Nintendo Needs A Streaming Service to Keep the Switch Relevant

Nintendo is non-committal to the idea of streaming services and cloud gaming, but it's time they take advantage of some exciting possibilities.

You can already play Switch anywhere you want, why does it need a streaming service?

gamer78041792d ago

Agreed they could use an achievement system and cloud saves though

porkChop1792d ago

They do have cloud saves now, but an achievement system would be cool. Just take the mission system from My Nintendo and implement that into games. Give people gold coins for completing missions.

Streaming downgrades games, why would anyone need it to stay relevant?
Sony been streaming for years that didnt make xbox irrelevant...smh I swear the media is trying super hard to sell streaming

@Kingtrash360 your right. Just a side note 85% of all news stories are sponsored.

“Agreed they could use an achievement system and cloud saves though“

Cloud saves exist now except for certain games like the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons which is dumb. An achievement system would be nice though.

I’d just like the ability to message my friends on the console.

Switch doesn’t need game streaming at all. It’s selling very well and has amazing Nintendo exclusives that people love.

UnholyLight1791d ago

Exactly. Nintendo has always done things a little differently and that is what works for them and their fanbase is happy with that. The Switch is most definitely RELEVANT you can't brush this thing off especially with how well it has sold. Nintendo making a huge turnaround since the Wii U. I may not own one but I am definitely interested at some point!

CyberSentinel1793d ago

No it doesn't, its doing great without one.

indysurfn1792d ago

If that was the case you would be arguing that AAA 1st party exclusives do not really matter. They do matter. You may not like the ones that Nintendo have, but they have them. Look at the sales of the AAA games, and then look at the ratings/meta reviews. Sounds like you have not tried them if you think they don't exist.

CyberSentinel1792d ago

Nintendo franchises and intellectual properties are some of my favorite first party games. In fact, Nintendo is my favorite game company. I was only commenting on a hypothetical Nintendo streaming service, not their games.
I prefer physical games to streaming services.

StrengthInNumbers1793d ago (Edited 1793d ago )

how does a device that can ALREADY be played anywhere NEED streaming service?

Neonridr1793d ago

would seem weird to stream games to the device when you can just take the games with you..
