A teenager who carried out late-night attacks on women after playing violent computer games and reading pornography has been jailed indefinitely. Ryan Chinnery, 19, initially denied three sexual assault charges, but pleaded guilty to one of them during a trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Chinnery, of Ashford, Kent, also admitted a charge of assault on another woman, after he was faced with overwhelming DNA evidence.
Judge Philip Statman gave Chinnery an indeterminate sentence for public protection, recommending that he serve four years in prison before being considered for release.
The court heard that Chinnery often played the video game series Grand Theft Auto, in which players commit robbery and violence. He also indulged in alcohol and strong cannabis and had an "unhealthy interest" in pornography.
Judge Statman said: "There is a worrying mirror of conduct between that which pornography presented to you and that which you carried out." Referring to the video games, he added: "It cannot have helped him in all the circumstances of this case."

Microsoft is pushing for no "red line" for what games could come to PlayStation, and it all revolves around Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood's plans to increase every department's margins.
"The plan to move Xbox games to other platforms is codenamed "Latitude" internally, and I know there's debate and unease at Microsoft about whether or not this is a good idea. More upcoming Microsoft-owned games slated for PlayStation are already being developed. At least for now, they're potentially obvious games you'd most likely expect. And yes, while it's true Microsoft is a prolific publisher on PlayStation already, it has typically revolved around specific franchises like Minecraft. From what I've heard, Microsoft is pushing for no "red line" for what games could come to PlayStation, and it all revolves around Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood's mandate to increase every department's margins. "
