5 Ways Microsoft Can Dominate a Sony-Free E3 2019

Rather surprisingly, Sony announced that it would be absent from E3 2019. As a result, Sony has presented Microsoft with an open-goal for 2019's E3.

but can they take the crown from PS next gen? I think Sony and the Ps5 got next gen on lockdown.

darthv722007d ago

I don't know the answer but why not ask that in a next gen thread. This is about E3 next year. So do you have any comment about that topic?

chrisx2007d ago

"announce the next xbox for next gen" is literally no.4 on the list, so I am well and truly on topic. now, kindly sit down and stop embarrassing yourself.

darthv722007d ago

you didnt allude to that initially but then I guess picking out one line item and thinking it is on topic is just as good.

Okay chris... if you think so. https://giphy.com/search/ey...

chrisx2007d ago

...I get it, you love your Xbox and it's nothing to be ashamed of.i was only stating my opinion from no4 of the article. you don't always have to get triggered, you can just hit disagree and move on cos this is just tiring at this point.

darthv722007d ago

You're really going to double down on point #4 huh... nothing about new studios or new content or strengths? Okay, if that's the only point you want to focus on.

I don't think MS will really talk much about a successor system. It's all just speculation what it could be but I think they will focus on the games coming from those studios because many of them already were working on projects prior to being acquired. So they will tout these games and possibly allude to other projects that are nearly finished and ready to discuss. How they are managing to keep certain projects hush hush is anybody's guess but they did state they weren't going to announce any more projects ahead of schedule.

See... it wasnt so hard to be on topic.

FallenAngel19842008d ago

I doubt they’d announce the next Xbox at next E3

crazyCoconuts2008d ago

I could see them announcing a streaming console next year. Maybe it's the diskless Xbox One S with their version of PSNow running on it for super cheap.

FallenAngel19842007d ago

Why would it being discless make it cheaper? On the contrary it’d have to have more internal storage to make up for a lack of physical media like PSP Go, which’d make it more expensive

Microsoft would sooner drop the price on XO than remove the disc drive. Let’s not forget the “how to share a game” video exists for a reason

JackBNimble2006d ago

Physical and digital take up the same storage.

chiefJohn1172006d ago

Digital doesn't take up any more space than physical also they're a lot of ppl that only buy digital.

chiefJohn1172006d ago

Ya unless it a 2019 release Scarlett isn't being announced. However the diskless one s and streaming likely will.

rainslacker2006d ago

I doubt it as well...because they announced it at this past e3.

Maybe you meant reveal it at the next e3

1. The acquisitions they are making of Inxile, Obsidian, Ninja Theory, Undead Labs are pale in comparison to what Microsoft should have done. Which was to try and buy Bioware, Mistwalker, Epic, Remedy when they were on a high. They should have supported Bungie and allowed them freedom beyond Halo and managed Lionhead better. Buying close to bankrupt companies is lowered expectations.

2.Backwards compatibility and power have been a NON FACTOR in stopping PS4. No new IPs are the reason they are being decimated. Pushing this is a bad idea. Gamers want NEW GAMES.

3.Exclusive content of 1st party games are also a non factor this gen. Most 3rd parties are going to release on PS4 as well and sell better there because of more consoles on the market. It's already a known thing in the game community. It would just sound like captain obvious statements or misleading statements like "world premiere exclusive." More content for current games is going to do what exactly this late in the game? Stop the bleeding?

4.They already did that last E3 by talking about next Gen. It didn't work out for them as Spider-man and it's bundle are "Zombieland Double Tapping" them in sales anyway. Announcing anything more just leads Sony to counter sooner. This won't be some 1 year or 1 1/2 year lead. Microsoft don't have that anymore.

5.What could they offer besides more Game Pass releases? If Microsoft announces an AR unit with Hololens 2, it might do well in the business sector. But, what is that going to bring to consoles and TV games? You think VR is not needed for 4K gaming. AR wouldn't make sense for consoles. The Xbox controller is not even tracked. And Kinect is dead to track anything. VR is their only option to announce. And even that is unlikely.

Sure twininfinite.

Hardiman2008d ago

Really agree with everything you said. Especially pertaining to the studios they should've bought(the way they do things though doesn't guarantee it would've changed much) and how they handled Bungie will always drive me crazy! On the flip side look how Sony handled GG in allowing them to do HZD or Santa Monica Studio in refreshing GOW!

I also don't get how things like backwards compatibility is always brought up even though it's a cool feature, it hasn't done much for Xbox this gen.

The main focus should've always been awesome AAA games both new and cool takes on established franchises but this isn't something M$ is good at! Which is sad because it's the main reason we're here in the first place!

If I was M$ Id be worried with Sony announcing so far out they aren't coming to E3! If I were Spencer I'd try to emulate what Sony does and add my own spin to it as opposed to pushing GAAS, MT's etc.

King_Noctis2006d ago

Is that all you can see? Negatives in everything MS?

Hardiman2006d ago (Edited 2006d ago )

Yes, especially after supporting them for years. I bought an Xbox and 360 day one and bought most third party titles for the OG Xbox. After experiencing how great it was at one time to the way it is now is very depressing!

The first issue I had was RRD, and it happened to quite a few but we got through that but then the awesome games started being more cookie cutter. Alan Wake was the last exclusive I bought as shortly after I got the first PS3 Slim. This wasn't the first PlayStation I had owned just the first PS3 and the availability of games was really exciting.

I was still had hope for the next Xbox and watched the E3 13 Xbox One unveiling and was absolutely disappointed. The terrible practices they were trying to push was too much and I decided to hold off. Throughout this gen they've only reinforced my decision.

The point is at one point in time they were rocking on all cylinders in the beginning and midpoint of the 360 and since that time they've been going in a different direction while others have doubled down on game development they have not. At this point for me anyway, I look at them much like EA or Activision. They are a very powerful company and have lots of stroke and for me anyway I don't want most of the practices they envision taking hold. Maybe one day they'll get back to what brought them here in the first place.

chiefJohn1172006d ago

1. If you have a talented studio that simply had to ball on a budget and did vs higher budget studios that struggled I'd go with the cheaper option.
2. Weren't you just hyping and hoping for BC for ps5? BC doesnt need to stop PS4 it's for the gamers not a weapon and bc has been a big success for Xbox. Shoot y'all fanboys screaming at Sony to have it for ps5 then say meh to it for Xbox one lol.
3. I personally don't care and would rather have them spend money else where but it's been proven exclusive content does help sells

4. Didnt help? It was widely agreed Ms had the better e3 cause of it.

5. Personal don't care about are, VR or Kinect but Kinect 2.0 has sold more than psvr.....just saying so if it's dead than....lol nvm

Imortus_san2006d ago (Edited 2006d ago )

1- "Buying close to bankrupt companies is lowered expectations" - its a smarth business, buy cheap make high profit.
2- "Backwards compatibility and power have been a NON FACTOR in stopping PS4." - retro as been a thing since the Xbox 360 fans love it, and it's the most requested feature on PS4.
3 - "Exclusive content of 1st party games are also a non factor this gen." - wow, reaaly because when its a Sony exclusive its the end all, but MS 1st party games don't count, roll eyes.
4- If a diskeless console it's the market at 150€ they will definitly rump up much more sales, not enought but will incrise a lot.
5- Last E3 they manage to talke about more 1st party games then the competition, all they really need is to keep that up

crazyCoconuts2008d ago

why did I click through this article. poorly conceived

Godmars2902006d ago

Haven't they been announced winner of E3 several times, only to deliver sub-par actual results?

E3 is only hype and diminishing hype at this point because of overly early announcements and direct disappointments.

chiefJohn1172006d ago

Not really the results end up being
Winning the holiday season
X outselling the pro
Closing the revenue gap.
Last e3 was the only one they won that didn't have any real effective results tbh.

MasterCornholio2006d ago

Actually the Pro outsells the X. As for winning the holiday season that isn't really affected by the E3 presentation. It's the deals and bundling compelling software with the systems that do that.

Take-Two Mandate on Microtransactions: Over-Deliver on Content and the Monetization Will Follow

Take-Two Interactive states their edict on microtransactions has been to over-deliver on content, and the monetization will follow.

lucasnooker4h ago

Warning. Boatloads of micro transactions coming for GTA VI

porkChop3h ago

To be fair, while GTA Online is monetized heavily both GTA Online and GTA V offer a massive amount of content without paying anything extra. Though I do think GTA Online's optional subscription is bullshit.

neutralgamer19923h ago

Can you please focus on delivering enough quality content to justify the $70 asking price? While I appreciate the idea of over-delivering, it's essential to ensure that the base content itself is worth it. I have concerns that GTA6 might have less single-player content because most of the focus seems to be shifting towards online play and microtransactions.

It's understandable why publishers are capitalizing on microtransactions when they generate billions with relatively little effort compared to traditional content creation. We, as consumers, are partly responsible for this trend. I've seen people spend on FIFA cards as if it's a normal part of the game. Previously, features like player cards and big head mode were earned through gameplay or cheat codes, but now gamers are willing to pay for them, so publishers have no reason not to monetize these features.

It's astonishing that the gaming industry is now more profitable than any other entertainment sector. Yet, despite record-high profits, the industry continues to see increasing levels of greed. It's baffling to hear about record profits followed by significant layoffs of developers. This disconnect makes no sense.

I know it’s unlikely given the size of the industry, but it might take a significant downturn for things to reset. Currently, there are too many decision-makers who lack a genuine understanding of gaming, focusing only on financial spreadsheets. A prime example is Andrew Wilson, the CEO of EA.

RhinoGamer883h ago

It must be a nightmare working at Rockstar in a Production role...dealing with the team egos and those of the V suite. #soulcrush

-Foxtrot2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

The thing is doesn't that just give studios the excuse of filling their games with content that’s just going bloat it rather than contribute towards the main story.

Ubisoft games for example with all the markers where 90% of it is just padding or useless crap.

Or maybe they design the game in a way that makes it feel longer but it’s because they’ve created it in a way where you are spending most of your time backtracking with spaced out unlocks that help your reach new areas or even having to do a bunch of platforming / parkour to get around. Jedi Survivor was the first game recently that’s made me think “ we didn’t need all this, it should have been more linear”.

It gets tiring

PRIMORDUS28m ago(Edited 27m ago)

I that's fine I can take all the DLC for when GTA 6 comes on PC for free, by torrenting of course. LOL You all know this game no matter the protection (unless SP will be online only) will be on top of every Scene groups list to crack. I cannot stand Take-Two. I would tell off that CEO shit bag I'm taking your game for free ain't nothing can be done about that🤣

Crows9020m ago

I guarantee that the same people that broke the law while weed was not legal will tell you how bad you are....lol

PRIMORDUS2m ago

I do by PC games, but not many, there are some companies that are pieces of shit like Take-Two, Rockstar I'm not too fond of either that I don't care what I do or say to them. There is too much bullshit with all these microtransactions, DLC, etc. and I will never pay for that. 😎

Crossplay Will Be In College Football 25 But Not In Online Dynasty Mode

EA Sports dropped their first gameplay trailer for College Football 25 today and the game looks truly amazing. Buried in the details of the game hype, however, is a significant letdown for those who play online dynasty (a significant portion of the userbase).
