New Titanfall Battle Royale Game to Be Released This Monday, EA Trademarks Apex Legends

A Titanfall battle royale game is said to be dropping this Monday for PS4, Xbox One, PC! It'll be F2P, and will feature microtransactions. EA has also trademarked "Apex Legends," for use in "computer video game software" which should add to this rumor's legitimacy.

Jin_Sakai1916d ago (Edited 1916d ago )

Before anyone complains about no Titans. It’s labeled Apex Legends. It’s set it the Titanfall universe.

Hopefully it’s good.

Nitrowolf21916d ago (Edited 1916d ago )

I hope it’s good to, only cause I want Respawn to be successful. Though at the same time, this is just dropping out of the blue, could do good for them or could end up being dead on arrivial.

-Foxtrot1916d ago

Sad thing is if Respawn is successful the people who gain the most is EA, not them.

antz11041916d ago

Same, I will support this because TF2 was great and I want Respawn to succeed.

F2P Titanfall game with EA controlling the economy, what can go wrong? :/

Teflon021915d ago

I'll bite and give it a shot. I don't care for Titanfall overall, but this sounds like it could be decent

Majin-vegeta1916d ago

Apparently it's barely going to be announced

Critic4l_Strik31916d ago

and releasing in 2 days. Wish they did some more marketing

Super bowl announcement most likely.

Palitera1915d ago

Maybe they decided for a stealth release to avoid backslash. F2P + Battle Royale... Surely it would get A LOT of ragebait articles.

So EA releases this instead of BF5’s battle royal? Seems odd.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1916d ago

Yes I’m aware of that and you’re kind of making my point for me.

InTheZoneAC1915d ago

did the game even allow you to play on Day 1, it seems all the features it was supposed to have were "coming soon"

isa_scout1916d ago

Why wouldn't they? It's two completely separate studios. If Respawn is ready and DICE isn't then let DICE take their time. The only thing really odd is that instead of marketing what has the potential to be a competitor in the BR genre they instead kept it hidden. Makes Me wonder what is wrong with it. Knowing EA it could be anything or everything.

Qweets1916d ago

EA doesn't make the content dude. That's on dice. This is all respawns baby. I'm sure they have been working on it for quite awhile to try to compete with fortnite. Titanfall deserves to have a big following it's an amazing game with one of the best movement systems out there. I'm excited

isa_scout1915d ago

I'm cautiously optimistic. Loved Titanfall 2.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1915d ago

I know EA doesn’t make the content but don’t think for one second that if EA said they wanted BR mode ready at launch for BF5 that Dice wouldn’t have abliged. The problem I have with this is I PAID for BF5 without BR mode yet this BR game comes out for free first? Seems like EA doesn’t have their priorities in order.

bluefox7551916d ago

Oh great, just what I wanted....

theshredded1916d ago

More exposure to Titanfall is good but hopefully it's good exposure. I want a battle royale game that I actually like. The big 3 now just don't do it for me.

alb18991915d ago

Battlegrounds for me is the best game this generation. I can play this game everyday and want more.
I like a lot Titanfall so I hope is a good game.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad601d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g601d ago (Edited 601d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

littletad882d ago

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal880d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
