Bethesda Breaks Silence; Details Two Big Fallout 76 Updates For December

Surrounded by controversies and mishaps, Bethesda has finally broken the silence about the matter. The company has apologised for its lack of communication with the community and detailed two major updates for Fallout 76.

Fallout 4 was abysmal and insulting. Ruined the best franchise and turned it into Skyrim. Walk in, kill some shit then leave through a shortcut and forget it ever happened.

I think people need to leave the whole co-op crap behind and just let Bethesda make a single player driven RPG. I don't want them focusing on co-op and how quests will work along with the overall game world with friends when they could be fixing the dozen or so bugs that came with just creating the base game or even finishing ideas they might have to leave for DLC.

Elder Scrolls Online has happened, Fallout 76...they should drop it.

I'm sure people would have loved a New Vegas like spin off for the Elder Scrolls over Elder Scrolls Online or a New Vegas spiritual successor over Fallout 76

They had to start somewhere. They should not have charged 60 dollars for it, but people would do well to remember that this is their first time delving into multiplayer, and its only 3 years after Fallout 4. Honestly, I like the game alot but even I said that this would be a disaster back when they announced it. "How the heck are they going to get this to work?" I thought.

You can't make fallout co op though it often involves player choice and betrayal of faction a to side with faction b you would end up giving player no choice in how the 40 hours or so play out. or have two players side with seperate factions and you both lose because everyone is now dead

76 isn't about multiplayer, it's about how they could cash in on microtransactions and a full $60 price tag despite having the quality of a free or $10 add on.

IF they continue with Fallout ever again (this might have been killer blow) then I think they'll make it a proper RPG.

However, that's a big if. I wouldn't be surprised if they never touch it again after this. Beth development cycles are fairly glacial as it is and they probably will want to distance themselves from the franchise.

Just to THINK they could have hired some ex-Interplay/Obsidian guys to do a new Fallout like NV was to 3 makes my blood boil a bit. Several of the NV devs said they'd relish the opportunity, but instead Bethesda go ahead with this travesty.

I'd probably say nobody wants this game at the expense of ever having a proper SP Fallout game. Frankly, I'd prefer to have a proper SP game, like RDR2, with MP also baked into the game in a different mode. I own the game. I am willing to see what BGS can do to improve the game. Perhaps they can turn it around like Ubi did with Rainbowsix Seige or The Div. At least make it the best it can be. If someone doesn't like MP well there is no fixing that.

I agree with you, and also the fact that Fallout 4 has received quite a strong retroactive backlash from series fans. It's more like Far Cry or something, like a sandbox game with vaguely RPG-looking elements.

Good. Now that that is out of the way maybe they can be more communicative with future progress and updates. They are addressing the biggest complaints from the community and adapting to suit. All good signs. Only time will tell if it is enough.

I always wanted MP/co-op for a Fallout game...but I never wanted it implemented in the way that the majority of people who played this game are reporting.

I was disappointed with Fallout 4 and now it seems all Bethesda did was *tack* (ha!) on a MP to that game.

Will just have to patiently wait for Starfield.

The only thing saving Starfield is it being a brand new game set in a sci fi universe.

That's true what you say about Starfield. I think they probably recognised early on that because it's a new IP they really will have to break new ground to get it noticed. They have gotten very complacent with their established series (what's the plural of series?!)

I like Angry Joe, but to be honest, his review looked like he didn't play much and mostly just copied stuff from other people's reviews. I think SkillUp's review of Fallout 76 was 100% spot on.

When it said major updates I didn't think it meant tweaks and QOL improvements but it's better than nothing. I suppose the actual major updates with substantial new content will come later.

After the fairly awful launch, and judging by how games like this usually work anyway, dropping back in a year or so seemed a good plan and it still does. There is potential there for something really good.

They are releasing within 2 weeks. Not sure how much content they could add in that time. Hopefully after a few months they will have major patches but by then it’ll be too late, hell it already is actually.

By the time fallout 76 is in a better state we will all be talking about next gen consoles and it’ll be game over for this.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery though so I’m sure Bethesda will get back on track.

Fallout should never be co op there's really no need for it given the games have traditionally revolved around choice taking that to multiplayer just doesn't work for example player 1 might want to save the railroad and player 2 wants to join the institute does 1 player automatically over ride the others choice or does one player want to show mercy and the other kill a target.

Off topic a bit but I preferred Oblivion over Skyrim, I know it wasn't quite as polished but just found it more rewarding.
Plus non stop jumping from one side of the map to the other was kind of fun lol
