Every character gets some love from in Crash Team Racing, even the more minor ones.
I think the original CTR showed that, it's hardly evolved in 20 years.
Even character wise they wasted slots on Gold Mario, Pink Gold Peach, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach etc when they could have been skins. Then you have no character customization or even full on kart customization which goes deeper then what we've got.

I agree but considering the sales number of Mario Kart 9 I doubt that's going to happen.
