WorldsinMotion: "This week we're covering a virtual world (of sorts) that you may consider surprising that we've never covered before -- NeoPets. A highly successful tween-orientated browser-based experience that's existed for nearly a decade(!) the game has a huge following that is almost unparalleled in the market, so it's absolutely time we gave it an in-depth look as part of our Online World Atlas.
Time to be completely honest; this in-depth article has been delayed because I've spent literally days now just staring at Neopets' homepage trying to make head or tail of it. I'm a person who has managed to hack a MySpace into shape and has managed to grap some of the worst designed online spaces you can find, but Neopets is bewildering."
Recently Skewed and Reviewed spoke with Dominic Law, CEO of Neopets ahead of their NYCC appearance.
Rumors abound about an upcoming Neopets game for the Nintendo Switch, serving as a reminder for players to check on their Neopets. In a bombshell reveal, Neopets Brand Manager Stephanie Lord revealed that the iconic browser based game might be coming to Nintendo Switch in the future. This reveal happened during an interview with the Washington Post, and it seems it may have caused more of a stir than anticipated. At the moment, this supposed Switch port is just a rumor, as Lord refused to comment further on it just as quickly as she made her initial comment. Reading through the interview, it looks like it was just said in passing, indicating that it could have been a slip that wasn't intended to be revealed just yet.
You may have fond memories of Neopets, but did you know about the illegal pet trade wreaking havoc on the site's playerbase?
