Microsoft’s E3 Presentation Review: Being (not really) Excellent

Microsoft, to cut short, just took care of the usual business. This conference was nowhere near as good as last years–to which it acted as just a footnote. The company made some bold moves and promises last year, which gamers loved. This year, all it did was remind them that they were being kept. This was both a good and bad thing, as it meant that nothing original or too exciting really happened. But hey, Keanu Reeves showed up, and that in itself is kind of a reward.

The games were good but the way the paced it was mediocre.
-there should have been an emphasis of gameplay demo for at least 2 games.
-Gears 5 needed a campaign gameplay reveal.
-Halo infinite's trailer was just for the fans but it looked like it was about to reveal gameplay.
-No new IP was a disappointment (Bleeding edge leaking as a shame and took the shock value away)
-Fable 4 not showing up was honestly quite surprising considering Playground games have a clip on twitter showing what they called a new AAA RPG studio.

Yes, they did basically everything wrong you can do in a show:

- ONLY one new IP, Bleeding Edge (the leak was not their fault), a 4x4 MP game nobody asked for.
- Most of their games were made to appear as if they were only going to appear on the Xbox when they are actually Multiplatform.
- The footage in most cases were CGI trailers, even for games that already showed gameplay in years past like Gears 5 were showed in CGI form
- They used celebrities to promote their games, again gears 5 with WWE fighters that were there for no reason whatsoever, because they did nothing (Keanu was CD project Red so I will not count that).
- They showed mobile games, again Gears.
- They put a car on the show, but wait!! This time it was made out of Legos

And they talked about next gen with a pre-made video that basically said word for word in most cases what Sony said a month ago about the PS5 and Phil didn't even say that it was going to be the most powerful next generation console, he only said that it was going to be the most powerful xbox ever made.

Plus they had the chance to show us the first even next gen footage to WOW us and they used it to show that underwhelming Halo Trailer.

And I totally forgot, special mention to Bambi bashing his head into a vending machine. I was amazed that they put a game like that as an Xbox showcase game.

People say that Halo infinite doesnt look next gen enough but if you compare it to the. H2A blur cutscenes it holds up quite well. Ofcourse looking at gameplay would have sealed the deal, but it looks better than practically any game this gen which qualifies it as next gen.

These press conferences are all hype... Did Xbox do well, yeah, it doesn't really matter if it all spoke to you, there's something for everyone in this one and it's fine... but really all these "press conferences" are "fine" not great, not awful, the people trying to rate them are just trying to find ways to get clicks.

With all the rumors that were going around, this conference was quite over hyped.

Basically mediocre in my opinion

There won't be no more acquiring game publishers from Microsoft in the future . Xbox has to pay Microsoft back. It might take two decades to do that.

There really needs to be a class action lawsuit here. You buy these companies just to put people out of jobs. And it’s not like something happened to derail their plans this WAS the plan. Microsoft has no business in this space at all.

franwex1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Microsoft has been doing this for years. They simply want the IPs. Look at Nokia. Look at Skype. This time it simply expanded to games. Gaming is not as important to Microsoft’s executives as it was to the founders too. Bill Gates was willing to sell the og Xbox at a loss. Steve Balmer approved the red ring of death fiasco. This CEO isn’t really a gamer.

Maybe it's time though to put a stop to it and use a big giant like Microsoft as a huge example to the rest of these big companies.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

People like the FTC and the like went against Microsoft yet their Actvision deal was still allowed to go through yet look what's happened...it's not even Acitivisions studios aswell, it's Bethesdas.

Ninja Theory, Perfect Dark, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Wolfenstein 3, Dishonored, Prey, Doom, Quake... something tells me that bad things are going to happen to these entities under Microsoft.

Good thing the bosses of all those small studios made their money.
