each their own, but that may have been more about the way they did the textures and shading effects to get it to look as good as they did. Lots of tricks which don't work well when you put things in motion. Potentially a PC version could fix that, but not sure if frame rate would make much difference if not.

1673d ago
rainslacker1673d ago

I can recognize both. It's not about being accustomed. RDR2 isn't a fast paced game where I think it matters, but I'll accept if some people think it's important.

KeenBean3451674d ago

I'm guessing this is exclusive to their launcher, does anyone know if the launcher allows mods?

Doge1674d ago

It'll launch on Steam in December. So hopefully they'll have mods shortly afterwards.

Sgt_Slaughter1674d ago

All you had to do was read the article:

"Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC will also be available to pre-order at the Epic Games store, Greenman Gaming, the Humble Store, GameStop and additional digital retailers starting October 23rd with a pre-order bonus of 25 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online. Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC will also be available to purchase on Steam this December."

KeenBean3451674d ago

I read it, I meant in the way that you need the launcher open to play it, like Uplay. Thanks anyway though

Profchaos1674d ago (Edited 1674d ago )

It's actually not it's going to be on epic also. I'm not sure if it will be like old ubi titles and force you to open up their launcher also when playing

TheColbertinator1674d ago

I told y'all.

Finally some common sense from Rockstar.

thedr9041674d ago

Common sense? Sure. But this is a pretty genius marketing move, if GTA V is anything to go by.

1674d ago
IanTH1674d ago

@shaggy if the Steam sales charts are anything to go by, unfathomable amounts of them will buy it. GTA V is STILL managing to get in the top ten years after release.

1673d ago
Profchaos1674d ago (Edited 1674d ago )

Pretty sure they have been building it the entire time

TheColbertinator1674d ago

I understand that. I simply would have liked an announcement around the time of the console launch.

MadLad1673d ago

I'm only surprised that an inevitable release on PC actually surprises anyone. GTAV is an extremely active game on Steam, to this day.

6 Games That Genuinely Deserve A Current-Gen Upgrade

Games such as Mad Max, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Batman: Arkham Knight desperately deserve a modern-day revisit.

thorstein17d ago

Mad Max is underrated. Such a fun game.

Cacabunga16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

RDR2 still looks astounding on PS4 Pro. i cannot imagine how it could look with a next gen upgrade.

JonTheGod16d ago (Edited 16d ago )

Probably not very different.

No idea why this article is highlighting recent beautiful graphically-advanced games and saying they need current gen makeovers. They already look better than most new releases; just compare Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad!

exputers16d ago

I see what you did there.

Yi-Long16d ago

It's obviously never gonna happen since Sony killed the game and studio, but Driveclub. Even in its current state, 10 years after release, it still puts many competitors to shame ...

Demetrius16d ago

I'm not into racing games but yeah I even looked at gameplay of that sometimes

Demetrius16d ago

Mad max ikr! Far cry primal, it amuses me how ubisoft just left ac unity hanging, sadly most of the good staff left from rocksteady while being forced to make that abomination smh

hmm kinda out there i find red dead 2 a over hyped game i am sure there are other's out there worthy of this award.

Are we saying rdr 2 mp is better than the first one?

The cover shooting better on #2 than #1?

I mean they reused 80% of rdr 1 map on rdr 2

smolinsk34d ago

Red Dead Redemption 1 was better. A better story that's for sure but the world in red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastic. But overall yes Red Dead Redemption 2 is overhyped but with best living World ever made.

just_looken34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Oh rdr 2 world how you leave tracks what you can do and the npc's are great no doubt

For me its the forced guns one way to play missions and the camp you can do nothing be a ass and there is no change sense none of the hunting/donating.bounty/karma etc even taking care of your horse matters. Then you got the horse inventory along with them bringing in realistic inventory but at the same time have that slomo crap pick a lane is it a wild west sim or a max payne rip off.

shinoff218334d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Plus who cares about the mp. Single player is where it's at.

I don't think it's the best sequel either. I liked it but I can see why some say it's overhyped. That's because it was. Great game still. I'd take xcom 2 as a better sequel. I'm sure there's plenty others.

just_looken34d ago

We care about mp because of gta v even if you been living under a rock you know what gtao did to gta v dlc.

Though rdr 2 mp failed it still put time/resources and budget away from the single player for a subpar experience compared to the first.

lucasnooker35d ago

Hmmm don’t know about that one myself. There’s some good sequels there….

No way last of us 2 was a better sequel than the original resident evil 2. The story of TLOU2 was a huge let down for me!

Assassins creed 2 was a vast improvement over the original and still the very best of the entire franchise imo.

Half-life 2 will always be legendary.

RDR2 is great but the best sequel ever? I don’t think so… just my opinion though I guess

shinoff218334d ago

Shoot down last of us 2 but bring up assassins creed 2. What in the world.

anast35d ago

Last of Us 2 would be mine and Dark Souls 3 has to be up there.

raWfodog35d ago

I also enjoyed TLOU2 but RDR2 edges it out for me. Both hit me in the feels but RDR2 just a little bit more lol.

anast34d ago

RDR2 is an excellent game. One of my top 10 of all time.

SimpleSlave34d ago

Sure, if you started playing game yesterday and just for this series. Otherwise? lol... No.
