Can’t rush something that has so much potential like this game does.

SierraGuy1983d ago

Where's Xbox dreams...right dreams.

1983d ago
jagermaster6191983d ago

So true! If Sony does it it's ok though...

RedDevils1983d ago

And Xbox still late to the party.

UltraNova1983d ago

Warning:
PlayStation exclusive. Might cause assburn.

neutralgamer19921983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

Better than getting cancelled

Better than closure of studio

Better than released broken

And crackdown isn't out yet

Ps4 has dreams

Phil Spencer has dreams

One of them getting beta 👻😜 the other just empty dreams

Krib

To play the beta you don't need plus but you have to be online. That's for beta though. Stop spreading lies

If this was ms the game would have never recieved 5 reboots and the studio would jsbr been shut by now. Ms would have required xblive to play the beta

This whole gen Xbox has been fed stories about empty dreams by Phil Spencer. BTW here are some facts

Under Phil Spencer

More Xbox studios closed than ever before

More games cancelled than ever before

Yet Xbox fans want to give him credit. This man is nothing but PR

Rimeskeem1982d ago

At least it has a release date. When was Crackdown shown?

RauLeCreuset1982d ago

@jagermaster

"So true! If Sony does it it's ok though..."

That's a blatant falsehood.

Here's the best part though. You're arguing that Sony is getting away with something their competitors don't, which is not only untrue, but Phil Spencer actually tried to ride the Delaystation wave to justify Xbox's sparse exclusive showings, claiming at the time he didn't want to show games too early though they had games he could easily announce. Fast forward to last E3 and he's announcing studio acquisitions and a new Halo Game that wasn't even out of the concept stage and getting People of the Year recognitions for it.

@gangsta_red

Weren't you just complaining that the "who's who of N4G" flock to Phil Spencer articles to post negative comments? Let's try to be consistent, eh?

RauLeCreuset1982d ago (Edited 1982d ago )

@jagermaster

One other thing, since you invoked the competition in your criticism. Not everything is equal. Game lineups are not equal. Sony has solid 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party support. Yes fans want the game, but it's not like we're starving. We're well fed.

IamTylerDurden11982d ago

The scale and scope of Dreams is so vast that it makes sense the game has taken so long. This isn't a mindless sandbox with auto-lock shooting, it's an extremely innovative venture with a world of potential.

trooper_1982d ago

And you wonder why people dislike you.

UnholyLight1982d ago

@gangsta_red....man the truth really hurts doesn't it hahah

Honestly it's about time, I just hope I can get in, want to start making my One Piece game ASAP

Obscure_Observer1983d ago

So Dreams is an always online game?

I haven't seen anything that says the game is always online. Did I miss this?

@Krib

"you have to be signed in to the PS network to play it "

They are referring to the beta.

AspiringProGenji1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

The game has a single player mode just like every LBP game. It is a game about creating and sharing you fools... what are you getting at with these comments?

crazyCoconuts1983d ago

It's supposed to be more than a game its also a creation tool. Apparently you'll have the ability to export resources for use in Unity and other game engines. It's kinda hard to classify it singularly.

As far as I know yes. It uses cloud tech to store data in a way that levels can be deconstructed step by step. So when you download a level. You can see exactly how it was made click by click. I don't know if it supports offline. Will find out soon. But I don't see why not.

gangsta_red1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

@Obscure

I'm getting the same impression like in other similar (maybe?) games that center on user creations. I'm guessing the developers are going to provide levels and tools for gamers to use to create their own games, similar to LBP which they supported for years after it's first release with added design tools, levels and items. So I would think that it would be an always online game because of that. Especially if you want to upload you creations for others to see or play.

Razzer1983d ago

"So I would think that it would be an always online game because of that. Especially if you want to upload you creations for others to see or play. "

Why would the option to upload your creations require to be online "always"?

bluefox7551982d ago (Edited 1982d ago )

Nope. Just the beta. Sorry to burst your bubble.

rainslacker1983d ago

No doubt. I was expecting sometime after the new year. Not tomorrow, and didn't expect it to last a month. If this is something good in beta, it could even drive a surge in people wanting to get in on it over the holidays.

Kind of excited since I have a week off after xmas.:)

S2Killinit1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

Im just suprised its actually coming out. I thought it was going to be something that gets cancelled and then used as a tool for developers.

But its actually going to released it seems.

UCForce1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

It isn’t like that. Before MM announced the beta, the game have been played by critics and people in previous events, the feedback was very positive. The developer don’t have any trouble with it. It’s just that Dream is pretty big game because the game have a lot of possibilities for you create your own imagination.

Ceaser98573611982d ago

MM takes their time to release a game, if you dont know this then probably you are a rookie and yet to know and learn a lot...

The game looks good cant wait to try it ...

C-H-E-F1982d ago

To all my xbox haters talking about how long, how about we talk about MILO? FABLE? need I continue? Go back and play your third party games on xbox one x.

It's about time. While I doubt I will get an invite, it's exciting nonetheless. Would love a chance to dive in and see what we can get up to.

anonymousfan1983d ago

I am just relieved it's getting released before PS5 (although I do hope it'll be cross gen) :D

The 10th Rider1982d ago

This is exactly the type of game that *needs* to be cross gen (even if the PS4 version is out a year before the PS5 and PS5 version).

Launching it on PS4 ensures a huge body of potential purchasers that can create content. Launching on PS5 ensures that that content carries forwards and people can continue to enjoy it.

Nintendo dropped the ball with Mario Maker because it came out towards the end of the Wii U's life and then there was nothing to carry those user created levels forwards. Such a shame because it was a great game/creation software.

THC CELL1983d ago

No invites to them who join news letter today

luckytrouble1983d ago

Dunno why you're getting disagrees. It's a confirmed update in the article that the invites are only for those that were already signed up for the newsletter at the time of the announcement. Signing up now may get you on the list if they do multiple betas, but otherwise you'll be missing out on at least the first couple of weeks of the beta like many of us will.

sprinterboy1982d ago

Gamers have had plenty of time to sign up to the news letter, however I don't don't think many gamers actually do tbh.
I think it would have been best to provide beta codes for those that subscribe to say MM Twitter, fb, YouTube etc.
Like I said how many gamers over the years really sign up for the news letter?

boing11983d ago

Pretty sure it'll be open beta.

sprinterboy1982d ago

If people were interested in dreams or any other game for that matter then you should always support and sign up for news letters etc.

If there was one PC version that should have existed it’s Dreams

I’m super glad they will be going back to something more traditional gaming wise.

Cacabunga17d ago

I’m sure they’ll find something creative to implement like Tearaway on vita. What a gem 💎 that thing was!!!

Abear2117d ago

My dream was DreamsVR and creating landscapes, characters, and sculptures using that amazing toolbox in vr, that would have been something imo.

ocelot0717d ago

I thought It has vr support?

Amplitude17d ago

It did but it came out as an update LONG after the game was essentially dead

P_Bomb17d ago

Dreams PC was the dream. Woulda given the game a much needed boost. Here’s hoping they follow it up well.

phoenixwing17d ago

If sony had any sense they'd be making a pc version pronto

mkis00717d ago

They probably ran into the same problem they did with the potential of last of us factions....the support needed was just too much to consider expanding to more platforms for a smallish studio.

Abnor_Mal17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

I use to say this when the game was first releasing, many kept saying it would not be possible, something about the toolsets.

I said this was one game that needed to be on as many platforms as possible, including PC and Xbox just like how Minecraft is everywhere.

Goodguy0117d ago

Creation tools just don't work on console very well. It's definitely more suited for PC, and it's very odd Sony decided not to port it over. Good MM is working on an actual game instead.

Dreams Dev Media Molecule Says Layoffs Impact Planned Community and Curation Support

IGN writes: "Media Molecule has said the layoffs at the Sony-owned studio have affected plans for ongoing community and curation support in Dreams."

Inverno61d ago

How self sustained can DREAM be when it's basically stuck on PS4? I don't think it's even gotten a PS5 upgrade. Ending support for what is essentially a game making engine is basically death. SONY did DREAMS dirty.
