Waitaminute, a new Titanfall this year.

Wouldn't it be funny if it was an actual sequel

crazyCoconuts1913d ago

I'd be excited about that! After all the talk that Titanfall was finished? Did Respawn troll us?

Nitrowolf21912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

They never said it was finished

Baza1912d ago

Prett sure Respawn just said they have been working on Apex Legends the last few years, NOT Titanfall. Why lie about it. Looks like EA is already corrupting their culture

gangsta_red1912d ago

No troll, just people jumped the gun and got all upset as soon as Respawn made a BR game.

crazyCoconuts1912d ago

@gangsta & Nitro, from the Respawn lead producer, just a few days ago: "There are some people who think there are too many battle royale games or it’s a fad, the world thinks we’re making Titanfall 3 and we’re not – this is what we’re making."

RememberThe3571912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

I thought I read something about a Titanfall VR game? Could they put a premium label on it for sh!ts and giggles?

So...has Respawn suddenly grown exponentially from a staffing standpoint? A smaller studio that has been working on 3 titles simultaneously? Apex, Star Wars, and now a full new TF3? Um I don't know how that would be possible.

DaDrunkenJester1912d ago

They also announced they were working on a AAA VR game as well.

Nitrowolf21912d ago

I wouldn’t be surprised if that ends up being titanfall tbh

MrSec841912d ago

They're up to 208 people based on their staff pics on their website.

Looking at how many people worked on Titanfall 2 they made that game in 2 years, with 90 people.
They would have given themselves 3 years to put out a proper 3rd game, so staff numbers could have been lowered or divided over T3 and Apex Legends.

Their Star Wars game could be a ways off and they may not put big resources on it until most of the stuff their making is done.

We also don't have an idea of how big their Oculus game is.
Point is it's perfectly feasible that the studio can do this, considering how many people work there and how long it's been since they expanded their numbers.

I'm still worried because this is what happened to DICE. Working on too many products that ran into unforseen issues which resulted in overworked staff, reshuffling of resources and people leaving. I hope we don't see history repeat itself.

MrSec841912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

@TK: I wouldn't worry too much, Apex essentially seems like the Battle Royale Mode for Titanfall, with it's own querks.
It just happens that it was ready before the next "Premium Titanfall" game is finished.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of assets and the core gameplay from Apex transfers to the next Titanfall game.

It remains to be seen what will happen with the next Star Wars game coming from Respawn, could be years away and as much as their VR game was supposedly coming this year, they haven't said anything about it for ages.

Titanfall could be their main focus, with side resources devoted to the VR title and Star Wars.

We also have to factor in that core studios do outsource work to other studios outside of their own, whether it's within EA or using other companies.

Respawn could effectively be managing and handling the core work, with less demanding stuff being delegated to other companies.

I can't help but feel that this announcement blindsided Respawn and now they'll have the pressure to rush a Titanfall game just to meet a deadline.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad601d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g601d ago (Edited 601d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

littletad882d ago

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal880d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
