Hour Play - Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia review (www.pushingplay.com)

www.pushingplay.com writes "Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (Ecclesia, for short) is the latest entry in Konami's long-running vampire/undead slaying series. Since Symphony of the Night (the greatest Castlevania and an easy contender for one of the greatest side-scrollers of all time), the series has incorporated many RPG elements into it's design, and Ecclesia continues that tradition. The basic idea behind Castlevania is short but sweet. Every 100 or so years, Dracula's castle is resurrected and it's usually up to members of the Belmont clan, a long line of vampire hunters to stop him. Sometimes the protagonist is not a member of said clan, but represents some other force acting for good. The Belmonts are mentioned in Ecclesia, but the protagonist is not related to them. For the first time in the franchise, the lead character is a totally badass chick, which is pretty cool.

I was extremely hyped before playing this game. I've been a fan of the franchise since Dracula X on the super nintendo, and have played most installments since then. Castlevania is one of my vices. Once I start, it's hard for me to stop unless there's a power failure, and with Ecclesia on the DS, odds of such an occurrence are pretty slim. It took all of my will power to tear myself from the game after a single hour. Since I consider myself an authority on all things Castlevania, read on to find out how it stacks up to other Castlevanias, and the genre as a whole."

Someone should fire to the lowest pit the guy on Konami that thought mobile gaming was the future and destroyed MGS, Castlevania and other franchises in the way.

I think that might have been a group decision, but lol!

Yeah I'm REALLY loving what little I've played of it so far and this is coming from someone who hasn't been too impressed with what has been shown of the game, guess metroidvania plays better than they look.
