The Division 2 looks the 'crispest' on Xbox One X says Ubisoft

One of Ubisoft's most-anticipated new titles is The Division 2, the sequel to the popular first game that launched back in 2016. The Division 2 is a third-person military shooter.

Common sense Xbox One X is stronger....

Obscure_Observer1932d ago

Future proof console. The new X can wait till 2022

Cmv381932d ago

Yeah.... except not many people bought this future proof console....

TK-551932d ago (Edited 1932d ago )

@cmv38

Guess power never mattered to those people then.

Razzer1931d ago

"The new X can wait till 2022 "

lol.....oh, I think Microsoft is ready for this gen to be over a bit sooner than that.

FPS_D3TH1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

You’ll want that since you bought the X but Microsoft isn’t going to sleep on a two year head start on the next PlayStation, which will obviously outperform an X.

TKCMuzzer1931d ago

I tell you now, NO console is future proof.

conanlifts1931d ago

Not going to happen. I think the next xbox will launch next year with 2 variations. The cheaper variation will be a variation of the X, something like the S with a few tweaks and maybe even without a Blu ray drive. Then the second will be a premium high powered console.

Not stronger than pc, this is just pr.

bluefox7551931d ago

Been seeing a lot of this PR lately, lol. I think most people know what's really going on, fortunately.

kevnb1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

Yes, but over time mid range gets more powerful. I think next gen consoles might actually have good bc though. The kind where old games look and play better than before.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1931d ago

Yes because everyone suddenly has a pc more powerful than the X...

Razzer1931d ago

"Yes because everyone suddenly has a pc more powerful than the X... "

Not everyone has a PC more powerful than the X. Hell, not everyone has a PC more powerful than the Switch. But the fact is there are gaming PCs more powerful than the X and anyone can get one. The availability is there whether you like it or not.

Donnie811931d ago

I bet it’s stronger than most people’s pc. You say pc like everyone’s rocking i7s and titans. Most people are playing league of legends at 720 p if they are lucky. The pro and the 1x crap all over the average pc so maybe that makes your comment pr

kevnb1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

@donnie what a straw man, there are more high end video cards out there than Xbox one Xs. The x is a pretty niche.

Razzer1931d ago

"I bet it’s stronger than most people’s pc. You say pc like everyone’s rocking i7s and titans. Most people are playing league of legends at 720 p if they are lucky. The pro and the 1x crap all over the average pc so maybe that makes your comment pr "

So when it comes to console you want to pretend like everyone is "rocking" Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, but when it comes to PC you only want to talk about the "average"? LOL. I hope you realize how ridiculous of a comparison that is.

Donnie811931d ago

Yeah there are plenty more high end graphics cards out there than the 1x and most of them are being used for things other than games like work. I figured someone with a monster rig wouldn’t care about a console. Seems maybe you’re comment might only appeal to “niche” crowd. I think it’s great people can get a taste of higher end gaming for less than 500$

Fritzwochel1932d ago

It is stronger, but the Pro features AMDs rapid packed math, which if utilized properly, in some cases makes the Pro outperform the X. One such example is Anthem.

slavish01931d ago

No anthem is not optimized on Xbox and PC. Nice try

343_Guilty_Spark1931d ago

Secret sauce doesn’t do as much as you think it does.

dRanzer1931d ago

343_Guilty_Spark@
You from all the people should know lol

conanlifts1931d ago

No, it wont. FP16 is never a substitute for FP32 to make a card more powerful. It is too soon to say Anthem runs better on the pro than the X as the game is only in a demo/beta state and not released. Updates could easily fix this. In addition the X is running native 4k vs the ps4 running around 1800p, if these problems persist on the X then bioware should just lower the resolution to 1800p, which i predict would reverse the performance findings in the beta/demo.

The final result could end up the same, but I would wait until it has released to make this statement. In fact I would wait a few months until Anthem has released to play it on any platform, it will likely have a lot of server and performance issues in the first few months.

i dont understand journalists and gamers

games look identical on every platform (PC,PS4,XBOX)

one might have a higher res but its the same damn graphics why argue about it
every GEN the games look the damn same on every platform it will always be the way

performance is what matters

Gemmol1932d ago

I say that about games ported with switch I don’t mind down res as long as it have all the features

Cmv381932d ago

Can't say the same about the switch.... have you seen nba 2k19 ave other recently released multiplatform games?

Gemmol1931d ago

@CMV38

i have nba 2k19 for switch i put 150 hours i see no issue with the game

TK-551932d ago

"games look identical on every platform (PC,PS4,XBOX)"

There are definitely games on PC that have a graphical edge over the console versions and its more than just a higher resolution.

kevnb1932d ago (Edited 1932d ago )

There are games with graphical settings differences between ps4, Xbox 1, ps4 pro and Xbox one x. Include pc and there is almost always settings higher than any console version. You don’t even have to take my word for it, digital foundry shows it.

kevnb1932d ago

That’s actually not true at all, many games have different settings on even PlayStation vs Xbox. On top of that, render resolution makes a huge difference in visual quality anyway.

conanlifts1931d ago

It depends on the game, some like shadow of war have a higher resolution and 4k textures, which make a difference. Others are simply 1800p vs 2160p, which is far less obvious.

theXtReMe11932d ago

i’m interested to see what it looks like. For the first time today I played The Division on my X and even with its upgrades, it doesnt look great. Even worse is it gameplay. One big hit box. Targeting body parts means nothing in the game. It is also a very linear environment. Meaning the entire map is one big façade. You can only go in a handful of buildings, it’s just very boring and lacks any interaction. I hope the new game not only looks better, but plays better also. The videos look a little more promising, but it still doesn’t look like gameplay has changed a whole bunch from the first game. it’s truly why I cannot wait till next generation until we have more powerful CPUs that can pull off better physics and AI, not to mention better world simulation. I want more next generation than just prettier games. I want physics to become a integral part of gameplay. Something that was promised back when an Xbox 360 came out.

DaDrunkenJester1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

Well that's false because headshot do critical damage... maybe try aiming better?

averagejoe261931d ago

The game looks the best on PC though, as always.

Nice try :)

AngainorG7X1931d ago

For 450$, no, only on X. :)

Razzer1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

"For 450$, no, only on X. :) "

"Best" doesn't have a dollar limit. And there are those who bought a launch $500 Xbox One and then turned around and bought a $500 Xbox One X. So yeah....about that....

AngainorG7X1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

@Razzer

Same goes for PS4/Pro. And the irony is that those who upgraded to Pro spent almost a grand in total this generation and still don't have a Native 4K title. And some PC titles come with performance issues and lack of HDR. I don't have to worry about anything that's why the X is value for money and the best place to play

Razzer1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

lol....why are you moving the goal posts over to PS4 Pro? Sure....PS4 gamers bought mid-gen consoles as well. How does that invalidate my point at all? It actually backs it up. Don't talk about costs of PC hardware
when console gamers have shown they are willing to spend just as much or more.

"And some PC titles come with performance issues and lack of HDR. I don't have to worry about anything that's why the X is value for money and the best place to play "

And some Xbox One X titles cannot achieve native 4K or 60 FPS. Almost none of them can achieve both. Whether or not a dev decided to implement HDR is hit and miss, sure. I'll take higher performance myself every time as many times the HDR implementation sucks regardless. So those are not conclusive statements. I'll tell you what is conclusive. Running Forza Horizon 4 on my PC smokes Xbox One X in every way. One X, you gotta choose 4K or 60 FPS. I'm running 4K 60 with better visuals on every MS first party Windows game and I'm not even running top of the line hardware. Best place to play is definitely not One X for me.

edit: for the record PS4 Pro does have native 4K games.

Blood & Truth his number one game. Nice pick. One of the best VR games ever made. Basically Uncharted in VR with British gangster skin.

Abnor_Mal1602d ago

Blood &Truth was the truth. Well written story of London underground shady characters. Lots of action that made the game play out like a summer blockbuster movie. The shooting was memorable with only one hiccup on the elevator trying to target while behind cover was a bit troubling. Will play though it again on the new hard mode and also try to use the Aim controller for the shooting gallery. Such a great game and can understand why it was picked as the authors game of the year.

The Division 2: Episode 1 D.C. Outskirts Review - Parallax Media

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 had a strong start to the year, and while it wasn’t perfect, it still proved itself to be leagues better than the original game’s release back in 2016. Ubisoft has hopes to continue the upward trend with the latest release of free DLC, Episode 1 – D.C. Outskirts.

Do “Online-only” Games Need an “Offline” Mode

Should companies start planning for a game's shutdown ahead of time? Would offline spin-offs or patches that let people play something unplugged be wise for the future?

Then they wouldn't be "Online Only"

Kingthrash3601763d ago

Why just flat out no? I mean what would it hurt to have some kind of offline mode so you can still use the product you paid for if their server goes down or the internet goes down or you just want to play alone and relax?

Online only just means it has an expiration date.

JackBNimble1762d ago

What's the problem with offline mode ?
I don't see why this can't be an option.

-Foxtrot1763d ago (Edited 1763d ago )

By that meaning a game like Monster Hunter World or The Division which allow you to play by yourself but require you to be constantly online where you can't even pause the game?

Then yes...yes they do.

If you are playing by yourself, are in a private session with no other players and you aren't playing with friends or are in a party then there's no need to be constantly online.

ApocalypseShadow1763d ago (Edited 1763d ago )

I Didn't buy it but here's a perfect example: Starblood Arena
http://www.pushsquare.com/n...

Attempt to patch it for offline but failed
https://www.reddit.com/r/PS...
Goes offline tomorrow.

The developer should have had single player with optional multi player from day one. When you make a game online only, that cuts out a large group of buyers. When the servers go down or other online gamers move on to something new, you can no longer play. Also, single player games with online connection is also wrong. There's no need for DRM.

When you buy a game, you should be able to play it when you spent money on it. At least have Bots as an option.

I know the intent is to make an online game. Or, the developer doesn't have funds to do both. But when some developers who have less money can do both, it looks like a cash grab of micro transactions with no trade in value or something you can't lend to a friend.

I mostly play single player anyway. But I did buy Firewall Zero Hour used for $17.99 because it looks great and is awesome with the AIM controller after the free weekend demo. I refused to buy it new because of what it is. It's online only with barely no single player options except for training missions. And only **ONE** mode for online. ONE. No story, no hostage saving, no PvP free for all, no capture the flag, etc. And the developer seems fine with not adding any other modes but more micro transactions. Which is sad. So I only play the training missions which is like horde mode until the game goes offline. Then it's unplayable because it requires an online connection. Single player option with Bots not requiring online should be a must for any game you buy.

Zjet1762d ago

Yes.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint being online only is an absolute stupid decision.

Anthem could be rediscovered and preserved if it had offline single player support, but now it will most likely shutdown and die and be lost to history forever.

Etc etc

Media preservation is becoming more of an issue these days but the new age consumers are being told to treat services like goods and pay for them not to own but rent.
