With a new direction for the Prince of Persia series many gamers are asking if the game will match up to the games that have gone before. UbiSoft have taken the brave step of including an active companion, Elika, to fight alongside the Prince, and are hoping that she will bring a new depth to both the game play and the story.
Over the weekend PS3 Attitude were able to get some hands on experience with Prince of Persia at the MCM Expo in London. Since the original screenshots for the game were released we have been really interested in seeing how the game plays and the interaction between the Prince and Elika.
The mind behind Prince of Persia shares his family’s life story as well as his own as a videogame developer in an emotional and very personal book.
With the release of The Lost Crown this week, let's take a look at every Prince of Persia game released since the series debuted.
If you’re a gamer “of a certain age”, you may vaguely remember the moment when games went from a grueling gauntlet requiring all your skill and concentration to tackle to a casual, checkpoint-containing, cruise control-encouraging walk in the park.
I beat Jurassic Park multiple times!
Jurassic Park had no save system, so I would leave the console running while I went to school, took breaks. It's not that it's hard, it's just tedious. But I was a Jurassic Park obsessed kid (around 13 when this hit), so I would obsessively scower ever inch of the maps (both 2D and 3D) until I had them memorized.
The Star Wars trilogy, I only beat w the cheat codes.
with the exception of Jurassic Park and Prince of Persia, I've beaten every other one of those. It just takes practice and time. Something I had way more of when I was younger.
It's been really interesting watching people's reactions to this latest PoP game.
Some 'fans' hate the new character, Elika, but she serves a really important purpose. In the 'sands of time' trilogy it was quite common to rewind time only to die again because the rewind wouldn't go back far enough, which was pretty frustrating.
With Elika however, she'll save you if you make a mistake. It's like rewinding time, only smarter and more practical.
The art direction of this new PoP is amazing too. I really have no idea why there's been such a backlash. Can anyone shed any light?
I was there aswell, I played it :D
I think you are right on the money Kawaii. Compare footage from Okami when Clover was going for a realistic look versus the finished product. No contest.
There is room in games for art and artistic vision. I hope more developers use it wisely.
The game has trophy support.
Moi?!
I do love my trophies!
