Another price increase with no additional benefits?

porkChop1824d ago

At least they aren't taking away any of the existing benefits.

TheHateTheyGive1824d ago

Amen, as a super ps4 supporter i thought it was scummy that they did not replace the 4 games they gave us on ps3/vita with at least an extra ps4 game.

Microsoft Rewards = free XB Live Gold

DarXyde1823d ago

TheHateTheyGive,

While I don't necessarily disagree, doing so would set a precedent before PS5. So if PS4 games went up to 4 per month now, I think people would be pretty upset if PS5 comes out and the PS4 number gets adjusted AGAIN. On top of that, 4 PS4 games might really kill sales.

Keep in mind that's 48 games in a year

Rude-ro1823d ago

Like feee to play games that should actually be free to play? 😂

indysurfn1822d ago

WAIT in Europe they pay 44.74$ each month for 2 - 4 xbox live games a month? Most of the time I dont like any of the free games. So I would be skipping that and just buying one I want.

Only for UK users I think.

CYALTR1823d ago

You are correct. This was announced a few weeks ago and is just now taking effect. It is in response to the tanking British Pound due to Brexit. Microsoft is a US company, so they have to make currency adjustments as the value of currencies change.

This one is not really Microsofts fault. If you gotta point a finger, point it all of the Brexiters.

SheenuTheLegend1824d ago

its sad to see the dislikes on your comment. it reflects the current state of gaming sadly where people are ok for paying for a service that was meant to be free.
first it was just companies ripping consumers but now customers also support these practices sadly.

NonPartisanGamer1823d ago

XBL was never a free service.

NonPartisanGamer1823d ago

It’s called inflation and I believe only the second increase in 18 years.

price increases with no additional benefits are never good but i can't complain too much when i just paid £60 for 3 years of game pass.

skiggy341823d ago

Damn where did you score that deal???

mark_parch1822d ago (Edited 1822d ago )

cd keys, 3 months for £10. stack up to 3 years and I game share so I went halfs with a friend.

xX-oldboy-Xx1824d ago

If you want to play APEX, Fortnite, Warframe and World Of Tanks with your friends - a slight increase won't matter.

Pricey1824d ago

I already can and I don't need Xbox live Gold. So...

xX-oldboy-Xx1824d ago

I was unaware ms had removed the paywall for F2P games, is that for Netflix too?

gravedigger1824d ago (Edited 1824d ago )

Apex

Online multiplayer on Xbox requires Xbox Live Gold (subscription sold separately.

https://www.microsoft.com/e...

Fortnite

Game requires Xbox Live Gold (sold separately)

https://www.xbox.com/en-US/...

And so on for other so called "F2P" titles. No GOLD, no play on Xbone

gravedigger1823d ago (Edited 1823d ago )

Btw. F2P games who only have singleplayer campaign don't need GOLD sub. So, there it is. For MP campaign you need GOLD sub. WHICH is not a F2P anymore on Xbone

Regarding F2P games - Nope. Read other of my posts

xX-oldboy-Xx1823d ago

ok mate - I'll come clean, I was taking the piss. ms continued f2p paywall is a disgrace to gaming.

"Yeah, yeah bad Microsoft. /s Hey how are those cloud saves working for you on the PS without Plus?"

Well, you don't need a PS+ for USB flash drive. Problem solved.

aconnellan1823d ago

Sure you are.

Did you read the article or other comments? Or just the title?

It’s going up by 10 pound for a 12 month sub in the UK only, now matching the price of PS+, likely due to the effects of Brexit on the value of the pound.

Xbox 360 Turns 18: Three Cheers to Live, Halo, and Red Rings

The Xbox 360 launched in North America 18 years ago, and is now officially old enough to buy you a drink in Europe.

darthv72162d ago

Great platform, and many of its games (not bc) still hold up well to this day. Like the PS3, I keep a 360 hooked up for those games you can't play any other way.

isarai162d ago

The last gasp of greatness from XBox, you are missed, except the RROD that was lame, but amazing exclusives until the Kinect dropped.

TheBrainZ162d ago

So many brilliant games. I still have one stored somewhere.

LG_Fox_Brazil162d ago

I really enjoyed my X360, some great exclusives on it. Used to play the shit out ot Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two masterpieces

I remember when Live turned five and they had special edition controllers made and everything. Kind of wished they would do that again for the 20th.

Orchard533d ago

Happy Birthday. OG XBL (and later 360 XBL) really revolutionized online gaming on console.

Crows90533d ago

Never understood the obsession with live...but I was gaming online on PC so not sure too much of what live did that the PlayStation didn't.

Profchaos533d ago

I had a PS2 and it's online experience was fine but it didn't have the same level of polish voice chat never worked for me but I was trying to play from Australia where not many people played PS2 online to the point where many devs simply dropped the online mode from the pal version.
That's not all PS2 games mind you there were plenty that worked perfectly but it was more on the dev and not the platform

During that era I also played a fairly large amount on online PC games and they were undoubtedly better than both systems. PS2 from functionality and Xbox because it was free

Playing my friends original Xbox it was a really polished experience it felt robust yet simple things just worked there was zero config.

Crows90533d ago (Edited 533d ago )

Yeah but the time ps3 came the experience was the same on both based on what I played...not too much online though to be honest. But I do think that the xbox did help bring online into the console space a lot. As well as PC games to consoles.

Profchaos533d ago (Edited 533d ago )

Today would of been the perfect day to drop halo 2 the original bc version free on gwg.... If only
