Death Stranding Multiplayer To Offer Asynchronous Gameplay, No Player Will Ever Cross Paths

Mp1st writes - It has been long confirmed that Death Stranding would in some way offer a multiplayer experience. And while we did receive a new trailer and a release date earlier today, there’s not a lot of info known about not only the single-player, but also regarding the game’s multplayer and what it has to offer.

One of my favourite elements of Dark Souls, outside the atmosphere, is the ability to see and be helped by/help other players. Death Stranding seems to be getting that aspect beautifully.

The help system had a rich presence but really didn't add anything to the game especially when the Souls Wikis exist. When most of the messages are Praise the Sun and Strong Foe Ahead its more of a waste of time stopping to read that nonsense than anything else.

Hopefully this is just a start and a good PvP element will be added but I won't hold my breath for it.

Yeah, I think the help system did more to add to the atmosphere itself. I recall vividly on my first play through of Dark Souls 3, feeling the dread of potential death and wondering how far I had to go until I reached a somewhat safe area. Those moments where relief came, and it was found by some helpful messages - were superb.

I've always thought asynchronous multiplayer was a great way to give a single player narrative experience more social interaction without tacking on something that requires a whole new style of typical multiplayer gameplay. Probably a lot less effort to build overall too.
