What does it even mean? First of all, it's subjective. Second, are you basing this on a MetaCritic score or something? I mean, come on. The same people who always say that 360 has the most AAA games also say games like Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank on the PS3 are not AAA because they scored 89's instead of 90+ . . . It's ridiculous. All the systems have great games, and plenty of them. It's up to each individual gamer to decide which system has the right library for them.

Looking at this year, the PS3 has MGS4(rated as high as any 360 exclusive ever) LBP (rated higher than any 360 exclusive ever) and R2 (looks to be as good as Gears 2 with a longer retail value)

So I would have to say that this is the year of the PS3. It sold more than the 360, has more AAA exclusives, and has 2 games that are equal or better than any 360 exclusive to date (since Bioshock is now multiplatform)

You should really have both consoles, since the 360 is so cheap now. But I don't think anyone can say the 360 has the better lineup this year, when the ratings say otherwise.

AAA is a MEGA SELLING(or sells well) game gamers must have in his/her collection and is a factor when consumers purchase a new system, non of those off topic ps3 games are that( gamers will buy AAA titles no matter when they purchase the console durring the console's life time.

I don't consider Halo 3 or Gears of War to be AAA, while I do consider both Mass Effect and Fable II as AAA.

I don't consider Call of Duty 4 or BioShock AAA, but I do consider Dead Space and Uncharted as AAA.

Mega selling has nothing to do with how good a game is: See Ico, Shadow of the Collosus and Okami.

It depends, AAA from a companies point of view is mega selling game like Hal0 3. But from a gamers point of view anything can be AAA. I consider my favorite games AAA, even if they dont have a score above 90% what does it matter.

And if you wanna go by scores the Wii has had 3 AAA exclusives this year so shouldnt it be the year of the Wii?

Edit: My bad the 360 actually has 4 AAA games (or games over 90 for those who complain) this year so far if you include arcade games while the PS3 still only has 2. Also whats stopping Banjo 3 from being AAA as well is has just as good a chance as R2 if past games are anything to go by

AAA = A game project wich isnt bound to a certain deadline and money cap. AAA means that a team has a huge range of artistic and technological freedom until the game is ready (not unlike the other games where the team gets like 15 month as a fix dev time in wich the game MUST be delivered). It does NOT mean any certain score or quality. AAA is solely a phrase a huge project and developer.

Fable Halo Gears Uncharted LBP Ratchet etc. are all AAA games.

once again AAA does NOT mean a certain score, it only means the developer has a HUGE fund and devtime (they say when the game is ready NOT the publisher).

They got exposed for bribing Halo 3 reviewers and funny how Fable 2 was all the time under 90 with only 1 perfect score, then all of a sudden several perfect scores popped out in one single day and pushed the game overall over 90. Well not really, Gamerankings still has it under 90, metacritics just rounds up, the true score is surely under 90

Well I can't live without MGS4, and LBP and Resistance 2 look sick, so I wouldn't call the 360 ''The'' must have console of the year because of Gears 2. For me it's the PS3, but that doesn't mean the 360 is bad either.

And for the PS3 fanboys, always remember that Resistance 1 got an average of around 90 or 89. Please consider this before bashing Gears 2.

GRAW ,Guitar hero and RB1 came out before PS3 was launched. However the sequels are all on PS3 as well

A AAA title is subjective. Everybody has their own preference. But a great definition of a AAA title is a game that over all gets great scores. In other words.... MAJORITY RULES!. 9's and 10's. Games like Gears, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Fable 2, etc... are all considered AAA titles. You can also add how successful a game is to add to the definition.

Trips to Paris and free sushi bars were all put out there by Konami, not Sony so it stands to reason that Konami wanted to get the biggest bang for their buck and it was not Sony doing the "so-called" dirty deed.

Anywho...

A triple A title is a title that has no limits to budget and no limits to time. It is a grand project that is hoped to gain huge success and huge press. Not all are successful and, some smaller budget titles that are on time constrictions make it bigger than said triple A titles thus giving off the illusion that scores are what make a title AAA. Scores are only part of the cake, the rest is up to budget and time frames.

And since when Orange Box is considered an exclusive because you compared it to LBP. Also the best version was on PC and not on 360.
