War Thunder Dev Asked Sony About Console Crossplay Multiple Times, Haven't Received Clearance Yet

Gaijin, the developer of War Thunder, told Wccftech they asked Sony about joining the ongoing Cross-Play Beta program multiple times but didn't get clearance yet. This is preventing them to enable three-way crossplay between PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

I think Sony is being overly cautious by continuing it's beta program, and I think they should get more games on it.

Another dev asking for crossplay from Sony...(or is it just another case of xbox fanboys asking for it) And they've been asking for it for while now it seems, from the very beginning even before Fortnite and Rocket League. I guess the que to get into the beta program is long from a lot of devs wanting and asking for this.

And another dev which has nothing back from Sony. neither a yes or no. He filed for cross play compliance testing, and that's where it's at. That's where it seems to be at for a lot of devs now. This dev isn't special. Sony is prolonging the beta for some reason. No one knows why, or is saying why, but this dev doesn't seem to be in the loop, so whatever he has to say doesn't mean much. There are probably a lot of devs waiting patiently for approval, and most of them aren't trying to promote themselves off the backs of Sony.

Ironically, War Thunder actually has a odd workaround to get cross play between consoles in one mode, and it hasn't been asked to turned off by either console maker. Guess that kind of thing doesn't make the news though, because no one actually cares. My guess, is that it went under their radars, because they don't really care enough about the game, and it doesn't get enough attention in the console market to make a difference.

I don't know what Sony's current requirements are for getting into the beta. The beta was supposed to be over by the last week of January, at which point, most assumed that that meant Sony would open it for all, because they are already accepting compliance applications with the API enabled.

Cross play will come. Sony isn't going to release an API, with compliance standards in place, and not enable it. That's a pretty big waste of their time.

Which developer is complaining about this? Shouldn't the bigger story be Sony not charging for F2P games but games you actually pay for? Why doesn't Sony just offer all their multiplayer for free if that's the case...where the outcry?

Cross Platform games only help the deserted xbox live servers, not psn. so my point stands. people should be complaining about their own preferred brand instead of BEGGING sony to fill their empty servers with their clients.

If they applied for compliance, then they'd either get a yes or no answer, and a no answer would be accompanied by a reason. That's standard operations for Sony.

Any dev can now submit games with the cross play game implemented. However, they still need permission to activate the feature once it's approved. There are games that are approved now, but aren't activated, and from what I've read, it seems Sony is being excessively slow in rolling out new games into what most are calling an beta which has been extended for some unknown reason.

Cross play is coming I guess. Sony is just too damn pragmatic and bureaucratic for their own good sometimes.

They've been asking since the very beginning which was almost near PS4's launch. They asked well before Fornite and Rocket League. Saying "just because" is not an excuse.
