Left Alive wasn't that bad i enjoyed it enough to platinum it.

Nitrowolf21782d ago (Edited 1782d ago )

I got the Plat also (least I think I did) but it’s “bad” game

I wanted it to be good, and maybe that’s why I kept playing it but the stealth being it’s main selling point for gameplay never worked to well. I’d say if they had included some of the improved perk from the get go it probably would have fair better in reviews

It’s a shame cause it will probably never be given the chance to improve on all that, especially the wander combat

Rangerman12081782d ago

It's not just the stealth. The shooting felt off, the Ai was all over the place, the janky animations can result some infuriating moments, etc. It really sucks because I was probably one of the few people who found the story and cast of characters.

Honestly, what annoys me the most about the game is its user score on metacritic. The fact that it's higher than most games released on the PS4 and PC is baffling, but at the same strange, especially when I found out that the amount of positive scores on the PS4 version is 95% the same as the PC version's. If these people actually used bots, then the game deserves all the critisim it gets.

The one big praise I can give to Left Alive is that it's nowhere near as bad as games like Gene Rain and Alekhine's gun.

Jammer2101781d ago

Agreed. The game did recieve a patch so to give the devs some credit, they kinda tried their best. I mostly put the blame on Square.

PrensGaia1781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

"It’s a shame cause it will probably never be given the chance to improve on all that, especially the wander combat."

And it's all Square's fault. From what I have read, they didn't have much faith with the poject from the getgo, considering that they only hired a small developer that only worked on a mobile game to develop the title, and the little marketing there was was an early sign. Just shows that Square only made the game just so they get some extra cash from the fans.

The only way Square can redeem themselves is if they either let the devs improve the game or port some of the older Front Mission games to current platforms. They did the latter with Star Ocean after the failure of the 5th installment, so I won't be surprised if Square are actually planning to do the same with the FM series.

Joshua131781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

I mean it's not terrible (there were definitely far worse games released this year), but it was definitely disappointing, especially when this is coming from someone who enjoyed the Front Mission games (including FM:Evolved, which was the weakest of the series). And it wasn't just me and other people that were disappointed, but so were Square.

I don't mind people liking this game (each to their own of course), but I have to disagree to those who thinks this game is worthy to be called a "cult classic" in the future.

Rangerman12081781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

True. I agree on the same spectrumas you despite my previous post sounding a bit negative. And to Jammer, I forgot that the game got a patch that dumbed down the difficulty and added a mode for a more casual audience. Don't know if they're still supporting the game but if this was really the last patch, then I'm kinda disappointed. As Nitrowolf said, Left Alive could be something special if they have enough time to refine the game but ever since Square's tweet on Left Alive's underwhelming sales, only time will tell.

And as I said earlier, I have definitely far worse games. Gene Rain comes to mind since it's a scifi third person shooter where you play as three characters though Left Alive is a superior game compared to Gene Rain.

PrensGaia1781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

@Rangerman1208 You see now that's a better reply than your previous one...sort of.

PrensGaia1781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

The game's mediocre but definitely not terrible.

Still wished it was better though but I doubt Square are gonna bother.

Crackdown 3 was downright a disaster of a game. With all that cloud hype, best graphics it was foretold, shaping up nicely according to Phil Spencer! For me it was a disaster!

CD3 needs a dedicated team to work on the game. Not 2nd party, part time workers and ppl leaving the project for other things. MS needs a dedicated studio for CD3 similar to Halo and Gears. That way MS can oversee and have some control over its development, at least where control is needed. CD3 was simply all over the place and for once MS was too lenient op the devs and the handling of the game.

pietro12121781d ago

You don't understand how a second party developer would actually function

Chevalier1781d ago

It has nothing to do with the studio being 2nd party, it has to do with MS not managing their own game development.

nibblo1781d ago

I enjoyed the hell out of the campaign, some of the best gaming fun I've had in a long time, never touched the multiplayer though. Don't understand the hate though I guess a lot has to do with the stupid "console wars" bs.

sushimama1781d ago

Nah. Days Gone is really good. I played through it twice, one time on Survival mode

travestyj1782d ago

Crackdown 3 was garbage. They should have bailed on that game ages ago. Microsoft still can't make a good game to save their life.

Kiwi661781d ago

But had they bailed on it people on here would talk even more crap about how ms gave up on a game that was hyped up by some

Chevalier1781d ago

Hyped up by some? MS hyped up the game themselves. All this talk about the cloud and the destruction and now the games crap and 'other' people were hyping up the game?

Kiwi661781d ago

Good to see that some people don't get the full context of my comment as "by some" does include MS, guess it has to be spelled out for the less intelligent people

Anthem Sold A Solid 5 Million Copies In Its Lifetime

The multiplayer action RPG shipped a whopping 2 million copies in its first week alone.

JEECE156d ago

A nice piece of proof-as if anymore was needed-that a game isn't automatically a success if it sells "millions of copies."

RiseNShine156d ago

I don't know if it's still possible, but if it still works, PLAY IT. It's a fantastic RPG on it's own, incredible graphics and story, well worth the Bioware name, i don't know how bad it was on release, but when i played years later it was a great single player RPG well worth playing.

ChasterMies156d ago

This a good example of why you should be hesitant to buy a game at launch.

--Onilink--155d ago

Its has been on sale multiple times for like $2-3… and even when not that aggressively dropped, it is usually in the under $10 category of any sale

BlackCountryBob156d ago

That’s good, but also worth pointing out that after maybe 3 months on sale, this game was selling for about a tenner. Reminds me a bit of Days Gone, good sales overall but only after huge discounts so unlikely to make large profit

What a shitty f***** list! Most of the games on it were great fun. Bullshit list.

chantii_mmohaven499d ago

yep this is truly a b*tthurt list :/

MadLad498d ago

I think the only one I agreed on was Anthem, and even that isn't horrendous.

Knushwood Butt499d ago

Anthem; I'd forgotten that game existed. I remember thinking the trailer was BS though; turns out I was right.

Cueil498d ago

the game wasn't bad though

RavenWolfx498d ago

"Worst big budget games" and immediately lists Genshin Impact, a game that has $4 billion in revenue.

blackblades498d ago

$3 billion and counting along with alot of users. I disagree with that being on the list. This list is just a person opinion without merit

monkey602498d ago

I havent played Genshin Impact and Mafia 3 was alright. The rest though I kind of agree with.
I loved the 1st Kane and Lynch and I could not understand how the 2nd game was as bad as it was.
