I'm sure most of these franchises aren't "dead". The definition of dead in this article is either hasn't been released in years, poor sales, lack of support or any combination of all three, which might be misleading.

I don’t think an IP’s dead just because it’s been a few years since the last. Especially if the developer’s been busy.
For that reason I don’t think Killzone is necessarily killed. Uncharted didn’t die during the 5 year gap between 3 and 4 when ND switched gears to TLOU. Came back and sold more than ever.
Dead Space on the other hand. When the developer gets shut down and the publisher stops supporting the genre, yeah you can make a case.
Heavenly Sword is probably dead. The animated Netflix movie I saw pop up a couple years ago was the only new addition this gen. Developer got bought by MS.
