What exclusive games should the next-gen PS5 launch with?

Week by week we're getting closer to the release of the ninth generation of consoles so it got me thinking, what sort of launch line up can we expect from Xbox and PlayStation.
Let's start with the PlayStation 5.

IRetrouk1869d ago

I think we will see more cross gens games, the likes of ghost, death stranding, last of us 2 with enhancements, maybe one or two built just for ps5 but i have a feeling sony is going to turn the pro into an entry level system, so we may not see true ps5 exclusives for a while, who really knows though.

onisama1869d ago

No business wise they wont let that happen... First that people wont buy ps5 and treat it as premuim product
And also lot of ps players are casuals and buying a ps4 pro to play ps5 games will make confusion and affect the brand

nirwanda1869d ago

Most launches have nearly half cross gen releases but usually 3rd party, and even the most tech naive parents seem to know the difference between say a PS4 and a ps3 , that's why they change the game box design and shape of the console.

nucky641869d ago

i'm with you. why buy a ps5 to play games that you could play on ps4 - makes no sense.

onisama1869d ago

Well... I m talking about lunches not to montion exclusives aren't cross lunches except for nintendo...

And i didnt say what i like but what business is... For them ps4 pro is an upgraded ps4 where you can play ps4 games in better resolution nothing more you wont be playing ps5 games there...yes its totally possible hardware wise but business wise No chance

nucky641869d ago

iretrouk, if true, why launch a ps5 at all in this timeframe? i'm not buying a ps5 to play games that run on a ps4 pro - i want exclusives that will only run on newer, better hardware.

Sirk7x1868d ago

Well, most people don't buy hardware at launch. Look at the PS4's launch, the games were mostly ports. And Knack.

IRetrouk1868d ago

I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, just what I feel Sony may do to extend the ps4s life, ps4 and ps5 will be similar enough that the devs should be able to program for both consoles at once, just because the same games are running on ps4 pro does not mean that somehow the ps5 version would need to be lacking anything. If cross gen games stop you from buying consoles then fair enough, I dont mind them.

wwinterj1868d ago

The PS4 pro will not play PS5 games. However cross gen games are a given. The first year of the PS5's life is when we will see more games be cross gen. I certainly believe however the PS5 will get a few exclusives during that time. Just like the PS4 did with Second Son and Killzone. They need to give a reason to buy a system.

IRetrouk1868d ago (Edited 1868d ago )

Like I said there will defo be a few exclusives, but it will be more cross gen stuff at the start, Sony could very well make ps4 pro versions of their ps5 games though, if they want to continue to have the pro positioned on the market, and support it, I dont think these new consoles are going to be all that different, just more powerful, effects etc can be turned down, look at gt sport, it has support for up to 8k mode, yet no console can do that yet, it's all about scaling the engine to what the software is running on, which we already see between ps4 and the pro and the one and x, every game on PC is scalable, I dont see what the issue would be to be honest.

I would also like to see HZD2 at launch, but I doubt it considering how much polish GG will put into it, and I appreciate Developers more when they don't rush out another entree to a successful IP...

NarutoFox1869d ago (Edited 1869d ago )

God of War 2 and Spiderman 2

nucky641869d ago

if i had a choice (along with HZD2) it'd be one/some of these:
GoW5
bloodborne2
demon souls 2
syphon filter
jak and daxter

NarutoFox1868d ago

Syphon filter is long overdue

ArchangelMike1869d ago

I think they should do a Killzone Redux for PS5 -where they combine all 3 games (and Mercenary) into one single game. That would be a Day 1 buy from me.

Mr Marvel1869d ago (Edited 1869d ago )

I feel like that would be a HUGE step backwards for Guerilla though.
Going from a masterpiece open world like Horizon, back to an average FPS series.
It would be like ND going from Uncharted back to Jak & Daxter.

If a different studio handled it, then that would be fine though.

UltraNova1869d ago

Nope.

1) Who said anything about GG? Any other porting company can do it, Bluepoint for example.

2) Killzone 2 is one of the most wished for remasters. That is not called average.

3) How dare you talk about J&D like that???

Silly gameAr1869d ago

So much wrong with your comment, but that's what opinions are for I guess. To disagree with.

naji20041869d ago

add a VR Mode too please.

Dragonscale1869d ago

Guerrilla are probably too busy with Horizon 2 tbh.

Platformgamer1869d ago

i just want folklore to be remaked and maybe it could be a ps5 launch title

gtxgamer21869d ago

Holy crap I forgot about folklore. Thanks for reminding me!

The Wood1869d ago (Edited 1869d ago )

I'd more want a sequel

Notice the miserable tw#t disagreeing with everyone. . . .. . . Get a life bro.

I think Sony may rely on both cross gen and bc games at the start of next gen as well as a couple surprises. Can't see a new triple a until year 2 maybe. . I would love to be wrong though. . .if they started off with a killzone or horizon I'd be way chuffed

ArchangelMike1869d ago

OMG!!! FOLKLORE!!!

The single most under appreciated game ever. What a gem it was. Few of those early PS3 games (e.g. Heavenly Sword) Never got the limelight that they deserved simply because of the limited launch install base.

thejigisup1869d ago

Heavenly sword needs a remake or sequel though it'll prob never happen

Donnie811868d ago

Yes!!!!!! A much forgotten gem

robtion1868d ago

A new Folklore would be great. Loved the quirky Japanese take on Celtic folklore.

I think a new Lair would be great now that the technology exists to cope with the ambition.

A new Tenchu would also be amazing.

I really miss stealth/agent games like splinter cell. I hope Sony have a New IP in that genre. Other than that horizon zero dawn 2 would be nice! Or a killzone game like KZ2.

outsider16241869d ago

Agreed. And killzone with 64 player multiplayer like bf. I'd really like to drive some of those vehicles.

Wow.... two of my earliest gaming platforms. All they need is Coleco to round things out.

This is like Nintendo buying SEGA.

OtterX5h ago

YES! Colecovision was my start! I came to know Mario there in Donkey Kong before the NES was even a thing. :)

Golfcoachh2h ago

Yes such fond memories. My first was the odyssey, but I really started gaming on my colecovision. Had atari and intelivision but coleco was by far the best of the bunch to me.

Kratos_Kart20072h ago

Yes...a gamer from my era...LMAO

Coleco was good...LOL

Good piece of history here.

This was just before my time. I do remember my mom's friend having one all dusty in her apartment back in the day.

People forget that console wars are part of the history of this industry. The console wars were started by competitive companies all the way back then and continued through Sega vs Nintendo, Jaguar/3DO/NeonGeo, and PlayStation vs Nintendo and Xbox.

These companies are across oceans and competing for the same business. These companies created the console wars, not crazy fanboys.

anast4h ago

Console wars are fun. It's fun to be a fanboy too. I don't get what's wrong with any of this as entertainment.

darthv724h ago

Young kid school yard banter was fun. 30-40+ year olds still doing it is just disturbing. Many my age (50+) grew out of that a long time ago. We may still have our preferences, but we also embrace a more central position because there is a lot to enjoy on a wide range of genres and systems.

You'll understand one day and then things will forever change.

Petebloodyonion1h ago

The only thing back then was that the game would still appear on competing platforms.
Remember the Coleco Vision could play Atari2600 games via an Expansion modude.

jznrpg6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I had both. Snafu on Intellivision was addicting as hell. Also had Colecovision which had Time Pilot. Combat was probably my favorite Atari game and both Atari and Intellivision had similar games like Pitfall and Jungle Hunt. It’s been so long I don’t really remember which game I liked bettter out of those but I did play my Intellivision a bit more than Atari though I’m not sure why besides Snafu. That was 40+ years ago damn I’m old lol

Dagexon4h ago

Ahh you're making me all nostalgic! Not old enough to have played these on original hardware but my first console was a bootleg console from Costco that had a bunch of intellivision and atari games. Then had a lot of fun with intellivision and atari collections on ps1 and 2.
Snafu was one of my favourite games and me and my partner still occasionally play it to this day
