Ghost Recon Breakpoint is on Epic Games Store and Uplay but not Steam

Today, Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the latest installment in the long-running military shooter series and a sequel to 2017's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands. In development for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, Breakpoint is actually releasing this year, on October 4. And when it does, it won't be coming to Steam. That's right: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint will come to Uplay and the Epic Games Store, but not Steam.

Not surprised tbh, Ubisoft had stated that they won't be putting their games on Steam anymore (not that they were outstanding to begin with). You can bet that Epic probably paid them maybe 30 million dollars or more.

BrianOBlivion1826d ago

Probably didn't paid them a dime. 12% vs 30% sells itself.

Shinkus1826d ago

You do realize it's not that simple right? Steam's playerbase is multiple times larger than epic game store.

BrianOBlivion1826d ago

It really is that simple. Steam and Epic are just stores. PC is the platform. Anyone with a PC can purchase products from either store just as easily. Buy from the store that has the game available and/or has the best price just like any other retail product. We're not talking about paid subscriptions or console exclusives here.

Livingthedream1826d ago

@Brian not sure why you have the disagrees, ubi takes more home with every sale on Epic that's a non debatable fact.

Blu3_Berry1825d ago

Why don't they put the game on Discord or GOG then? They both got good revenue for developers/publishers.

I look forward to steam's eventual and inevitable demise.

Sgt_Slaughter1826d ago

Steam is "too big to fail" so you'll be waiting forever

SegaGamer1826d ago (Edited 1826d ago )

Why? Seriously, why would you look forward to something like that? You must be a pretty depressing person to want to see something happen that would make millions of people unhappy.

OG_TK_Cole1826d ago (Edited 1826d ago )

Some of you young guys talk way before you think. Why would you want competition to die off?? Does that honestly make since to you???

fsfsxii1825d ago

It makes "since" to me when the consumer and developer benefit in harmony. Steam isn't working towards that.

Rachel_Alucard1826d ago

They're taking advantage of the fact nobody likes epic, since people have no problem buying directly off uplay. They know barely anyone will buy off EGS so they let people buy off uplay and get all of the profits.

nucky641825d ago

if nobody likes epic, why did metro: exodus sell so well on their store?

Rachel_Alucard1825d ago

It didn't sell like redux did which was in the millions. It sold like 120K and they use weird numbers like "2.5x last light" instead of just saying the numbers outright. They figure if they remove your choice to buy off Steam you'll go directly through them instead which increases profits. If people had the choice to buy on Steam, people would always pick that option over everyone else.

“While we haven't even begun to tap into the full potential of the PS5“

We always here this statement yet we have plenty of games that struggle to run at solid frame rates or decent resolutions.

Skuletor8h ago

The developers should know the limits of these consoles, especially this far into the gen. I'd blame them and possibly the publishers, pushing to make games as visually appealing as possible at the cost of resolution and frame rate, which is nothing new in the industry.

Inb4 people mention it explicitly states it somewhere in the EULA, next up everybody pull out ya wands and make the unbreakable vow for eternal corporate servitude.

I really wish gamers would also step up against every other 3rd party app/sign in required game out there. Sigining in to psn is no different than gta, ubi and ea games.
