I Learned to Love Andromeda by Not Expecting it to be Mass Effect

Kotaku writes: I learned to love it for what it is, not what I wanted it to be. When Mass Effect Andromeda first released nearly two years ago, I was pretty hard on it. The original Mass Effect trilogy is one of my favourite game series of all time, and a lot of what I loved about those games just didn't seem to be present in Bioware's ambitiously sprawling open world sequel.

i think this argument in the headline is wrong on every conceivanle level.

Fluttershy771900d ago

Yeah whatever... so you say... but in any case you conveniently call it Andromeda, and not what the game's name really is "Mass Effect: Andromeda"

AspiringProGenji1900d ago

Even without the ME name it was a rushed disappointment. Even the devs dropped support for it. Glad I skipped it and stuck with the trilogy

Gamehard1900d ago

It's a bit unfair to say you're disappointed with something that you didn't actually play, I would think. Andromeda doesn't live up to the original trilogy sure, but it was still a decent game. A bad Mass effect entry can be better than half of the rest of the crap that comes down the line these days.

Godmars2901900d ago

Only it came in WITH the crap that comes down the line these days. It was on the cusp of crap that's quickly becoming the standard of AAA gaming.

AspiringProGenji1900d ago

It is not unfair. The game was criticized by poor animation, bad story, and more. That’s too much ted flag to spend money to prove that mysef when reviewers and youtubers all agree on that. Sorry but I expected more from a ME game, not this crap.

Godmars2901900d ago

But...its called..."Mass Effect: Andromeda".

These are truly the New Dark Ages. An era of "Alternative Facts", willful stupidity, and not admitting to mistakes as they are continually made that may very well mark humanity's height and end.

We're generally F**ked is what I'm saying.

xX-oldboy-Xx1900d ago

Agree 100% - the ignorant and stupid are taking over, twisting narratives and facts.

DrumBeat1899d ago

Agreed. I don't know how things are going to pan out in future (long after we're gone) generations. I just sucks that I'm not going to be around for the PS25.

Smokehouse1900d ago

No, it was pretty awful by any standards. I’m no stranger to liking bad games either. I played through bound by flame a couple times lol. It was a good budget game, I expected bad voice acting and such. I didn’t expect andromeda to be so awful and even pretending that it’s something else can’t change my mind. It’s bad even on a budget level.

Epic Games Faces $1.2 Million Fine Over "Unfair Practices," Plans to Fight Back

Epic Games is facing a $1.2 million fine by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets over "unfair practices" in the Fortnite shop.

Sciurus_vulgaris10h ago

It might be cheaper to simply pay the fine. Fighting said fine could cost millions due to court and lawyer fees. Fortnite generates well over a 100 million in each month, so Epic has plenty of cash.

franwex3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

But if they did pay it, then they are basically admitting that they did something they weren’t supposed to be doing. If they fight it, they may win and continue to have a sense of urgency for their micro transactions thus making more money long term.

Too bad for the best fps there is atm...

The market for games like this is too over saturated to make a dent in other established games' player counts. Trying to start all over with a whole new multiplayer meta and grinding to get better is not feasible when there's already a ton of similar games that have come out before it.
