Wolfenstein Youngblood SinglePlayer Mode - Can You Play Solo Offline?

From GameWatcher: "Wolfenstein: Youngblood is the first CO-OP focused game in the series, but thankfully, there is an offline single player mode for the less social of us to enjoy as well.

The Wolfenstein: Youngblood offline single player mode works much as you'd expect, with a few caveats to keep in mind. For example, you still get a partner to play with, but her AI is infamously bad. Find out how it works - below."

Yes... and no. My buddy tried playing alone and he said the AI is absolutely horrible, it's almost necessary to play through with a friend.

Honestly this game is awful and filled with bugs, on PC anyway, that's what i'm playing it on, and lucky for me, I didn't buy it, my friend did and I've just been playing by using the buddy pass. But we actually encountered a glitch where it doesn't give him anymore story missions, so we literally can't progress, need to start completely over, we were only 19% of the way in, but man is that annoying, not to mention a lot of the maps are the same looking, with the same building copy and pasted surrounding the map, not to mention the amount of times you return to the same location, it all just screams lazy.

Next on the big bad list is checkpoint inconsistency, sometimes they put a checkpoint when you're barely into a mission, and yet other times we get through a long mission and die at the VERY END and get sent alllllllllllll the way back to the begging, it literally makes no sense.

Another big issue is difficulty spikes, all of a sudden you hit a wall and you are forced to grind to level up just so you can progress, you run into enemies that can literally one and two shot you, but you can fire endless rounds into them and they still live, then you run out of ammo and are completely screwed, you are then 100% forced to go back and grind to be able to continue.

Last issue isn't that bad, but still kind of silly anyway. So of course people who are playing using the buddy pass can't play by themselves, that makes sense they didn't pay for the game, but the person who is playing with them and owns the game is almost forced to keep playing with whoever they started playing with, because as I said before, the AI is terrible, but also because if they go further ahead and leave their friend behind, their friend then becomes VERY underpowered very quickly making them have to replay all of those missions to get them up to speed anyway.

Not to mention the many bugs and technical glitches that happen regularly, enemies popping in and out in front of you, some bosses not even loading, it's legitimately a very flawed game and a 3 by user metacritic for a reason, the fact reviews are letting this get a pass is astonishing, and just goes to show you flat out can't trust reviews these days. This is an absolute mess of a game, from glitches to straight up design flaws, if a game like that can still get a 76 on metacritic by reviewers, but then a 3 by users, something is clearly off...... paid off.

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.

RTCW is wayy better than New Colossus.
RTCW should get the 1st spot but I'll settle for a 2nd spot for RTCW in order avoid unneeded quarrel with late 2000s new gamers - and this is coming from an late 90s, early 2000s FPS lover. (RTCW is one of the best single player FPS eve made and one of my fav game)

Wolfenstein 2009 doesn't get enough credit. It was genuinely good, I really enjoyed it. I think the reboot series from MachineGames is certainly better, but the 2009 game is still worth playing.

RaidenBlack718d ago

I had high hopes for Wolf 2009 especially after RTCW and Enemy Territory. And also because none other than Raven was developing it.
But they couldn't quite hit the mark. It turned out okayish. But after RTCW, it seemed pretty underwhelming as a sequel.

porkChop718d ago

Agreed that RTCW is clearly better. Though I don't think I had played that yet when I played the 2009 game.

I still favor Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I like the Indiana Jones and the Nazis messing with the supernatural vibe.

I remember buying Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Xbox when I was a teen. It was my first Wolfenstein title. I found the game challenging yet enjoyable.

RTCW was one of my first online MP experiences with broadband, both online and single player campaign was very fun.

RaidenBlack718d ago

I consider RTCW as one of the best FPS campaigns made. The mood, the pacing was just really good, especially for an early 2000s PC game. And it was pretty difficult too.

Wolfenstein 2009 is still my favorite by a mile. The variety of locations like the farm level and others were so colorful and fun to explore. The story as well with the Dark Sun and the enemies. Just very well thought out and BJ was perfect in it with his look and demeanor.

2009 game way too low on this list. Original Wolfenstein is not better than any of the modern games.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Review - Judging the Indiana Jones Devs' Future Quality From Their Last Work

Jason says, "The devs of the future Indiana Jones game made this game. So duh, I decided I’d review their last work to get a feel for the potential quality of their future work!

In case you don’t know, Wolfenstein: Youngblood continues the Wolfenstein storyline of the modern games but as a spinoff centered around BJ’s daughters. It also continues along with the fast-paced, smooth-as-butter FPS action its modern revival and counterpart Doom have so competently brought back."

Article on N4G tomorrow... "Doom was never very good or revolutionary..."

Battlestar231161d ago (Edited 1161d ago )

The spider-man games when multi-platorm were great now that it's exclusive to PS they are crap with SJW writing.

NeoGamer2321161d ago

I disagree. The Spider-man exclusives on PS are the only Spider-man games worth playing. They are very good.

anast1161d ago

This like a "Pet Sematary" article. It's probably not a good idea to go about bringin' up things that should be dead.
