Miyazaki Says Working with GRRM Went Surprisingly Smooth, Explains Why He Had Him Writing the Lore

FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki described his collaboration with George R.R. Martin as surprisingly smooth. He also explained why he had him writing the lore of Elden Ring instead of the story of the game itself.

Hopefully GRRM will leave us more than just breadcrumbs and item descriptions to build the world!

When you get the chance to have someone like George work on your game, and someone that really wants to work on it too, is a god bless made in heaven.

I think George have been very busy the last years considering The Winds of Winter is gonna be the next book since Dance of Dragons that was released in 2011.

jeromeface1780d ago

Yea, tell that to "Fire and Blood"

mikeslemonade1779d ago

This gonna be game of the generation for next gen, just like how Bloodborne was game of this gen.

As far as I understand it GRRM has created the whole setting (world, characters, myth) but it's up to Miyazaki what he uses and how he implements it into the game. I don't expect a huge change in how the story is told compared to other Miyazaki games (which is a good thing in my book).

Looking forward to checking it out!

AnnaDea1780d ago

I think this game will be so god damn good. Giving George creative freedom and while retaining the same for Miyazaki.

SyntheticForm1780d ago

When I picture this game in my head I see greatness.

killswitch801780d ago

GRRM is master of lore do you need more.

harmny1780d ago

Yes. I needed him to continue with the show. Lazy fat guy.

Movefasta19931779d ago

He's not lazy, he's most likely tired. A lazy person couldn't write those novels that are rich in story while being a lazy person. He's old.

harmny1779d ago (Edited 1779d ago )

When he wrote them he wasn't lazy

Elden Ring Killed Gaming For Me & It's About To Do It Again

Saad from eXputer: "Utilizing its myriad strengths and masterful design, Elden Ring ruined gaming for me in a way I'll always be thankful for."

GhostScholar2d ago

It sounds like you’re just an eldenring fan and not so much a fan of games by and large. Which theres nothing wrong with.

RoadRacer1d 4h ago

The author's profile appears to state otherwise. I believe they just got a massive shock with Elden Ring, something that stuck around. To each their own I guess

Crows901d 15h ago

Elden ring ruined from software for me....maybe.

I hope their next game isn't open world too...

ravens521d 12h ago

I have yet to beat Elden Ring. Not cause it's too hard , I've beaten Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demon Souls etc. Also I could just make my character op but I prefer to play under leveled. It's too big. I beat Radaghan or the moon lady last then got lost, lost for years lol. I'm going to beat it tho. Haven't played it in a while

Crows901d 4h ago

I platinumed the game but hated the open world aspect...started great but then after a bit you notice all the repeated dungeons and bosses...it got massively tedious and much preferred late game areas in a typical souls game than the open world repetition.

GhostScholar1d 4h ago

The ole “I’m so good at hard games I had to play under leveled to get challenged and if I worked that hard in real life I wouldn’t be working at Walmart”

ravens524h ago

? Don't work at Walmart or any type of retail...lol. But w.e. Makes you feel better about ya sad life 🤷🏽 lol. You probably just suck at games lmao.

I loved it but yeah it is just overwhelmingly massive and confusing, I don’t think I’ll ever finish it.

I really enjoyed Good Job game...too bad that they are closing

mastershredder1d 19h ago

Considering the level of games they made, I'm surprised that more than 2 people worked there. 45 people (+ outsourcing) making mediocre mobile games, like cut the rope. I mean dude....Nintendo stooped to new lows in quality development and entertainment standards.
