"Turok 2: Seeds of Evil benefits the most from this updated release, but poor level design still manages to hold it back, all these years later." - Blair at Electric Bento

Turok: A Game Series in Need of a Reboot

The Turok series has been languishing without a new title for more than a decade. It's about time we got a reboot.

closed_account376d ago

I'm all for it, I loved the originals... I just don't think, just like w the original Prey, that the main character can survive in this current political climate. Native characters seem untouchable at the moment. I think it can be shown the right respect, but there's always someone getting upset about something these days, they would find a way to cancel it.

BriBri376d ago

I can't think of a game that's been cancelled because of the race of the main character.

Vits376d ago

Honestly, I would prefer if they just ported/remastered Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion to modern platforms. So we could have access to the "original 3 games". Because I don't see how to really reboot Turok. It's a product of its time being a mixture of platforming/fps and puzzle.

And I really don't see all those elements being preserved on a Reboot.

I would prefer Dino Crisis remake from Capcom. Still, a remade Turok would get my attention.

Forgets about the 2008 reboot*
I'd rather have a sequel to Turok 3, tbh.

GoodGuy09376d ago (Edited 376d ago )

We unfortunately do not have enough quality dino games. Theres Horizon but they're robots, and Monster Hunter that I can only think of. I'd like to see Turok make a comeback some day.

Holy damn day one! I love turok

Orbilator1202d ago

Is it just a basic port or total remaster

MetroidFREAK211202d ago (Edited 1202d ago )

Kinda both. They are modernized with dual stick controls, a much better framerate, FOV slider and less fog. Graphically they don't look that much better than the N64 game, but I think that's what they were going for. I own both versions on Xbox One, Steam and Switch. I'll probably end up getting them for my PS5 as well 😅

Orbilator1202d ago

Ah cool I have them both for my N64 and they still both very playable, don't know if they really needed a frame bump, maybe just a constant one. But otherwise that are great couple of games that could do with a real remastered to death.

Neonridr1202d ago

we already got this released before for other systems, so my guess is it's the same. I got them on my Switch via Limited Run Games.

BenRC011202d ago

Prepare to have your dreams shattered. These are bloody awful games by modern standards.

MetroidFREAK211202d ago

They are dated yes, but still fun

bouzebbal1202d ago

Haha finally Turok on PS consoles..
Turok 64 was sick, great memories

UltraNova1202d ago

Turok 2: SoE....man one of my favorite games on the N64.

roadkillers1202d ago

My 15 year old cousin couldn't get past the first area. Then you have little 6 year old me attacking a barrel because I thought it was funny. Boom, opened up a wall to a staircase to the next area. Born a true gamer!

badz1491201d ago

where have you been? Turok has occasionally appeared on Playstations previously. this will be the first one for the PS4 though

Skate-AK1202d ago

About time. The trophy list got added back in June or July.

TGGJustin1202d ago

Yeah the first one did. The second game's trophy list just showed up a week or two ago

Ninver1202d ago (Edited 1202d ago )

This month felt a bit weaker overall, but I still cannot possibly complain. With the "classic" plan, still got each game for barely over $1, so even though only 5 of them were really interesting to me that's still an absurd deal. And there's some special "extra" game being revealed on May 1st. Humble Choice is too good a deal to pass up, but just keeps adding to the backlog.

The backlog is at critical mass. It is self sustaining. It cannot be stopped. God help us all.

Kados1515d ago

IMO, Raiden & Turok 2 alone are worth the cost.
