CSGO Goes Free to Play & Adds Battle Royale Mode- What is Valve Thinking?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or CSGO as it is more commonly known, has gone free to play. A new battle royale mode has also been added. But why?

Free to play is probably going to hurt it a bit, but battle royale is fun, plus it's not like CS:GO was still in development, the game was a long standing finished product, not like adding a new mode would hurt the original any

When entire parts of games are being cut in favor of "just a mode" you know something's wrong...

why? There really isnt that many of them, its just most people like them and it just eats at n4g commentators who prefer story focused games.

Exactly it ruins games and as someone who works with the gaming industry it's shameful if you want a BR mode in a game then make it optional don't replace it or say oh this is what your getting instead of the single player campaign which is what games were built on in the first place you had no online or MP back in my time you had black and white nintendo and you had cartridges with the game on thats it then you had colour based gaming systems with local MP enabled on them i.e. sonic 2

I despise and hate BR for everything it represents it shows its a money making scheme it's blatant micro-transactions and thats all it is you want the best weapons you have to pay for it you want the best skin you have to pay for it, I wont support a system like this ever.

More importantly what was the effect on the knife market? I can only imagine with potentially infinite amount of accounts able to just up and play now.
