I'm happy to see 360 owners finally got a AAA game too this year. Now I just need one or two more reasons to buy a 360, but I don't see many more coming right now (which exclusive is planned except Alan Wake ?)

I bet your "happy". But when the 360 easily has the most "AAA" goodness of any of the new consoles, I am feeling really bad for the other consoles customers. Knowing that they don't have near as many good games to play, well just sucks. Hopefully they will someday catch the 360 with the amount of "AAA" games on their system. Check!!!, now added GeOW 2 to the growing "AAA" list!!!

And having GeOW 2 now, as many reviewers are saying is the best action game ever, just has to sting some fanboys now. But hey.... at least they have that super fast action, full of thrills and spills, non stop action LBP to play!!! You go Sackboy!!!

Sorry we cant tell you which exclusives are planned for 2009 since MSFT generally prefer showing their games when they are ready and not 4 years before they come out.

So just hold on till 2009 and I bet we'll know more on whats coming out in 2009.

yea well go figure. i bought a ps3 last november and after a year of no games and delays/crappy online ive finaly made my decision and will sell this piece of shiit once and for all.

i dont know why it took me this long to finaly see the truth. this gen all i need is a 360. ps3 just sucks and will never be as good as the ps2 and ps1 were. Don`t have a 360 myself, but if it did, i would get Gears 2 and Fable 2. Instead it`s R2, LBP, and perhaps Bioshock and ME for me, but i think both platforms has it`s games this holliday, so happy gaming for all. Wouldn`t surprise me if some comes with a R2 scored less elsewhere or Gears 1,5 below, but still ;)

as much as i think that ign is probably the best place for mostly fair reviews imo on the internet,

it annoys me that gears has anywhere near the same score, r2 has so much content and improvement which earned a score of 9.5

gears barely updates the graphics by giving lighting to individual characters and items that's it. They add 2 extra people to play online and a horde mode for spawning enemies in a small map and they give it the same score as resistance 2

resistance 2 added 20 (no lag) more people an expanded co-op huge maps that when you choose a small map its as big as the biggest map in gears, all running smooth no texture pop all in such a huge scale

from a reviewer standpoint its obvious which ones better,

i like gears of war alot because of the awesome and fun cover system online but this is ridiculous

they are two Different types of games... Just because you throw a boat load crap into a game doesn't make it better... I was in the Beta I've seen it , but i've also heard it was a early beta.. Will see today I Pick up R2... I think PS3 only players have to jump behind this game because it's the only thing they can look forward to this year.. notice how all there focus is on R2, What happen to that Flop LBP??? My Son still Plays it but it got old fast...

They are DIFFERENT games. 9.5 for each just says that they are close to a perfect 10. Both have minor flaws in them, but both play really well depending on what you're going for.

If you looking for that more massive epic battle type battle, and strictly FPS in your multiplayer, you will like R2. If you're looking for more intimately-sized battles, a 3rdPersonShooter, and crazy battle tactics (sticky bombs, chainsaws, death animations), than you'll like both. Saying one is better than the other is way too subjective because it can fit more onto a screen doesn't make sense.

it does a little but as i said i'll be happy playing them anyway, i am just stumped by the ammount improved and upgraded and brought to the table by one game and so little by the other and yet they both recieve the same score

its like telling a developer(epic) they can continue to barely upgrade thier games (ut&gears) and get the same score as someone (insomniac) who went above and beyond. It doesn't really motivate either developer to try that hard the next time around.

Gears gets bigger maps and bigger SP areas as well
Gears has a HUGE war going in front of you with hundreds of guys running around
Gears Graphics not only curbstomp Resistance 2 graphics, they laugh in their face when they're finished.

Gears brought back bosses we never got to face, more driving scenes, WAY bigger bosses, flying scenes, a longer campaign, Horde Mode, Meat shields, movable shields, new grenade types, new weapon types, destructible cover, a plethora of new bad guys etc etc etc that would constitute as being a good developer right?

The only thing I keep hearing that I don't like is "Scope" and not "Scale". Call me a fanboy all you want I don't care but to me scope means it looks bigger. Scale means it is bigger. I remember in god of War 2 when you walked along a huge chain to some horse statues and that was Scale. It didn't look that far it was that far. Scope to me denotes "things in the background that are there for aestetic purpose rather then real purpose" If this is true thats a little disappointing. If not then good.

I want to know from people once they actually play it if this is true or not. I mean just watching the video it feels that the background really has no effect apart from looks. You can't mow down the waves of guys on the ground as your reticle doesn't change from white to red. When they were driving the vehicle on the what looked like Ice the areas blew up and made a path for you to take as opposed to you making your own way...

All in all it's a huge fan service for sure but really how much "Bigger" is it. I mean they added 1 person per side in MP... What else. They didn't touch on the length of the game or anything... They actually seemed to stay away from it... Badder and more badass I fully agree with. Face stomps and all that look way better and human shields and destructible cover are cool. Even though he said it wasn't as good as he hoped...

I dunno but I can say it will sell by the bucket load and will be an upgrade but I still dont know how much of a sequel it is as opposed to an upgrade looking at other sequels that have released this gen and the insane upgrades that have happened there... Much more substantial

I'm not sure about your "scope" vs "scale" argument but I'm sure Gears 2 will be just as enjoyable and even more than the first one. Gears 2 actually has a lot of improvements over the first one. Horde mode, multiplayer bots, graphic improvements, more enemies on screen at once, more guns, more enemies, ect.

I guess we'll all find out soon enough exactly what Gears 2 holds.

I agree with everything except for the "More enemies on screen at once" Which goes back to scale vs scope. It looks like there are more but I have yet to see a video with more then 4 or 5 enemies on screen at any time. There are tricks and effects that make it look such but I have not seen it yet...

If you read the reviews they all say the game will take you roughly 2-3 hours longer now, so around 12 + hours, the backgrounds are for pretty purposes, but their is so much going on that is the last thing your worried about. The first gears could handle like 8 guys at once, this one can handle alot more, if you watch any of the videos. In horde they say their is something like 30

I can think of GeOW, GeOW 2, Mass Effect, and Halo 3... What else am I missing?

On the Sony side I see Uncharted, Resistance, Resistance 2, Ratchet & Clank, LBP, MGS4.

Not to mention the PSN has way more AAA DLC. Don't get me wrong, I'm buying GeOW 2, I'm just not an MS fanboy about it.

Let me tell you about a magical place called Opposite Land. In opposite land PS3 owners pay 50 dollars a year for online service and dont complain. They enjoy countless hours playing Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 while Xbox owners play Resistance 2 and Motorstorm to their hearts content. They argue and b!tch to each other about how their console is superior and their games pwn, and never stop to use the brains the creator gave them to deduce that enjoying a game is not about what console you play it on, its ABOUT THE FRIGGIN GAME.

For those of you who find purpose in trash talking other games on other consoles, take a moment, stop, reflect, and GROW UP.
