Elden Ring Is an Evolution of Dark Souls Says Creator

FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, director of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, sits down with IGN to tell you what to expect from his new game Elden Ring.

ps3rider1781d ago

That is good news.

By DS3 in my opinion souls franchises has given everything so DS4 won't add more

djplonker1781d ago

3 games trying to break the cycle and we finally start to get an alternative to fire / dark..... So ds4 would atleast add alot to the lore.

I would prefer them to take their time though since there has been quite a few rushed areas and alot of unused ideas in the series.

MWH1781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

I agree but i also wouldn't mind a good DS4.

AnnaDea1781d ago

This game will be the tits.

I feel it is logical to move the "souls' thing to a real open world. At least one time. Just to see what FromSoftware can bring to that style of game. I am really really excited. Think about it, Sekiro having a whole lot of 'mini boosses'. Image this game having even more? I can only imagine what the possibilities would be for an open world FromSoft game.
This is BY FAR my most anticipated game. Even if only for it's potential to change the way an open world plays. When I first played Demon's Souls on PS3, it became my favourite game of all time, dethroning FF7. It changing gaming forever for me. Maybe this game can change open world games for the better. I looking forward to seeing more

Open world by FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki it's my dream game , great gameplay and combat, a lot of bosses and mini bosses, a lot of secrets and hidden places, a lot of great soundtrack (like DS 3) , great visual world and lore

FalconofLucis981781d ago

Dark Souls has no story. Maybe it beats FF7 in terms of gameplay, but definitely not story. Thats Squaresofts department not Fromsofts.

Chriswynnetbh1781d ago

Squaresoft doesn't exist anymore. And SE can't touch the amount of detail and lore that FromSoft puts into their games. If you are just playing the game and not reading item descriptions or paying attention to all of the little details you're going to miss 80% of the storytelling. There are probably less than ten cutscenes in all of Bloodborne and that game told a better story then anything SE has put out in the past decade.

I'm not a souls fan but c'mon. Souls games are deep in lore. Final Fantasy these days says it needs anime spinoffs. CG films. Tons of DLC. Manga spinoffs and smartphone games to explain FFXV's story and even with all that there is not much there. It's like Final Fantasy is Twilight books and Dark Souls is the opening 8 minutes of Pixar's UP. More is said in less time. A shorter but richer experience.

Dragonscale1781d ago

All the Souls games have a story, and they are great stories but they're not in your face like usual game stories, you have to discover them for yourself. They are actually better games for it and not necessary to actually enjoy the games.

on_line_forever1781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

Thank you Hidetaka Miyazaki Dark Souls give me the passion and challenge I really need to continue and love playing games to this day , my body is ready and so excited for Elden Ring

Spurg1781d ago (Edited 1781d ago )

"Miyazaki gives three reasons to why he wanted to introduce this new type of environment: showing the game’s world and lore on a grander scale"

The lore in Dark souls is unmatched to this day and none of the games he released after Dark souls were able to be at the same level. Almost everything in Dark souls made sense and had a reason to be there the subsequent games were quite random and had no explanations for certain things, leaving the player clueless.

nucky641781d ago

i think the demon souls lore of boletaria was more interesting. but, it's a subjective question so there is really no "wrong" answer.

Chriswynnetbh1781d ago

Bloodborne has amazing lore. Not saying it is better than DS but I definitely think it tells a more focused story for sure.

Elden Ring Killed Gaming For Me & It's About To Do It Again

Saad from eXputer: "Utilizing its myriad strengths and masterful design, Elden Ring ruined gaming for me in a way I'll always be thankful for."

GhostScholar2d ago

It sounds like you’re just an eldenring fan and not so much a fan of games by and large. Which theres nothing wrong with.

RoadRacer1d 11h ago

The author's profile appears to state otherwise. I believe they just got a massive shock with Elden Ring, something that stuck around. To each their own I guess

Crows901d 22h ago

Elden ring ruined from software for me....maybe.

I hope their next game isn't open world too...

ravens521d 19h ago

I have yet to beat Elden Ring. Not cause it's too hard , I've beaten Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demon Souls etc. Also I could just make my character op but I prefer to play under leveled. It's too big. I beat Radaghan or the moon lady last then got lost, lost for years lol. I'm going to beat it tho. Haven't played it in a while

Crows901d 11h ago

I platinumed the game but hated the open world aspect...started great but then after a bit you notice all the repeated dungeons and bosses...it got massively tedious and much preferred late game areas in a typical souls game than the open world repetition.

GhostScholar1d 11h ago

The ole “I’m so good at hard games I had to play under leveled to get challenged and if I worked that hard in real life I wouldn’t be working at Walmart”

ravens5211h ago

? Don't work at Walmart or any type of retail...lol. But w.e. Makes you feel better about ya sad life 🤷🏽 lol. You probably just suck at games lmao.

I loved it but yeah it is just overwhelmingly massive and confusing, I don’t think I’ll ever finish it.

I really enjoyed Good Job game...too bad that they are closing

mastershredder2d ago

Considering the level of games they made, I'm surprised that more than 2 people worked there. 45 people (+ outsourcing) making mediocre mobile games, like cut the rope. I mean dude....Nintendo stooped to new lows in quality development and entertainment standards.
