An opinion already ready when the show just ended and E3 isn't even over.

Edit: This isn't to say they didn't have a good show, because they did. We see games we're going to play in the future. But, this opinion was immediate and claiming crown-sake with the first real conference the only thing done so far.

Parasidious1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Opinion. No they didn't. Not a single AAA game shown had any gameplay footage. Only 1 new IP. SoT(2015) was the last new IP that Microsoft Studious has announced.

The entire conference seemed like an ad for GamePass. You're lying to yourself if you thought that was their best.

Parasidious1800d ago

@xxExacutionerxx If all you have is deflection, you've proved my point.

Darkxen1171800d ago

14 AAA games! You're blind.

Parasidious1800d ago

@Darkxen117 ...and no gameplay for any of them, none of them 1st party new IPs. You should work on your reading comprehension before you comment.

sprinterboy1800d ago

That was my biggest gripe, the big announcements looked great but no gameplay

1800d ago
_SilverHawk_1800d ago

E3 is literally rubbish without Sony playstation and Microsoft xbox proved that. The xbox conference was pure rubbish and I think that show illustrated why itll be silly to get an xbox next generation console over a ps5. Xbox conference was all about xbox game pass

XxExacutionerxX1800d ago

Why are you watching E3 if Sony isn’t at the show? Sony could have paid for a floor to show 3th party games. Or show a Last Of Us 2 trailer.... You wasted an hour of your life to come on N4G and bash Microsoft. Your proving my point about Sony fanboys.

Parasidious1800d ago

@xxExacutinerxx Stating facts doesn't make a fanboy and I watch E3 because I'm interested in games on all platforms and expect to see at least some gameplay when games are announced.

AspiringProGenji1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

You just got shut down and this is what you come up with? Lol weak. learn to take criticism

343_Guilty_Spark1800d ago

Surely they are saving things from Scarlett. They have like five studios working on games. One is working on a " AAAA", Playground is supposedly working on Fable, and others have their own game.

You act like there aren't a glutton of games already. I mean I have never been so overwhelmed by the sheer number of games available. I have a back catalog the size of Everest.

kneon1800d ago

@Darkxen117

How many are real exclusives, or can I play them all on my PC?

I didn't watch so I really don't know.

Razzer1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

@343_Guilty_Spark

"Surely they are saving things from Scarlett. They have like five studios working on games. One is working on a " AAAA", Playground is supposedly working on Fable, and others have their own game. "

Man, where were you when folks were saying Sony has "nothing" to show and that is why they are not at E3?

itsmebryan1800d ago

So, who do you think won E3 out of the people that showed up? You have to choose one.

XxExacutionerxX1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

If Microsoft would’ve bailed this year and Sony had a floor at e3. It would’ve been something like “Microsoft has no games to show, Look at Sony own this years E3... yeah Microsoft they suck blah blah blah blah” you kids are funny. Sony could show trailers of story board concepts with game coming out later and you guys would praise them, lol

Parasidious1800d ago

@itsmebryan Still 2 more days of conferences. Which makes this article even more ridiculous. Claiming a winner when it isn't even over yet.

No Way1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Parasidious - What are you on about? Psychonauts 2, Forza 4, Minecraft, SoD2 and Bleeding Edge all had gameplay. That's just off the top of my head. They even showed off Obsidians new game, while it's not a 1st party game, it's cool they still let them show off their game. Why show Halo, when they announced it would arrive with the next xbox - next Christmas. It'll show at next E3. There is Gears of War 5 game-play.

Did you even watch or care to look? Or you just like 3/4 of this site that just likes to cause drama and spew nonsensical fanboyism banter?

darthv721800d ago

You do realize there are a few more days to see gameplay from the show floor... right?

The stage was about reveals and trailers. The show floor is for hands on and gameplay. That is how MS does it.

Unspoken1800d ago

You didn't bother watching Gears 5 gameplay? This was practically the same Sony did during their event last year. They showed games and fanboys are still throwing their arms up.

harmny1800d ago

Ninja theory's new game is a new IP.
And they're owned by microsoft therefore it's a first party game.

trooper_1800d ago

Lol @ Exacutioner: Sony’s sitting back and sipping their margarita. They’re letting Microsoft hang themselves, which they did.

sampsonon1799d ago

@XxExacutionerxX: making AAA games.

sampsonon1799d ago (Edited 1799d ago )

@Darkxen117: "14 AAA games! You're blind."

Name 5 of them. and make sure they are EXCLUSIVES or it means $shit.

BadElf1799d ago

I have to agree. The lack of gameplay was a terrible decision. Before E3 I was wondering what we'll be playing post Gears 5, up until Next gen launch day. Now Post conference....I'm still wondering that. Just nothing of substance. Even with Gears 5, what did we see? New game mode is fine, its always good to have options, but how is that it?
I know there's a possibility of more info coming this week(Maybe Banjo news on Nintendo's show...but come on.

Army_of_Darkness1799d ago

I only watch e3 for the Sony conference... However, since this year Sony isn't attending I kept an open mind and watched the MS and bestesda conference.... Ms was all about convincing you to get gamepass in which I didn't care for because the games they showed weren't anything special to be honest. Best moment was when Keanu reeves made an appearance for cyberpunk 2077. That was cool... Other than that, I was more sad that Sony wasn't there... I found bestesda's conference a lot better in terms of games shown so I'd vote on them to be the best this year.

Isn't the crown always about the console makers though? I rarely see a 3rd party publisher claiming the crown, although I sometimes see people claiming one has the best conference

Christopher1800d ago

Last year definitely wasn't won by a console maker IIRC. It was a pretty low effort year all around.

rainslacker1800d ago

I was thinking more about what we rate and who we even consider in the running. We'll give credit to a good conference from any publisher, except console makers are held to a higher standard, and when we talk about who won, it's usually just the console makers.

1799d ago
solideagle1800d ago

I thought Green side never liked cinematic experiences /s :D

alb18991800d ago

Games with dates and all for gamepass. We have seen gameplay of gears and Cyber Punk and from Halo that was the engine. I did want to see the new iPs that the new studios are working out but today isn't the end of the world you can't show everything you have and pretend to have something to show next year.......that happened to Sony two years in a row.

Unspoken1800d ago

Haha a page out of Sony's book. Nicely done MS.

Spurg1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

It did a decent job. I preferred last years E3, it was better paced.
-The leaks ruined some of the surprises. I'm glad Ninja Theory clear things for people who have to be spoon fed info. They are working on multiple projects.
-I did not like the Gears 5 announcement. They did a grand disservice by not showing gameplay. I know it will be on mixer later one but that was the stage to show it.
-I would cut some Indies out.
-Halo was marvelous
-The Scarlett announcement was great but it should have been midshow.
-The Xcloud stuff was a bit confusing...need to rewatch it.
-Double fine acquisition great but I was expecting more acquisitions. Double fine is a great addition.
-Not enough gameplay demos
-I know the new studios are not ready to show anything but I would have been cool if they shows some exclusives.
-No Fable was quite a surprise considering Playground games showwd a snippet of Thier second team on twitter, which they dubbed it a AAA RPG studio

HighPlayer281800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Yeah was not the best E3 at all to much indies and no AAA gameplay from Halo or Gears smh. And they should have revealed Lockhart specs and released it early next yr. Another missed oppurtunity for Microsoft to create buzz.

Stanjara1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Great summary! They should have shown Gears gameplay cause it's coming this year. Lots of CGI trailers. Those Indies and elite controller should have been on inside Xbox, not for the main stage. That Bambi simulator omg. Halo was fantastic!

LOGICWINS1800d ago

Best E3 Microsoft has ever had. I'd give them an A- because I expected them to go in depth with regards to XCloud.

I'm guessing the Xbox Game Pass announcement will happen during Nintendo's Direct.

xX-oldboy-Xx1800d ago

Really? Clearly the best thing was CYBERPUNK 2077 - nothing, literally nothing came close. It was depressing more than anything, undies and cinematic trailers.

xX-oldboy-Xx1800d ago

hahahahaha - auto corrected indies to unides

NeoGamer2321800d ago

Completely disagree.

Gamers have complained about MS putting out quality first party content for literally the best decade.

In this E3 we saw some of the new studios stepping in with content and a lot that will ship before the next E3...

Minecraft Dungeons
Outer Worlds
Ori and the Willow Wisps
Forza Horizon 4 Lego expansion
Bleeding Edge
Gears of War 5
State of Decay 2 Expansion

Plus they have added Double Fine Studios with Psychonauts 2

I know this isn't exactly earth shattering, but the investments into first party studios over the last couple years is starting to show. And they still didn't say anything new from Rare, The Initiative, Compulsion Games, inXile, The Playground RPG, etc. They did a good job of getting more content out, but they didn't dump everything, leaving them room for more next year.

xX-oldboy-Xx1800d ago

Neogamer232 - But none of that came close to CYBERPUNK 2077. And 2 of the games you listed are coming to PS4, the rest are sequels - and most were shown in cinematic form.

Indefensible.

Tazzy1800d ago

Agreed Cyberpunk looks promising I think e3 was an epic fail by Microsoft and Sony wasn't even there and nobody knows what Nintendo has planned.

Snookies121799d ago (Edited 1799d ago )

Tales of Arise was a great one shown. It is a huge leap forward for that franchise, using an entirely new engine. Plus it was all in-game footage shown. Other than that and Cyberpunk though, not much particularly wowed me.

This conference had its moments, I'd say it was good showing overall for Microsoft. Just not anything spectacular.

JCOLE131951800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

What the hell makes you think it’s the best they ever had? Listen, I’m an Xbox owner but they showed nothing that made me go wow. No new IP’s, hardly if any gameplay, etc. It just wasn’t great. They had a chance because they had the stage to themselves this year but they blew it.

DaDrunkenJester1800d ago

Bleeding Edge is a new IP from Ninja Theory. That Ori 2 footage didnt blow you away? That new Gears 5 mode doesnt sound fun to you? There was a lot I took from that showing that excited me. Maybe you're all too cynical.

I'm not a huge fan of the art direction for Battletoads, but 3 player couch co-op will surely be fun.

crazyCoconuts1800d ago

They didn't label many games as "exclusive" - I'd like to see how many aren't coming to PS. MS Flight Simulator looked phenomenal - assuming that's not coming to PS. Most exciting thing for me was the PC Game Pass.

BLow1800d ago

I wish all Xbox owners were like you. All these fanboys do is blindly except anything MS. There is NO ex use why we didn't see Gears gameplay. No ex use I'm sorry. That game comes out this year and you should have showed it on stage. Same as Halo. Your 2 biggest IPs and you show nothing.

And I'm talking about a long gameplay demo and not some freaking montage video with a little gameplay in it like last year.

Five me a freaking break. And Ninja Theory disappointed me as well even though we already knew about the game from a leak. No rumored Fable either.

I'm still trying to figure out how MA could mess this up. And the Scarlett video lol. They basically repeated what Sony said about the PS5. It's like they didn't even try.

Morgue1799d ago

As someone such as yourself who has been posting on this site either as long as me ( 11 years ) or even longer. I have never seen anyone with over a hundred disagrees. If this post is total sarcasm. Nice job.

AngelicIceDiamond1800d ago

MS needs to stop this fascination with indie games. That's whats killing it for me. No Fable 4 pretty sad. Conference overall mediocre. Looks like all their games will be purely next gen now.

LOGICWINS1800d ago

Mediocre? Did we see the same conference?

AngelicIceDiamond1800d ago

Personally i didn't like it too much. Not a huge Gears fan but that hoard mode looks really good and very well done. But for me as I said it was the indie games. I can't do it anymore nobody cares about those its useless filler. Those JRPGS looked great and I'm glad continued support on those MS needs it. Plus I'm confused on which of those 14 games are exclusive? No Fable 4 at all but Bleeding Edge does have my interest now. Halo looks good and next gen is be monstrous for MS I will say that there next gen console will be fantastic. But its my fault for reading too much into the rumors leading up to E3. Let myself down lol. Just like last year a good showcase for whats to come with scarlett and beyond but overall just average 6/10 show. Not the worst conference no but all that hype almost for nothing.

DuckOnQuack351800d ago

To be fair saying it was mediocre is putting it nicely. It was total garbage. Should've showed the last 15 minutes and cut it off. It was that bad

TK-661800d ago

Nah sorry. Indie games more often than not end up being better than full priced AAA games so they deserve a space on the stage.

agent131800d ago

isn't that too much space? like giving 70% of your conference to indie games nobody cares about.

TK-661800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

"like giving 70% of your conference to indie games nobody cares about."

You don't care about good games? Whats your 70% number based on?

Spurg1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Yeah the lack of Fable 4 was quite disappointing especially after this video on twitter.

https://twitter.com/WeArePl...

They were better off showing that trailer at E3

AngelicIceDiamond1800d ago

Maybe Gamescom they'll announce Fable it is a European based studio.

aconnellan1800d ago

Where were you at launch?

2013: not enough indies

2019: too many indies

Completely disagree - they had some bigger games there as well

“Looks like all their games will be purely next gen now”

I’m pretty sure only Halo was announced to be launching with next gen - everything else had an early-mid 2019 release

Immorals1800d ago

In 2014 this page was crawling with people saying Sony 'killed it' with indie games. Don't belive me? Go look it up.

Razzer1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Were you agreeing with them? Better yet, just post the link.

1800d ago
BlackTar1871800d ago

Comparing games from launch period to end of console lifecycle is funny. Indies to fill space as development ramped up compared to showing indies while development ramped up in year 6

1800d ago
rainslacker1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

I liked a few of the indie games they showed. I like that indies are getting stage time, but the way they did it this year, I didn't like much. That sizzle reel had a lot of games, but they were only for like 5 seconds each, and you barely got to see them before they were onto the next. Blink, and you'd miss one.

lack of PlayGround's new game was disappointing, although it's rumored to be Fable, I'd like to see what they were working on before the acquisition.

12 minutes looked really cool, even if it were indie.

Anything Lego is always good for me, and Forza lego was a nice bonus for the one game I still play on my system.

Flight Simulator is a big announcement. Maybe not for console, as it can be kind of dry for what console gamers are used to, but it's a huge franchise on PC. For those who aren't aware, it's supposed to simulate flying a plane, so it's not like Ace Combat.

I also thought Legend of Wright looked cool.

But, overall, I think if they want to capture the market, especially for next gen, they need more of the big high profile games. Maybe they're still holding back, but I think some people expect more from the new studios, while disregarding the fact that most of the acquisitions are mid-tier or indie studios.

I was disappointed in the doublefine purchase, but will play their games.

343_Guilty_Spark1800d ago (Edited 1800d ago )

Indies make some really good games

Some of my favorite games have been indies:

Cuphead
Ori
Outland
Hyper Light Drifter
I mean there are literally dozens of great indies

Not sure what you're talking about
Everything doesn't have to be a B-rated movie game.

Razzer1800d ago

Yeah...cuz we all watch E3 for indies! If you are defending indies after a MS conference.....it wasn't that good. lol

1800d ago
343_Guilty_Spark1800d ago

Implying your mom doesn't make enough Chaturbate videos

Dragonscale1799d ago

But indie covers a huge demographic. Yeah theres a lot of shovelware but there are some fantastic indie games tbh. Technically games like cyberpunk are indies as cdp are independant devs. Generally theres a lot more creativity with indies over a lot of aaa's nowadays.

sprinterboy1799d ago (Edited 1799d ago )

I think that's why playstation didn't have a conference, everything is literally nxt gen now and too early to show.
I was thinking all the 3rd party studios would flock to MS E3 but no, so it's obvious 90% of stuff is nxt gen now.
Been disappointed with E3 overall tbh. I literally have 3 games which I'm super exited about until nxt gen (ds, tlou pt2 and cyberpunk) other than that there's a handful of decent 3rd party.
I think my wallet will have plenty of cash in it with less games purchases to put twds my 4ktv now though so that's 1 plus point u guess.

The only this MS is expanding is the amount of feculence it sprays on everyone who just want to enjoy gaming and make games.

The best thing MS can do for the gaming industry is leave and never return.
