IGN: FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play Review

Overall this year's FIFA offering isn't much of a step, but it's still moving in the right direction. The big change for 09 is All-Play, and the addition of eight-on-eight mode along with it, and while that's a great move for casual gamers, it comes at the expense of still taking the #2 spot behind Pro Evolution Soccer. If you want solid online (both vs. and the fan-favorite league play), some simple fun with Footii mode, and a pretty strong - but virtually unchanged - manager mode, you'll get it. What you won't get, however, is the innovative control found in FIFA's main competition, much of a change in interface, overall gameplay, or extra modes, or any serious changes outside of the All-Play branding and eight-on-eight. It's yet another solid game of soccer, but nothing that's out to change the way you think about Wii soccer.

any of the games shown? If so, would you recommend them to others?

I have played Mario Strikers Charged and thought it was a lot of fun, reminded me A LOT of NHL Hitz.

Also, anybody that keeps up with soccer(or football) know if there is a "favored" team to win the World Cup out of the teams that are still in it?

One of the very highly anticipated games of 2009. Although it doesn't have too many new features, the graphics will be outstanding for sure...

The new cricket game - Ashes cricket 09 has a lot more new features. Their first cricket game in 2 years.

kingdavid5369d ago

Is that all that matters? Graphics? pfft. Theyll be the same graphics as the last 2 versions.

Gameplay is all that matters.

Madusha5369d ago

The gameplay will be similar, i don't think there will be too many changes.

EMGN5369d ago

I agree, the FIFA games are very repetitive.. there are not many changes in gameplay.

Madusha5368d ago

Yeah, what they need to do is add something completely new. This one has manager mode which will probably increase sales by a lot more but EA needs to do more than that. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I've loved all the FIFA games, it's just the repetition.

EMGN5368d ago

Just like the EA sport cricket games, these are gonna stop selling eventually unless they come up with something completely, completely new. Small features won't work. I definitely won't be buying FIFA 10 since I already have FIFa 09.
