Why can't we have both? Variety is the spice of life after all. Diddy Kong Racing was able to co exist with Mario Kart, Crash can as well. I for one am looking forward to it.

Mario kart 64 was made in the late 90s and that was better in every way than CTR. Mario Kart 8 deluxe is litteraly about 17 times as good, due to the natural progression of gameplay over the last 20 years.

Mario Kart 8d is absolutely flawless for a kart racer. CTR looks crap , that's the difference.

Ctr is better honestly to me. Actually best kart racer to date. Mk8 is good, but it's items balance us horrible. Ctr has a pretty perfect balance in comparison

Dont mind Eddie. I've never once seen him say that a competing game is somehow worse. Nintendo games are without fault, and something like climbing makes a barren open world game with a story that's not even as deep as the original zelda game from back in the day, is better than one with a rich lore and tons of new stuff to do.

MK is a fun game. CTR is a fun game. They both have their pros and cons, but I like then attitude feel of CTR more, and the racing itself seems a little more tuned to be less hands holding. But the sonic racing transformed is better than both of them IMO. Love that game.

Mario Kart has stayed the same and it took them until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to add a proper Battle Mode...sorry I mean have time to finish it off.

Mario Kart in 20 years compared to CTR has not...

Considering this game is released much later and is a nostalgic throwback first and foremost, and will be available on multiple platforms, I'd say yeah, but does it really need to? It may not reach MK8 sales figures, but it can and probably will do fairly well in its own right. Besides, does every game that happens to be of the same genre as another game have to automatically be considered a competitor? Maybe fans of kart racers who enjoyed MK8 will enjoy this as well, and people who don't own a Switch or a Wii U and happen to like kart racers now have an option to enjoy. Plus, fans of the original PS1 game are sure to check it out.
