Doge1841d ago

Guess they gotta try getting more people to play Anthem somehow lol.

UltraNova1840d ago (Edited 1840d ago )

They wont succeed, Anthem has the plaque as far as gamers are concerned.

As for EA Access - I have two subscriptions (PS Plus and Netflix), one too many afaic and EA's library of piss pour, half-assed GaaS games aint cutting it for me and good games(weirdly) like Titanfall 2 and BFV(yeah yeah I know but still) can be bought for less then 20 bucks both.

bouzebbal1840d ago (Edited 1840d ago )

Gamers nowadays hype everything..
Watch Dogs, NMS, Anthem...

I'm not interested in this service or anything ea

Steveoreno11841d ago

Anthem = mine and many others last EA game. That 2017 e3 trailer still chaps my a$$. "Everything your about to see is was captured in-game running in real-time."

Sharingan_no_Kakashi1840d ago

Yup. I hadn't bought an EA game in over 10 years before Anthem. Gave Anthem a try and I was disappointed. Not doing that again.

Tazzy1841d ago

Is that why the service is on Xbox??

Muzikguy1841d ago

I haven't enjoyed EA games this generation so no subscription from me. I don't care if it's "only" $30.

Knushwood Butt1841d ago

Yeah, EA games go for peanuts during sales on PSN, so even if you wanted to play them, it's more cost effective to snag them during a sale. Titanfall 2, Battlefront games cost less to buy than a couple of beers (although the beers may be the better option).

rainslacker1841d ago

It's not a bad deal really. I wasn't into the idea when it first came out, because it's EA. Otherwise, they made it into a decent service. I still don't care for EA, but at least they have something good in the service.

Muzikguy1840d ago

Definitely buy some beers then maybe the games would be more enjoyable lol.

I’d say good news to try out some new EA titles before you buy and even play some classics like Titanfall 2.

Although EA games lately have been pretty bad, I’d say this is still a better value than just buying their games, especially sports fans tbh

I do hope that with it being a July release (rather than sooner) if EA/Sony are working on a way to play the older titles. Be it through some new means of emulation or PS NOW. Otherwise that’s even less for your bucks

Rude-ro1841d ago

If they are not producing anything of quality, paying them monthly to access their mediocre offerings is by far the worst idea of a sales pitch.

chiefJohn1171841d ago (Edited 1841d ago )

Not exactly, pay $5 to try that game that got your attention such as anthem 2 weeks early. Don't like like? Saved $55 and have a vault of games for a month.

JesusBuiltmyHotrod1841d ago

Or save it all and buy better games./

Rude-ro1841d ago

@chiefJohn117
That is called a demo.
I will not pay for demos, then pay for dlc and microtransactions.

If I pay for something and try it... my return will be my deciding factor on their next release.

Anthem and battlefield were the only two ea games I have purchased this gen.

I took a chance with anthem.. got my value out of it per my play time.. but we all know how that turned out.

I just will not support ea anymore.

Shikoku1841d ago (Edited 1841d ago )

Exactly rude-do companies use to give out demos but then marketing figured out demos lead to weak sales if the game sucked so now they don't put them out now you have to terrible idea stolen from PC "paid early access" screw that noise.

Muzikguy1841d ago

@Rude

I agree too in that paying to access mediocre or bad games isn't how I'd spend my money. Sure it's cheap, but that doesn't make it ok. Knowing that it's cheap they'll be less likely to put out good games since they're not making as much money back on them. I feel like Anthem is just the beginning of this.

Rimeskeem1841d ago

i got a month to play Unravel 1&2 and then played Titanfall 2 story and Bulletstorm.

For $5 that was a steal but that is pretty much how i use subscriptions like that.

optimus1840d ago

@Rimeskeem...that's the smart way of doing it. even if you were to pay the $30 for the year you are still saving a lot of money by going through just 4 games. people just love to get on the "let's hate ea bandwagon" that they would rather just hate everything with their label on it without playing any of it.....

if i didn't sign up for a month then i probably would have never played the latest madden which i didn't think i would find entertaining but i did....not enough to go out and buy it right away but now i may consider it when i see it on sale...same goes for all the other games in their vault that i never played.

antarius1840d ago

Anthem isn’t on EA Access, yet. It’s only 30 dollars a year. Great deal if your into their sports games.

CptDville1840d ago

Actually it is. You can try it through EA Access. That's how I tested the game (and ended up buying Division 2).

WhiteyFox1841d ago

Sony was like "it's not good value for our users". That's why it never came out on PS4 when it was released on Xbox One. Now it's good value?

Zeke681841d ago

Now it has no value.. /jk

Nitrowolf21841d ago

It’s has more games now, but PS4 lacks backward comp so unless all those games are being moved to PS NOW, it’s even less value isn’t it?

OC_MurphysLaw1841d ago

You raise an interesting point... I would assume it will only offer PS4 games.

SamPao1841d ago

you think a service stays the same for years? of course its gonna change over time, maybe in their eyes it now makes sense

AspiringProGenji1841d ago

It's not like Sony has begged or asked EA for it

Imortus_san1841d ago

It's called hypocrisy, or the fact that PS Now Flopped.

1841d ago
1841d ago
Imortus_san1840d ago

@SolidGamerX
Yes it flopped, millions or billions of investement, 5 year on, market leader as 90+ millon PS4 consoles sold, plus the PC market since PS Now works on PC, and only 700.000 users, yes it FLOPPED.

Realms1841d ago

PS gamers really don't care for EA access it was never a good deal, they are one of if not the worst publishers so their games follow a certain model. Half baked games filled with MT no thank you, I think many smart gamers know to stay away from their games.

TopherMan1841d ago

"Now it's good value?"

Apparently they changed their mind.

JackBNimble1840d ago

Who changed their minds ... Sony, why , because they are letting you choose for yourself?

TopherMan1840d ago

So they can make more money.

Araragifeels 1841d ago

The reason that PlayStation allow it now because it has no value anymore and it won't hurt PSNow.

Obscure_Observer1841d ago

@WhiteyFox

"Sony was like "it's not good value for our users". That's why it never came out on PS4 when it was released on Xbox One. Now it's good value?"

In Sony defence, yes, it´s good value now. Most people didn´t realized yet, but Sony is and will be under new management for the foreseeable future, so, changes in their policies (like the new censorship) are to be expected.

BLow1841d ago

That is pretty funny lol. Well, this is another point you can check off of the fanboys list war lol. Funny how it was a big deal at first and now I hardly see anyone talk about EA Access. Strange how that works though....

Seriously though, I think they all have a plan with these subscription services and they will slowly going to add more and more. Fanboys sit up here and fight but these companies work together more than we know. It's all about the $$$$......

Blastoise1841d ago

You gotta make some games worth playing first EA, then maybe I'll check it out

Platformgamer1841d ago

the number of games that respect that criteria is near zero

opc1841d ago

Origin Access on PC is a steal a $30 for a year. It has a few of the recent battlefield games, mad max, dragon age inquisition, rime, hyperlight drifter, titanfall 2 and a bunch of indies that are worth checking out

There were plenty of games I was interested in buying on steam and got to play only to realize that they stunk.

Shikoku1841d ago

Giving any money to EA is never "a steal" it's a detriment to the gaming industry though so go ahead if you want.

opc1841d ago

When you tell other people to boycott their incredible, affordably priced subscription plan that is loaded with single-player indie games that offer no micro-transactions, you're telling people to vote against story-based single player games with their wallets.

Don't cry when they continue to buy Single player studios and push them to churn out incomplete MT-laden multiplayer filth.

One of the giants in the industry has finally stumbled upon doing something right, don't be a crybaby bitch about it.
