Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, The Last Of Us Multiplayer To Be Shut Down In September

From PlayStation Universe: "Naughty Dog and Sony will be shutting down the servers to the multiplayer component of Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 and The Last Of Us for PS3 on September 3, 2019. The Last Of Us Remastered‘s multiplayer component on PS4 will still remain live after September 3."

while you got Anthem throwing blue filters on stuff and calling it a cataclysm. Bioware couldn't even come up there own name instead they ripped it off from WoW.

Right after that particular thought, you must have thought "hmm, I feel like playing some online with Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Socom: Confrontation, Socom 4, M.A.G., Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, Resistance 3, StarHawk, WarHawk, Motorstorm, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Motorstorm: Apocalypse, Gran Turismo 6.....oh, wait a minute, weren't most of these game servers shut down years ago?"

Sony is hands down, the worst for supporting their games online over a long period of time. This is just what they do. They let their key game franchises go down the tubes, like Killzone and Socom as prime examples, and then they shut down the online infrastructure within a shorter period of time than any other major publisher, including Microsoft.

Try to name another company that is worse! The best part about this is reading the comments with people celebrating this! You can't make this stuff up! Well now, you can add Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us to the list, but I suppose if you've ponied up and bought TLoU for the 2nd time on PS4, you're still in business....for a while anyway. I'm sure PS Now subscribers are going to love this! Absolutely ridiculous and completely unacceptable.

Even PS4 owners can play FTP games without PS+, how goods that? I know a trillion dollar company that charges it's consumers to play something free to the rest of the gaming community.

I hope they overhaul the trophy system to prevent trophies appearing as not earned if it is no longer possible to earn them.
Maybe its right that you don't get the platinum, but its wrong that it stops you from getting 100%.

I think they should ‘unlock’ when the servers close. But not show the unlock date/time in the trophy description. That way platinum and 100% is still obtainable but also distinguishes those who earned the mp trophies by playing. Also opens up easier platinums without discrediting those who earned them on live servers

The only problem with that is that if theres a game with mostly multiplayer trophies, the platinum will be devalued and will be unfair on those who earned it properly before the servers shut down.

There's never been a game like it...and by that I mean more about skill then unlocks. They ruined the multiplayer in Uncharted 3 and 4

Have there been any Xbox 360-era games Microsoft has taken offline? I still recall there being active (no matter how small) communities on OG Halo 3 (even after MCC) and Halo Reach.

It's a shame when things like this happen. Hopefully backwards compatibility will lead us and Sony down a path where they can have frameworks in place to dynamically scale servers based on player count, instead of arbitrary EoL on those games.

Didn't even know Uncharted Multiplayer was still a thing. I used to play the shit out of Uncharted 2 and 3 multiplayer, it was REALLY well done! Not surprised it still lasted all this time.

It’s actually servers running, not sure the details but you can get on. I think it’s all third party and some publishers make money just by charging a fee for people to rent servers.

Even original CoD2 servers are still running. This is where Sony really falls flat on their face. I loved Uncharted 2, and had some great memories playing online co-op, and the verses matches, but Sony can't be excused. Name another publisher that has shut down all of their previous multiplayer servers in virtually every major game franchise. EA has been guilty of doing this with some of their sports games, and Konami shut down the MGS4 servers too soon also, but otherwise, nobody else does this, and certainly not on the scale that Sony does this.
