" Does it top what Mario Kart 8 did five years ago? Once again, no "

Mario Kart 8 didn't have a campaign like mode and the battle mode, compared to previous games, was half finished which they only fixed in the new Deluxe version

That alone in my opinion lets CTR top it.

Jackhass1791d ago

Eh, Mario Kart 8 definitely wasn't "half finished," but if you prefer CTR, more power to ya!

-Foxtrot1791d ago

I said the battle mode

It was, I don't know why people can't admit it, Mario Kart 8 is the only Battle Mode in the entire Mario Kart franchise to use actual race courses.

Compare the battle mode in Mario Kart 8 to the battle mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you'll see the difference straight away. They didn't even have full battle arenas

Block City, Tart Top, Chain Chomp Wheel, Skyscraper,Sweet Sweet Kingdom? Nope

Why use actual race courses for the types of modes offered and how they are supposed to be made? It made zero sense.

But no other Kart game plays as well as Mario Kart 8

EddieNX 1790d ago

CTR is no no way near as Good as MK8. Stop kidding yourself. MK8 is a perfect game.

-Foxtrot1790d ago

Perfect? Despite my battle mode point above? Lol it’s really not. You do know what perfect means right?

To be honest you think any Nintendo game is perfect anyway so...

Profchaos1790d ago

It's not meant to be it's a re make of a 20 odd year old game if they deviated from the remake aspect fans looking for a nostalgia hit would hate it.

Re make of 20 year old title vs a relatively new Mario kart feels like that comparison is a bit like why didn't crash Bandicoot nsane trilogy feature the same things that Mario odesessy did

yoshatabi1790d ago

Mk8 is pretty boring tbh. That's just my opinion though. Crash was always so much more fun compared to Mario even back in the days

Newmanator1790d ago

Help me here Foxtrot. This guy says there’s no Red Shell and no Super Star powerup.
I’ve only played Mario Kart around 5 times; but isn’t the Bomb the exact same as the red shell and the Masks the same as the super star power??

It looks like it could be interesting, certainly seems to have a decent amount of extra content gameplay wise than the mentioned MK8, as -Foxtrot says. I can't say I'm enthused about the 'live service' nonsense though, but I'm sick to the back teeth of live service games already.

I could use a better kart racer in my life after Sonic failed to deliver.

Jackhass1791d ago

Yeah, Sonic kind of left it wide open for Crash.

Alexious1791d ago

I'll wait for the inevitable PC release.

zodiac9091790d ago

I bet they will screw up the feel of the controls like they did with N. Sane trilogy -.-

Newmanator1790d ago

Felt the same to me. I know the impact boxes were slightly off or whatever they are called but it just meant a bit more skill was required.

Profchaos1790d ago

Apples to oranges in a way retrospectively the game originally released as an attempt to give PS players a kart racer that could rival the giant that was Mario kart 64 and they did make a solid game but it's unique in its own way I don't think it needs to be compared to Mario kart as the game is a remake of a 90s game it's not meant to compete with Mario kart 8 it's a nostalgia product.

If Nintendo re release mario 64 would they get unfair comparisons like the game doesn't control as well as galaxy
