developers moved on to make NiOh

pyroxxx1950d ago (Edited 1950d ago )

Funny I've been playing it again the last few days (Ive platinumed it long ago),..Trying fighting with Kusiragama to find out if it is really OP?,.. (not really,..) Tried the DLC,.. but damn I feel under-leveled,.. finished the game at around 130 lvl,.. and getting shit pushed in worse than BB at level 6,.. and there are recommended levels 195 and shit,..) Amazing game though. Ninja Gaidens are awesome,.. but often i feel almost too fast,.. like I am not in controll ,.. NiOH is better for me in a way,.. (I still suck)

blackblades1950d ago

Lol yeah, since its a success they gonna be on that bandwagon. Then again didnt they say the next NG is still being worked on. Anyways what they shouldve done was NG after nioh then nioh2 after NG.

CorndogBurglar1950d ago

This. Ninja Gaiden 3 happened and it sucked balls. And these days if 1 game fails you can pretty much forget another sequel.

It's sad too because Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 were phenomenal.

Godmars2901950d ago

"And these days if 1 game fails you can pretty much forget another sequel."

And yet Square keeps saying "hold mah beer..."

Segata1950d ago

Vanilla Ng3 sucks but I quite enjoyed NG3RE. They fixed most of the issues I had with vanilla. I didn't mind the story was straight B game nonsense. Kinda made it charming but the gameplay and features were just just enough I found RE fun.

kevnb1950d ago

I think that publisher interference messed that game up.

Seraphim1949d ago (Edited 1949d ago )

that's my first thought. Of course as noted in the first post, they moved onto Nioh but... yeah, NG3 happened. 1 and 2 were near perfect examples of what Ninja Gaiden should be. Level Design, game play, and so on, yeah, some bad camera angles but whatever. Not to say 3 was a bad game but it just wasn't great and didn't accomplish what 1 and 2 did for the reboot of the franchise.

Honestly, as much as I'd like to see them come back to Ninja Gaiden it's a bit refreshing that they've shelved the IP for some time, they're working on a great new[er] IP in Nioh 2 and hopefully when Ninja Gaiden comes back they'll do a great job, blah blah blah...

AK911949d ago

Don’t forget about Yaiba Ninja Gaiden that game was an abomination

Segata1949d ago

Made by Comcept. From the makers of Mighty No 9

Itagaki left Team Ninja.
They need to find new talent to replace him though.

CobraKai1950d ago

This. He was the mastermind behind how good it was.

Segata1950d ago

And how did he do when he left Team Ninja?

CobraKai1949d ago

And how did Ninja Gaiden do after he left Team Ninja?

Concertoine1840d ago (Edited 1840d ago )

@segata

To be fair that game was firmly in development hell. The original 360/ps3 version looked awesome.

Between DOA and the NG games its fair to say Itagaki knows how to make a solid game

blackblades1950d ago (Edited 1950d ago )

They have talent, if they made nioh right.
@Segata lol he ain't nothing now, it's funny how people talk highly of someone like him but once they leave and make there own game it sucked. Lets see this guy, the mighty no.9 creator and the other few that made something ok but wasn't successful which are cliff, Jeff.

PhoenixUp1949d ago

Itagaki can’t even replace his own inherent talent. Devil’s Third tanked even harder

Exvalos1949d ago

Man I forgot that game even existed

Godmars2901950d ago (Edited 1950d ago )

The guy who made it got fired/quit?

Also, story and plot progression made no sense and there was just more emphasis on gameplay.

Movefasta19931950d ago

but the game was legendary, no hack and slash or an game I have played was as intense on normal difficulty than ng1 and 2. Every minor enemy felt like a threat.

Godmars2901949d ago

Would counter that with Demon Souls, the title that's launched a sub-genre by offering a balance of story and gameplay where NG has the stigma of story, and the key dev brow beating people who had issues with it. Issues fixed or addressed in later versions of NG1 and NG2.

ShockUltraslash1949d ago

Souls has poor gameplay compared to Ninja Gaiden.

Movefasta19931949d ago

It's funny that you brought up demonS because it's my fav game of all time, but the atmosphere and level design and build variety is the reason, gameplay wise it doesn't hold a candle to those 2, the only game i can think of is dmc3 and 4, pure gameplay i mean.

Godmars2901949d ago

Still, the reason i brought it up is that its a thriving franchise or sub-genera where NG isn't. And part of that reason is legitimate quality and balanced verses fans "wanting" things while failing to recognize or accept basic issues like only one aspect of a title, combat, being any good.

Movefasta19931949d ago

@god but the series declined once the father left it, there's a huge decline in quality between his last game 2 and the next two ninja gaiden games, especially that cominstyle one, terrible.Once he left , it was a wrap for it. They should stick to nioh, because they have something special there.

ShockUltraslash1948d ago

Thats the important aspect. Souls isnt even trying to have complex mechanical combat like a hack and slasher.
Souls is about level design and RPG elements. NG is about pure action, they have different emphasis on what they want to do. Trying to shove some story into a Ninja Gaiden would just ruin the game.
Also Bayonetta.

Why do we need a remake of Dead or Alive, instead of a new installment in the series ?

blackblades527d ago (Edited 527d ago )

There's no remake it says reboot. There is a difference just like a difference with remaster as well. They all have re doesn't mean they are the same. They want to reboot and start fresh after both series with South. With there success with nioh series it might be a good idea and hopefully goes well for them and the games.

Crows90527d ago

Reboot ala tomb raider...i don't think you have a problem with that.

Number1TailzFan527d ago

Fighting games are too shallow, they were good at first.. up til around Tekken 3 and Soul Calibur on Dreamcast, because they had a ton of extra modes and challenges and stuff. Everything after is basically the same, or with even less content.

Terry_B527d ago

Sounds like you did not play a lot of fighting games after SC 1.

FinalFantasyFanatic527d ago

Really? I feel like they add way too many systems and options to some of the newer games. Like Soul Calibur 6 for example, feels like they'res just too much going on, whereas I loved 2 and memorized all the skills and options for my favorite characters, played through most of the modes as well.

boing1527d ago

Been playing Tekken for almost 30 years. It's the opposite of shallow.

A new Ninja Gaiden game could be outsourced to another developer, but only if it's one that fits the Ninja Gaiden pedigree.

What Happened to Ninja Gaiden?

Ninja Gaiden is a classic franchise that originated on the NES. It was successfully remastered in the mid-2000s but then faded away. What happened?

lucian229651d ago

Yup; it needs a revamp anyway; combat was good but story was a mess; and for some reason they made Ryu hideous; he was fine in DOA2-3, i'm not sure why they made him look like an older generic plastic man.

shadowfax33650d ago

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

zarbor650d ago

Clearly someone has not played Ninja Gaiden. Otherwise this comment wouldn't exist.

Ninja Gaiden on the SNES had such amazing music, and the gameplay was absolutely brutal but perfect. I also remember all the hype surrounding Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox, and that became one of my biggest reasons for buying one. Ninja Gaiden was the demon/dark souls game that I and so many others grew up playing, and just like those games, there were no excuses for dying because the core mechanics were rock solid.

Godmars290651d ago (Edited 651d ago )

To use an ancient phrase: "it got woke."

No, seriously. A game intended for action nerds who do energy drinks trough I-Vs and habitually watch ninja movies, someone thought it was a good idea to include enemies including psycho killer mercs, murderous mutants and literal feed on human suffering demons, wage slave security guards who only beg and plead for their lives when cornered. With no option not to kill them.

There was also that lame climbing mechanic...

tbagmonster650d ago

and the horde fighting sections where horrible as well

Concertoine650d ago

Not seeing how this constitutes “going woke”

Godmars290650d ago

Trying to make you the player regretful for killing a character who doesn't want to die, is obviously an innocent, while giving you no option but to kill them. To sour you against violent games while playing one.

ChubbyBlade650d ago

lol “woke”

I guess that just means “me no likey”

0hMyGandhi649d ago

"To sour you against violent games while playing one."

...That has almost nothing to do with "being woke".
