Personally, I wouldn't be embarrassed to play this in public. Nothing in it is porn. The vita version had that whole jiggle thing and I played that in public. I didn't sit there and drool over it, just skipped it and got to the next fight, because the sexy poses and stuff get old after the first time, and they're all slippage.

It's a fighting game, and there is really nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm 43, and play games in public, and don't care what people think

I played the beta and the game sucks. It's unbalanced, looks like a last-gen game, and brings nothing new to the table. I'm surprised it's not tanking in reviews. There are so many better fighting games to choose from.

But yeah, stick with the SJW explanation.

I would love to see this guy play the game. We need to revoke his use of kawaii... Honoka, is low hanging fruit for thirsty kawaii fans...wtf, you can't make accusations like that without backing it up. I would also like to point out that if you play games that conflict with your preferences you may not be able to objectively review them.

Yeah, I wish people that have a problem with certain kinds of content wouldn't review games. Kotaku and polygon did that a lot last gen with a lot of Japanese games, and we're at the forefront of bringing Japanese games down. Ironic considering kotaku started by being about the only site which covered those niche games.

Anyhow, it's one thing to point out it may contain content that some may not like, it's another to downrate a game because it does what it sets out to do. If those things actually ruin the game, fair enough. But if it's part of the game style or design, it has to be considered as such

You should keep your professional opinion separated from your personal opinion. Boobs don't affect how good or bad a game plays, and shouldn't be held against the game. Seems like the media is too busy trying to change the industry for what's "better" in their opinion, by being as negative as they can.

Dead or alive doesn't need to do anything that will that will "significantly impact the world of fighting games", except be a good DOA game, which sounds like it succeeds. Apart from a few bugs, the game sounds like it's a great addition to the series. Stop whining about the stuff that doesn't really matter, and focus on what makes a game a game. Seriously fed up with the direction they're trying to push gaming.

If you're embarrassed by it, then that says more about you than anyone else. Just because you don't have enough confidence in yourself to be able to watch this without being embarrassed doesn't mean that anyone else should feel ashamed watching it, or the developers for making it. Not everyone shares your world view, and most people probably don't care what your world view is anyhow. It's fine to express that view, but don't try to say others should also feel the same. I would play DOA in public. I have on the vita. I'll play it with friends, and I'll even play it with my wife as she enjoys the game.

It's not me up on screen in skimpy clothing doing things I'd be embarrassed about, and since I don't feel like I have to live up to anyone's standards for what's appropriate, I don't feel embarrassed by playing this game.

As someone who plays DOA ALOT and is often considered one of the best Jacky players on Xbox I can tell you that DOA6 has been dumbed down. With the simple addition of the strike button they have made it even easier for counter mashing noobs to escape pressure.

It feels extremely casual and for me it’s a turn off. I didn’t buy it day one and most likely I won’t buy it. I main Jacky and Hayate and since Jacky is not in doa 6 Hayate is now my true main. They didn’t give him ANY new moves they simply gave him dash moves similar to Kasumi’s dashes. Very disappointed in DOA6 at this point.

When it's a bad review for a game they like the reviews are "bad, stupid, uninformed, etc."

But when it's a bad review for a game they want to hate, the reviews are "on point, solid, correct consensus, etc."

In this case they're giving reasons why it's a bad review. I agree in this case and I haven't played the game yet. The things they criticized in this game have no effect on the game play, and instead, they focus too much on presentation. I thought we had moved past that last gen when polygon and kotaku decided to raise up western devs by saying all Japanese games were equal to soft core porn

So you couldn't even figure out a simple rock/paper/scissor mechanic? wow this guy really didn't try, he literally went into this wanting to hate it. I could go through and rip his review apart with all the made up negatives (sound? really? the sound is perfect, always has been in DOA games, nothing that's going to blow your mind, but what fighting game does?) like saying the faces are expressionless, then immediately follows up with an image showing pretty good facial expressions. not to mention https://twinfinite.net/2019...

I was an Eurogamer's fan as I visited the site frequently for years, even though I'm from and in South America, but this kind of reviews sheds direct light on the reason why I haven't returned to the site, it's filled with hypocrites and hate activists waiting to jump the gun on everything that doesn't fit their extreme political agenda (the editor is one of the worst btw), it's a shame 'cause they still have Eurogamer Retro and Digital Foundry. Never again, Eurogamer, you don't seem to care for gaming anymore or radness, or plain fun. You seem to think that you can do without old fans, so wish granted, at least on my front, thanks for the memories.
