That´s one of the many reasons why Sony skipping E3 is a complete letdown. Kojima could use worldwide media attention to explain his game in detail. Specially how the MP part of the game works. Hopefully Sony will host a PSX event this year.

Why would Kojima do that? That would destroy any sense of discovery. Look at 99% of the games play the same, and have similar stories and pacing.

Skipping E3 - who cares? We already know the big games from Sony, State Of Play is enough. If they do a PSX it will be about PS5 and PS5 only.

His first ip? I don't think so haha, his new studio's first ip - yes. This game won't sell Spider-Man or GOW numbers - it doesn't need to. I'm sure Sony and Kojima haven't place an unrealistic sales forecast on DS.

It knows it's audience, and if is well made and received will sell just fine. If it's a dud - so be it, shit happens.

Yeah, Twitter, Twitch, YoutTube, countless forums such as this one or reddit, and various gaming sites which would cover a trailer anyways have nowhere near the reach of E3 which doesn't get 1/100th of the number of views of all those other outlets combined. About all E3 offers is some extra mainstream attention, and I doubt that would do much for Kojima's brand of weird.

I miss the Metal Gear Solid trailers that Kojima did for Snake Eater and MGS 4. That's how you do a Kojima trailer, long and full of gameplay with cryptic stuff in it.
