Stadia could be the most powerful computer ever built and it wouldn't matter if latency kills the experience.

rpvenom1851d ago

exactly. Until the day where the button input latency is a direct match to a console version.. i will never consider cloud gaming...

Goldby1851d ago

@343
PS now can download games. it isn't just streaming anymore

rpvenom1851d ago (Edited 1851d ago )

@343_Guilty_Spark

Whose comments are you reading? Not one of my comments hype up PS NOW.

I'm a sony fan boy and I'll admit that but never have I said anything about PSNOW

Edito1851d ago

Even if it matches the console input I will never consider because I want to own my games...

BizarroUltraman1851d ago

@343 you can download games so that point is moot.

AnthonyDavis1850d ago

My PC right now is much more powerful than a Stadia box

BrettAwesome1850d ago

@AnthonyDavies
Specs, please

AnubisG1850d ago

I won't even than because I like to own my games.

AnthonyDavis1850d ago (Edited 1850d ago )

4790k and 2080ti^

I know my cpu is a bit lacking but games today are more gpu bound.

I agree. Latency and occasional drops/pauses ruins the experience for me. Local hardware is superior to me. The only use I would have for streaming is to be able to play my game collection on a portable device while away from home. But it will probably be some time from now until that offers a decent experience. Local hardware at home will continue to be my preferred way to play.

They don't even need to be, if they make Stadias a super computer. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, have already established a base consumer. They will buy their console, for the brand, and the games. Microsoft, is going to be interesting next gen. Not to say Sony won't be, I just think, like Nintendo, they are doing their own thing. Going down a, less traditional path. I will have to wait and see.

Cobra9511850d ago

What would be the point of making Stadia a supercomputer, if the goal is streaming, where the box at your end acts more like a terminal than a full computer? It needs to detect your game inputs, replay an AV stream, and connect to the internet so the data can flow to and from the remote system running the game. That's all. A phone can do it.

Sophisticated_Chap1851d ago

Stadia will attract the odd casual. I just can't see it taking a piece of the Xbox/ PlayStation/ Nintendo pie.

sprinterboy1851d ago (Edited 1851d ago )

Agreed, I still think its a gen away from working correctly. Stadia launch and 1st 5 years approx will be casuals who think its just about good enough and Google will use that time to improve the services ready for when it does work correctly.
The nxt 5 years for stadia will be basically putting the chess pieces in place with new in-house devs/studios and a AAA library of games imo.
Sadly the day will come in the nxt 10 years or so and we will see the death of the console.
My psn friend said our ps5 launch party and opening and holding the console for the 1st time could potentially be our last? Seriously I've been gaming for 37yrs and that really upsets me that it might be the last :( will be a sad day indeed so when you open up your ps5 or xbox just remember to cherish that moment as it could be the last.

Yeah, and I still don't think the focus is aimed at taking on consoles right away anyway. These will all be PC games technically, right? I really think PC gaming and mobile gamers are the primary focus to start.

I'm more intrigued by a chance that Google takes on Steam with a storefront that offers streaming per subscription, streaming per purchase, and a full purchase/download version.

That approach would be far more likely to make a dent in the business than offering something that is really only going to attract the occasional casual or curious gamer who just wants to try it out.

We'll see what they decide to do I guess.

Razzer1850d ago

Stadia is all about convenience, first and foremost. The quality of the gaming is secondary. This may be fine for some casuals, as you say, but not for hardcore gaming enthusiasts.

Helldivers 2 weapon rebalancing to get massive buff with studio’s new Chief Creative Officer

Pilestedt writes: "Very good question. First thing we got to do is ensure we get more devs time playing the game. It's hard to make the right decisions if the eyes aren't on the road.

Secondly, I want to ensure we actively look at the sentiment and create a holistic view of WHY feedback is given. And my working theory is that TTK is too high."

I’m more interested in what else he said.

“Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title could ‘redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’

It will be something like "we erased gameplay all together it's just a movie now"

purple10116h ago

every time naughty dog make a game, you play it and get the feeling "this is not possible'

from the boulder running towards you in crash, on ps1,
to the massive open world of jak and daxter, on ps2,
to the QuickTime events sequences of uncharted on ps3/4

and now we will see what they do with ps5,

Press X for doubt at "PS5"

Arrogant asshole who sniffs his own farts bigs up next game…sounds like typical PR to me

You know what I find interesting? Almost every site reporting this as the main title where the REAL interesting bit of the interview is Neil praising AI and saying it will be used to help push story, characters, dialogue and more.

It’s super shitty to big up AI especially when it comes to story telling and other creative elements.

senorfartcushion12h ago

Just because someone says this type of stuff, it doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to be good news.

You can say this about microtransactions. MXTs revolutionised the gaming industry.

Geez how full of themselves are these guys.

Einhander197213h ago

He also said it has "ethical issues we need to address" but of course that doesn't get the clicks.

CrimsonWing6913h ago

I’m all for it. Cuts the time to make a game. Look, Hellblade 2 took 5 years to make, if AI can do that in half the time, as a consumer, I support it.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Wants To Work On His Debut Franchise After Elden Ring DLC

Hidetaka Miyazaki appeared in an interview to discuss the future of the Elden Ring DLC and FromSoftware's future plans.

Cacabunga20h ago

I hope Bluepoint are working on BB remake..
Sony now seem to have lost it with all the gaas, i have no hope in seeing them approaching FS to make a sequel. I hope gamers will push Sony and show continuous disapproval to the gaas model

Cacabunga20h ago

U probably right about the remake it is maybe too early. A performance mode would be more welcome at this point

fsfsxii17h ago

can we get new ideas instead of remakes? gamers are the most nostalgia driven on this earth istg

Redgrave12h ago

The problem with new ideas is that they are often riddled with modern gaming problems like battle/season passes, MTX, DEI and/or agenda pushing narratives rather than making something fun.

We look to nostalgia because the magic was still alive and well, where as now it's often limited to indies.

Chard17h ago

Look at how Bluepoint changed the art for demons souls. I wouldn’t want them doing that for Bloodborne

anast13h ago

Compare their releases. How many are GaaS and how many are not. Put the number here for people to see.

gold_drake12h ago

what gaas are we talking? did i miss something?

I don’t know how to feel, Armored Core just isn’t as good as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and the like.

I hope he does a new IP instead

FinalFantasyFanatic10h ago

I love the Armored Core series, I hope it becomes a regular thing again, like it was back in the PS2 days, we've been starved of AC games for a long time. Although I prefer the gameplay in the PS2 games personally. AC6 was really fun though.

Sonic18819h ago(Edited 9h ago)

The last game was a difficult challenge. I had trouble beating that last boss

shinoff21836h ago

I'm hoping for a Sci fi game. I guess armored core would be Sci fi but I'm not talking about that. I'd like a new Sci fi game

Nacho_Z17h ago

Fortunately, if you're not interested in the AC series, he doesn't say he plans to drop everything to work exclusively on the next one, as implied by the article header. Just general comments about it being an important series he wants to be involved with at some point.

gold_drake12h ago

oofff kings field. i played that not too long ago ha.

shinoff21836h ago

One ofbthe first ps games I beat back in the day. Was fun.

anast13h ago

Good news. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.
