Trails of Cold Steel III's script is larger than The Lord of the Rings and all 7 Harry Potter books

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III was announced for a PS4 release in the west by NISA just recently. In their PAX South 2019 panel they talked about how they were handling the game’s localization, and revealed just how big the game’s script is.

Go all in if you like turnbased rpgs. Great story and characters. These games are slow though but its worth it for the very interesting story and world. If your new then definitely start with CS1+2 on steam or wait for the ps4 versions. If you really like these games and cant get enough then go all the way back to the trails in the sky games all on steam. One of the best jrpg franchises in years imo.

CS1 is releasing on February 12
CS2 on March 19
CS3 on November 1

If you're going into this series it's best to start with Cold Steel 1+2.

Or is it like final fantasy or persona where every number is stand alone game?

No, the stories definitely continue. There are separate arcs within the Trails series (Trails in the Sky, Trails to Zero/Azure, Trails of Cold Steel), and each arc has multiple games. Even the arcs interconnect. That being said, you can still play an arc by itself, and understand what's going on. So, you could start with the first Trails of Cold Steel game.
