Because it’s a classic and great game.

CyberSentinel1703d ago

Not only that, (which is true of course) the original game is over 20 years old. That’s a generation of current gamers who may have never played it before, for them it is a new game.

$60 despite being a complete remake and not a remaster, $60 seems right just like for the FF7 remake, remasters should not be that highly priced but some are. Remember not everyone has played the original so for them this is a new game.

anonymousfan1702d ago

Ratchet and Clank, the Spyro and Crash trilogies plus CTR were all remakes and sold for 40 on release... This Zelda game looks awesome but it is a tad expensive.

shuvam091702d ago

You forgot SotC...
I've been vocal about this issue for quiet some time...
Nintendo has been hell bent this gen to pinch every penny off their customers...
And that's one of the main reasons why I didn't get a Switch this gen...
Luckily, Switch has been popular enough to spawn Yuzu...
Now 11 of us buy a single copy of every game that we'd like to play...
3 of us own a Switch which gets moved around as well...
It's worked fine for us so long and I don't see it changing anytime soon...

Neonridr1702d ago

TLOU Remastered was sold for full price. It's not always cut and dry.

Poopmist1702d ago

There's a bit of a bigger jump from the 2d pixel graphics and gameplay for Zelda than for the ones you mentioned.

JimmyDM901702d ago

@neonridr

Last of Us PS4 was a remaster of a 1 year old game and included all DLC released up until that. Including the Left behind DLC which was like $10-$15.

Shadow of the colossus was also a remake for $40.

It’s clear way more work has been put into the FF7 remake than was put into Link’s Awakening. And FF7 remake is going to be a much bigger and longer game.

The only reason Link’s Awakening is $60 is because it’s Nintendo and Nintendo knows they can get away with price gouging because their fans will pay. It’s the same reason the lackluster remaster of Tropical Freeze (a 4 year old game) cost $10 more on the switch than when the game originally launched on Wii U.

Neonridr1702d ago

Links Awakening is completely rebuilt. Nothing was reused here. It's a brand new game. It's not taking an existing game say from the PS3/360 and then remastering it at 1080p or something.

KazHLooksRetarded1702d ago

A 3 part $180 remake made by a studio with the incredible recent track record of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV..............wow....... Yea Sounds way better than links awakening

badz1491702d ago

@Neonridr

"Links Awakening is completely rebuilt."
"Not everybody has played it before"

Because SoTC, R&C, Medievil, Crash, Spyro etc. are all using reused assets. /s

And all hundreds of millions of gamers have played all the games I mentioned as each of them sold 6bil units each. /s

You're he worst of the worst kind of fanboy there is.

nommers1702d ago

@KazHLooksRetarded

Yep, it does sound better. When you’re right, you’re right.

Btw, Are you KazH?

TheGamer is a terrible site. They are like Gamingbolt with their articles.

King_Noctis1703d ago

This site seem to hate Nintendo. Almost every articles relating to Nintendo are negative articles from this site.

Hungryalpaca1702d ago

They hate anti consumer practices. Charging $60 for a remake of a 20 year old GB game is absurd. Nintendo would charge $60 for pong and Nintendo players would eat it up.

King_Noctis1702d ago

@hungry

Would you rather have these kind of single player game with no microtransaction or lootboxes or a $60 games full of those shitty practices?

The Wood1703d ago

Not everyone is excited but each to their own. Some can't wait. . How is this an issue

The 7 Best Video Game Trailers of All Time

There's been a lot of great video game trailers over the years, but here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best produced so far.

-Foxtrot238d ago

I never even knew this existed, I love him, he was fantastic

Just a shame that he passed away, I always wanted to see if they did one more Bottom live when they were older to send the characters off if he was still alive. I'd have loved to go and see it.

CantThinkOfAUsername237d ago

@LordoftheCritics that's my kind of list! I'd only add Halo Wars 2 and For Honor.

Rocketisleague237d ago

Versus Xiii original trailer, I was literally a kid back then. Shame it was quite disappointing on release

Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Revelation had some great cinematic trailers, the latter using Woodkids Iron. Even Assassin Creed Unity had a trailer when they used another Woodkid song which was decent.

Tomb Raider Underworld had a really good reveal trailer showing Croft Manor in ruins but showed it in reverse.

The Last of Us Part II reveal with Ellie singing Through the Valley and also the TV Sport where she sang a cover of True Faith.

The Witcher 3s A Night to Remember trailer which they basically turned into the games Epilogue set after the Blood and Wine expansion. He told Orianna he'd come back for her and he did.

Halo 3 Starry Night. Short but effective.

The Callisto Protocol launch trailer. The game might not be amazing but the launch trailer was well done and the theme song to the game "Lost Again" by Kings Elliot was beautiful

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, great trailer and really gave off that mystery, conspiracy vibe

Uncharted 4 Man Behind the Treasure

Deathloop Launch trailer with Pitch Black and the official gameplay trailer with Déjà Vu, two great songs made for the game.

isarai238d ago

Never even played the game but AC Revelations CGI trailer I saved in my PS3 and would rewatch on a regular basis, and used it as a reference for calibrating TVs when I bought them

eagle21237d ago

Grand Theft Auto Vice City back in the day, The Uncharted series trailers have been awesome (always get me hyped), Grand Theft Auto 5, Breath Of The Wild reveal trailer, Team ICO trailers have heart and Ghost Of Tsushima reveal made my jaw drop....to name only a small few.

TheEnigma313237d ago

Gears 1 and gears 3 are the top for me. I would throw dante's inferno in there for the song

Hofstaderman237d ago

Mass Effect 3 trailer featuring the battle. Enough said. That and Assassins Creed 3 cinematic trailer was great too.
