I’m always excited for announcements but we’ve heard these same statements before every E3 this generation.

Team_Litt1934d ago (Edited 1934d ago )

I'd say E3 2018 was pretty damn big for Microsoft. 5 new studios. Unannounced games including Halo Infinite and the highest rated racing game of the generation...

I don't see why E3 2019 wouldn't be great as well. Perhaps we'll get to see the new games from some of the new studios. Price cuts? New hardware teased? Exciting times.

NarutoFox1933d ago

I don't know why you're getting downvoted when your saying facts

Potnoodle9991933d ago

It’s called a disagree vote. I happen to disagree with everything in his statement. It’s not a downvote button. I disagree with most statements that seem to say Xbox are doing well. They are not. That’s my opinion and although I respect others opinions (except blind fanboys) I will still vote with a disagree, same as a lot of others.

mikeslemonade1933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Cloud game streaming is stupid. Don’t support it because latencey is still shit and you don’t want everybody playing games because then they will focus on making casual games ie. Wii1, iPhone, and android.

The only thing I like is cloud computing assisting a set-top box.

Bronxs151933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

when you think about it, they have had some pretty good announcements during e3. most recent the cyber punk reveal. prior to that the one x and the one s was pretty neet "4k system". personally for me the biggest e3 was the announcement of 360 backward compatibility. thats what made me get my xbox one, becaause i was able to trade int eh 360 on a special and pick up a one x for really cheap. if not for backward compatibility i would not have traded my xbox 360 as i was keeping it in case i wanted to play some of my 360 library at some point. but being able to do that one the one x meant i could trade in the 360 and still have a device for playing my older gaming library.

edit: oh yes, purchasing studios especially ninja theory was a big "announcement" or "reveal".

rainslacker1933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Maybe they'll have twice as many computers on a huge stage, that don't get used for anything?

That's exciting right?

I imagine there will be some teasers from their new studio acquisitions. Their new studio I'm not sure they're even into production yet, and MS may not want to announce that too early. A couple may be ready to show something that will release sooner rather than later.

Xcloud progress I think would be fine to just issue a press release. PSNow wasn't a big thing for Sony at E3 when they did it there, and I don't expect it to do much for MS, even if they announce its going live. The fact its still in progress makes me question why they announced it this past year, but whatever.

As far as other unannounced games, this past E3 did have a lot. But many were multi-plat, and many were indie titles.

I'm not going to get all excited for MS E3 beyond seeing the new games, because Spencer has overhyped them in the past, and while they aren't always bad shows, and there are usually some things to get excited over, you can only set the bar high so many times to then underdeliver, and still be taken seriously.

It's really no different than Geoff Keighleys VGA hype statements.

UltraNova1933d ago

I want to see new 1st party games shown in real-time with a release date of 1 year down the line max. This is all that (should) matters.

But yeah...its really not exciting to watch a race of one... MS will literally have the E3 stage alone. To each their own I guess.

bouzebbal1933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Going big for e3 like every year 👌🏽👌 28076;🏽

E3 2019 is gonna be awesome!

New unannounced games?

Playground´s new RPG/IP
Ninja Theory new Game/IP
RARE new Game/IP
The Coalition new Game/IP
Halo Infinite reveal
New studio acquisitions

I´m there will be even more unannounced surprises! I can´t wait!

1933d ago
Godmars2901933d ago

Most of which likely wont be out for years with further E3s in-between.

Potnoodle9991933d ago

You won’t see half of that. Any of those announcements made will be staggered over the next 2 years. Just like all other console makers first party devs🙄

Imalwaysright1933d ago

HentaiElmo

Does Ninja Theory have to finish a project for another publisher? If not and considering that Hellblade was released in august 2017, we may see their first 1st party game for MS at E3.

sprinterboy1933d ago

Your delusional if you think your gonna see stuff from Rare, ninja theory and coalition.

sprinterboy1933d ago

Plus most of them games won't be coming until the release of xbox two X anyhow.

BadElf1933d ago

RARE will still be mainly focused with SoT...which is good. But, a Banjo Kazooie/Tooie REMAKE should be happening as we speak, on the side.

Hopefully

NarutoFox1933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Take note folks. This is the way you sell, advertise, and market Microsoft especially if you work for them 😂😁

rainslacker1933d ago

Playground is a good possibility.
Ninja Theory is a maybe, but depends on when they started whatever they're working on
Rare - Doubt their new IP, but probably a SoT expansion
The Coalition - A teaser at best. I don't think they've moved out of pre-production yet, and its likely a next gen game.
Halo Infinite - Very likely
New studio acquisitions - If they have some, then probably. But not exactly all that riviting.

Most announcements will probably be for 3rd party games. Xcloud will be a bunch of fancy marketing talk, and if they aren't ready to launch it by this E3, they probably shouldn't have brought it up yet.

I expect more talk about Game Pass, as that's their big thing now.

blah blah blah, like always. he is always says biggest show, and this gen is went from bad to worst. they hype everything with no reason. scammers in other words.

Team_Litt1933d ago

Last year was the biggest though.

TK-551933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Didn't Phill also say during VGA that they could do better? So while I'm sure his job is to put a positive spin on things for the company there have been moments where you see that they're aware that they need to step their game up.

As for E3 though I agree they had announcements (mainly the studio acquisitions) that show they're progressing towards being on the right path.

bluefox7551933d ago

Was it? Seemed pretty lackluster to me. More promises, with still nothing to show for it.

Potnoodle9991933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Jesus really? Their biggest? Nothing they have done this gen has trumped their actions during the 360 gen. where are their stellar exclusives??? Because that is all that matters in console gaming. We all have third party games so where are the very highly rated Xbox exclusives they have promised for the last decade?? Nowhere to be seen. I have zero faith any new studio owned by microsoft will produce any GOTY contenders. They need to work for years with these studios before reaching a similar Calibre as ninty or Sony and proving they have the chops to compete.

Will they produce new IPs? Sure.
Will they be of naughty dog/Guerrilla/ sucker punch/ Santa Monica etc,etc level? No they will not. Maybe after 10 years of grafting just like these devs had to!

RosweeSon1933d ago

Pile of turd yeah. Got some new developers still no games for games console unless they got confirmed release dates for a barrage of games they might as well save em for next Gen

@CP_Company

I´m sure Phil will deliver a great show and might disappoint some people who wants Xbox to crash and burn. Fun times ahead. :)

xX-oldboy-Xx1933d ago

Let's say for arguments sake - He doesn't. Like this whole gen, over promise - under deliver.

Will he be called out? Or do we look to the VGA's? Wait for E32020? Gamescom? ms own show?

I admire the resilience of xbox fans, you really do see the glass half full.

This is Sony Playstation fan website. Your not supposed to post positive comments about Xbox here

rainslacker1933d ago

He doesn't need to worry about disappointing those who want Xbox to crash and burn. He needs to worry about not disappointing everyone else. For the most part, MS has done that a lot more than they've satisfied everyone else this gen.

blank_keys1933d ago

Meanwhile Sony’s time is running out because they keep making dumb decisions.

xX-oldboy-Xx1933d ago

Really? Nothing seems to be affecting their sales. Can you name a few of these 'dumb decisions'?

rainslacker1933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

Dumb decisions to keep investing in new games?

Somehow, I think as a PS gamer, that is probably not as bad for me as you seem to want to make it out to be.

If Sony wants to be dumb, and keep funneling all that money into new games, I say I hope they become even dumber.

The only dumb decision I'll call them out on is their censorship stuff, but as much as I hate that, it won't cause them any major issues for the future, and their time isn't running out because of it

About the only thing Sony is running out of time on, is running out of time to screw up this gen, or do something so catastrophic, it could negatively affect them next gen.

trooper_1933d ago

So announcing new games are dumb decisions?

You guys literally crack me up.

I hope Phil really does deliver this time.

Time to see what those new studios are working on. He also said that he want to Rare studio and saw the new game they are working on. We should hear more about Anaconda and finally see X Cloud in action.

E3 2019 here we come!

Obscure_Observer1933d ago (Edited 1933d ago )

@Vasto

I heard that Obsidian is on a hiring spree for their next AAA RPG! O.o

Just another blow at people who though that Microsoft will only invest on small/middle tier quality games.

HYPE!!!

OffRoadKing1933d ago

Temper that hype.

I remember when Scalebound was a "blow" to all the people that thought Microsoft couldn't do a Japanese action RPG and we all know how that turned out.

Kinglink1933d ago

They were on that hiring spree before the acquisition.

gunnerboy81933d ago

The problem will be the budget MS give the studios because they will want to make money off their investment and if the games are "free" on game pass then you need to temper expectations of sales. If you look at Sea of Thieves it's graphics while charming are also basic and less life-like in an attempt to keep the budget down and speed up development.

oakshin1933d ago

If it's multilayer focus I'll quit on xbox if I haven't already I mean they will die in my eyes as a console maker forever no matter what they do

rainslacker1933d ago

See XCloud in action? It's a streaming service....what do you expect them to show other than the games on it? Maybe the UI?

There would be no way to trust that anything they show in action would be representative of the end users experience. I mean, its streaming, the same thing Sony has with PSNow, and while it works fine for the most part, how it actually works for the end user is very hard to show off.

Can't wait to see what Ninja theory next project is, hopefully a game that even better than hellblade which was great

bluefox7551933d ago

Sounds great in theory, but they had creative freedom. MS tends to be far too hands on with their studios. I have a feeling they will make what MS wants them to make, rather than what they really want to make.

The Wood1933d ago

It's about balance. It's like they've been too overbearing or too slack. Definitely underachieving. Let's see if they nail their management of the upcoming studios and subsequent projects

Kribwalker1933d ago

I’m really surprised you have a negative take on some positive xbox news...especially when ninja theory themselves stated they have full creative freedom as part of their deal with MS......

gunnerboy81933d ago

And MS will not give each of these studios a huge budget as they like tried and tested sellers and are less prone to taking gambles

Goldby1932d ago

@Krib you can have as much creative freedom to make what ever you want, its whether or not the budget they were given allows that creative freedom.

While I love Hellblade, I want to see Hellblade with better combat. I love every moment of Hellblade but getting into the combat near the end of the game had me sighing. "Again?" It didn't really change enough over the entire game.

But that game was amazing otherwise.

UniqueGuy911933d ago

Can you tell me what was so great about Hellblade? I really want to know. I mean, the graphics was great and all and so is the sound effects. But, it's combat and storytelling was so underwhelming.

I predicted it would be Hermen Hulst as the new CEO, I never predicted there would be another…

Hulst will likely Host the PlayStation press event and hopefully there will be a positive energy at this new beginning for the division. I’m encouraged that both he and Hideaki Nishino reference the future so it sounds like Sony has a plan.

Lightning779h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I'm a bit skeptical. The new guy is unknown. Of all the leaders in the past 18 years Sony has had great leaders at the helm Carrying on the legacy of what made PS great. Sony's has a newer vision and focus for PS this time around. We'll see what happens.

As I said before two leads can be a good thing wherever they want to take PS they'll have a single joint focus and take PS to new heights (if said focus is gamer first) or bad if they have two different visions. Then you'll end up like the circus clowns over at MS.

Joint venture could be very tricky. They need to be on the exact same page on things. It's two guys calling shots.

We know Herman, but we dont know the other guy or his motives/agendas. Obviously it's to make money but how he'll go about it we'll see soon enough.

JackBNimble8h ago

That's why they would need 3 , so when they disagree they can vote . 1 on 1 could be asking for trouble, but at least sony isn't letting 1 guy take playstation in "his own direction ".

VenomUK1h ago(Edited 59m ago)

@Lightning77 You're right, it is definitely an unusual situation to have TWO CEOs so the question is why?
My guess is that Hulst as a former studio head of Guerrilla and Westerner is best placed to watch over and communicate with the near-universal Western PlayStation studios and film/TV production.

Hideaki Nishino seems to have the more senior role dealing with development of PlayStation hardware and the PSN which I believe is based in Japan so perhaps he is a better point of contact with them. As long as Hulst has a direct line of communication with Nishino and can communicate the desires and needs of developers and publishers for the next-gen then hopefully this two CEO system will turn out well. Hopefully!
