You've Got to See This First-Person Shooter in Dreams

One project that’s been blowing our mind is Project Zero, a “cinematic first-person shooter with momentum filled gameplay”. It’s in production by a team calling itself DISARMED, which has already published some spectacular stuff in the Dreams beta

I have a sneaking suspicion developers will be born from dreams. There are some hidden creative's out there that may use this as their segway into the industry or maybe just to the next level.

crazyCoconuts1939d ago

Right. I hear recruiters go after mod developers... Wonder if they'll sift through Dreams for potential new hires some day...

lucian2291939d ago

im imagining new dev teams will be born. Little big planet already had community collaborations including the last big content release "Carnavalia" worked on by LBP's best creators.

I feel as if patreon funded teams will be born for dreams. Modelers, music creators, level designers etc will all be able to get a dev team going and make fully fledged games.

Dreams will be the youtube of gaming.

Sony should host a contest a year after it comes out where they'll ask for the best brand new game designed from Dreams, at least one level long, as a basis for a future brand new IP that Sony will fund if they win.

That will get the creative talent out more and put them into full overdrive.

Rimeskeem1939d ago

I believe media molecule actually took prominent level creators from LBP to help them make this game.

How rad would it be if Sony hired these guys the way SEGA created the Sonic Mania team?

How to win next-gen Day 1.

Make Dreams an application pre-built into PS5, and allow gamers/developers to produce free/paid for content for PS5 with this creation tool, after being verified by PlayStation moderators.

This is absolutely amazing what they've made with Dream thus far in beta, and even graphically speaking none of what has been shown has been a downgrade from what developers with multi-million dollar budgets have produced and in some cases better.

A quick and easy way to allow people who dream of becoming game developers and easy way of bringing their ideas to life and gaining a following and spotlight from Sony and other developers in the Dreams community.

Sony needs to get on board with this and gamedev.world.

While people are concerned with hardware for next-gen (myself included), this is the type of announcement that wins the hearts of gamers and developers, and provides unrivaled diversity from around the globe.

Go to youtube and look at some of the creations in this game. Truly amazing, more than I EVER could have anticipated.

That's what I'm thinking. The possibilities of having all these unique experiences from people who love games, and aren't hell bent on nickel and diming the customers, would be a huge draw to the platform.

Just think that every kind of game can be made with this system.

At Sony HQ meeting today: ' Guys, I have an idea for the PS5 !'

rainslacker1939d ago

Everything they release like this has been more and more impressive. I think Dreams is going to be huge.

If they integrate this game into PS5 somehow, it's going to redefine gaming, as it gives accessibility to what can appear daunting to the uninitiated. Things like this are going to get people's interest, and the amateur devs are going to eat this up to have such a large place to show off their work.

Veneno1939d ago

Dang this is cooler than most of the junk that comes out from developers.

ibrake4naps1939d ago

wow, and we're only at the beta! :-O

This make me want a killzone reboot bad.

Seriously unlimited characters would be cool

If there was one PC version that should have existed it’s Dreams

I’m super glad they will be going back to something more traditional gaming wise.

Cacabunga17d ago

I’m sure they’ll find something creative to implement like Tearaway on vita. What a gem 💎 that thing was!!!

Abear2117d ago

My dream was DreamsVR and creating landscapes, characters, and sculptures using that amazing toolbox in vr, that would have been something imo.

ocelot0717d ago

I thought It has vr support?

Amplitude17d ago

It did but it came out as an update LONG after the game was essentially dead

P_Bomb17d ago

Dreams PC was the dream. Woulda given the game a much needed boost. Here’s hoping they follow it up well.

phoenixwing17d ago

If sony had any sense they'd be making a pc version pronto

mkis00717d ago

They probably ran into the same problem they did with the potential of last of us factions....the support needed was just too much to consider expanding to more platforms for a smallish studio.

Abnor_Mal17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

I use to say this when the game was first releasing, many kept saying it would not be possible, something about the toolsets.

I said this was one game that needed to be on as many platforms as possible, including PC and Xbox just like how Minecraft is everywhere.

Goodguy0117d ago

Creation tools just don't work on console very well. It's definitely more suited for PC, and it's very odd Sony decided not to port it over. Good MM is working on an actual game instead.

Dreams Dev Media Molecule Says Layoffs Impact Planned Community and Curation Support

IGN writes: "Media Molecule has said the layoffs at the Sony-owned studio have affected plans for ongoing community and curation support in Dreams."

Inverno61d ago

How self sustained can DREAM be when it's basically stuck on PS4? I don't think it's even gotten a PS5 upgrade. Ending support for what is essentially a game making engine is basically death. SONY did DREAMS dirty.
