Looks fantastic...FINALLY

Still miffed they could have added the original vault hunters after the map was revealed to Brick, Mordecai and Lilith at the end of the second game.

I really hope they explain the whole Siren thing, only 6 activated at a time in the entire Universe yet all of them just happened to end up on Pandora. Lilith, Steele, Maya, Asha, Angel and now the new one. Would have preferred to play Lilith again since I loved Phase Walk.

I am happy Gearbox is taking this franchise serious though with all the support it's getting.

LordoftheCritics1879d ago (Edited 1879d ago )

This looks like a dlc.

Wheres the newness?

I've seen powerpoint presentations that are more interesting that this trailer.

anonymousfan1879d ago

It does look very similar but borderlands doesn't need to change to be great

AnthonyDavis1879d ago (Edited 1879d ago )

Another boring party shooter. Destiny, Anthem etc. The only one that’s good is L4D.

I was holding Take Two stock earlier today and traded it, dammit.

abstractel1879d ago

I won't go as far as LordoftheCritics, but it wasn't the leap from last gen to current gen I was hoping for. Still looks great.

I'm sure they've changed things up as far as gameplay goes. I do not at all believe it will be a long DLC in the form of a full sequel.

dumahim1879d ago

It's always going to have that look to it, but if you don't see the improvement in lighting effects, then you may need some help.

Fritzwochel1879d ago

This.
Best thing about the trailer was the saxophone solo.

poppatron1878d ago

I thought the exact same. Fingers crossed they’ll be previewing all the new mechanics and elements further down the line. It did just look like borderlands 2 with new locations

DivoJones1878d ago

A little hyperbolic, but the downside of their visual aesthetic/cell shaded visuals is that it'll always look the same'ish... so I'm just hoping they actually did a graphics engine upgrade despite the similar appearance.

Original and others can be added as DLC. I completely understand not adding them at release where you want people to focus on the new vault hunters. But, I do hope they do the 'clone' thing and allow people to play as other vault hunters in a funny way via free DLC post release.

-Foxtrot1879d ago (Edited 1879d ago )

But why new hunters when you've established so many characters in the other games? Like they could have had the original vault hunters and added Tina to replace Roland with the Borderlands 2 characters acting as NPC characters. I mean we've had 3 games now to add the old hunters and they've never done it.

Just seems they could use what they have really, I mean the excuse of the character switch in the sequel was "we want to give the original vault hunters development" even though you can easily have them as main characters and give them development like most other games do.

Each vault hunter in the first game had their own stories of why they came to Pandora, Lilith was to find if the rumours of another Siren were true, which was basically Steele and Brick was to find his missing sister etc. Just felt lazy on their part at the time but I thought the sequel would take care of that, but they decided to just swap characters.

Christopher1879d ago

Because if you make those characters people love into Vault Hunters, they won't have lines in the game or be central to the story for every character... Additionally, people have already played those Vault Hunters, so why play the same people when you can have new? What? Change their powers? That's even weirder.

I completely disagree with taking them out of the story as integral NPCs, which is why I suggested doing the 'clone' bit, which they could react to in their own way. And, Tiny Tina and others could be clone options as well, but I 100% disagree with them being Vault Hunters as those are silent protagonists who shoot and kill, not add to the storyline via dialogue and cut scenes.

I respect your desire, but I completely disagree with it.

-Foxtrot1879d ago

Really? You could easily change up their powers or abilities since Borderlands 2 already did that

The skill tree could have split between old and new

Brick got a melee weapon, upgraded from just using his fists

Mordicai got a new Bloodwing which could have had a different move set, switch what you learn it

Lilith upgraded her phase walk to teleportation or they could have evolved her powers into something else.

It wouldn't be weird at all...hell it wouldn't be weird in a game like this which features guns with legs.

You can easilly have main characters be developed with voices and also be playable, it's lazy and you feel like you are playing a plank of wood. It was forgivable in the first game but they should have done it in future games.

Christopher1879d ago

-Foxtrot, I'm not an idiot. I understand that. It would be a bad idea, IMHO. You don't need to try and change my opinion, it's not going to happen. Just like I'm not trying to change yours.

Elwenil1879d ago

I think the new characters is nice. A lot of games catch flak for not expanding their playable characters in sequels. Destiny is a good example. How many people were disappointed when we didn't get any new classes/characters in Destiny 2? Now it would be nice to have been able to play the original characters in Borderlands 2, but considering the story, I think it would have been a bit messed up. Yeah, it could still have been done but I think it might have been one of those deals where you end up with a less than stellar story or a story with plot holes due to the combination of an open world, multiple choices, flexible mission order, etc.

It does look good but I have to say Im starting to get a little burned out of looter shooters now that the market is full of them. Besides that Borderlands is the original concept of the " looter shooter" and I have no doubt it will be a blast. Though
admittedly Gearbox and Randy Pitchford dont have the greatest track record as of late. All they need to do is listen to the fans and not pull off a Bethesda or Bioware.

VerminSC1879d ago (Edited 1879d ago )

But honestly, borderlands is the only game to have ever done it right.

Fist4achin1879d ago

Looks cool. I miss Flank Steak and Madd Moxxi

Shame its epic exclusive

totalgaminglegend1878d ago

Like others said, it looks like DLC. Seriously this long and this is the best they can do? Boarderlands always felt like a lazy attempt, already using cell shaded to hide the fact of bad graphics, the very least would be to finally make this game bigger, badder and actually openworld instead of cut up pieces of a map.

Terrible 1 hour presentation. Hopefully great game. Just more the same? They didn’t tell us anything about the game, left wondering what differs from BL2 / what’s new..

PhoenixRising371879d ago

look in the description of the youtube video.

gamer91879d ago

Thanks, but come back April 3rd for details? This was the time to list at least a few details, they had a whole hour and wasted it going through a board game nobody cares about..

BoneMagnus1879d ago (Edited 1879d ago )

One little question:

WHEN CAN I BUY THIS?!?!?!

Abriael1879d ago

They didn't say, or the platforms. Next reveal is on April 3.

Iamnothuman121879d ago

Good I hope they don't destroy the fun with a microtransaction system.

badz1491879d ago

I won't put my hope up too high

borderline unplayable lmao

InUrFoxHole262d ago

Really like the series but each one seems more of the same to me. Needs a mix up. Tiny Tina was ok at 1st but overall meh.

gold_drake261d ago

you can only make a 1st person looter shooter so much different.

fans dont play it for the ganeplay but more for the story i would assume.

i know i did. and cause i liked the characters

InUrFoxHole261d ago

Idk but they're solid overall

FalcorMononoke262d ago

The first 3 games were great on the Switch so I'm sure this one will be good.

Profchaos262d ago

Hate to say it but this was a bad game I don't see the merit in porting it unlike the first 2
